An emacs-like text editor.

Description from store

Chremacs is a surprisingly complete version of emacs, a powerful text editor with a long, rich history.

This is a simple Google App and does not do everything one would like, yet. For example, it does NOT save work as you go, nor does it trap window closes -- if you close the window, your unsaved work is gone. But it allows you to open, edit, and save text files to local storage and Google Drive.

For any experienced emacs user, it provides an incredibly high level of productivity.

As pointed out by others, syntax highlighting is fixed to one programming language. __Very__ annoying if you're editing anything else. Please have the option to switch off syntax highlighting! (Until then, I uninstall.)

It's a good start, but most of the power of emacs is in the customization, which this doesn't have. Amazing work for what's there though.

Extremely well done...nice reuse of the Ymacs code. Needs a few more major modes (starting with fundamental-mode), but the presence of markdown-mode is impressive, as is the excellent support for window splitting. Keep up the great work!

Very nice, but the description says I can open from and save to Google Drive, but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually do that. Perhaps that functionality is limited to Chrome OS. If it's limited to local files, it's not very useful to me, since I can just use actual Emacs for local files.

This is super great. It would be even more awesome if you could select a local working directory that would act as the entire "hard disk"

It is a brilliant idea to bundle together Chrome and Emacs!

Highlight keywords such as 'for', 'in' for no reason. I just need a text-mode.

Amazing! This is absolutely amazing how they made an emacs working as a chrome app. It supports many of the key-bindings of emacs and code highlighting.

Great editor! I used it when I was offline without an internet connection yesterday. The only gripe I have is the lack of major modes that I use. I'm using this editor primarily for C and Python editing, and having support for their major modes would be great.
