- (2023-11-02) Robert Johnson: This extension works with some limitations: Clicking on your map only pops up coordinates if Google doesn't pick up your click itself to select a venue, a business, a house, any point of interest, really. So if you click in an open field or the middle of the road, you will get the small black pin and the small window with w3w coordinates (and lat/long). Otherwise you get Google's larger window of location info (including lat/long and Plus Code). So this really limits your ability to choose w3w locations to give to others in the city. For this you may have to use the what3words map site or app instead. The part of this that fully works, and may be enough reason to keep this installed, is the w3w address entry into Google Maps using a searchbar search engine interface. You can go to your browser's searchbar at any time and hit: /// <tab> clip.apples.leap
Schade drum.
- (2023-03-19) Ma. Edisa Villa: Doesn't work with Google Maps and Bing Maps. The search function in Chrome address bar "/// " work.
- (2022-09-20) KioscoBeachNo7: It does work just instructions not clear! After install restart browser. To get a w3w address on google maps zoom in and left click the exact location, at the bottom of the map a little box appears with town, country, gps co-ords and w3w address ( ///word.word.word ). You may need to do last step a couple of times to get ///. Now, to use that w3w address or any w3w type in the browser address bar ( not google maps search bar ) /// + a space ( what3words | ) will appear, you then type the w3w address, i.e. (without slashes) dines.spellers.thin (With slashes, no space) ///dines.spellers.thin
- (2022-05-29) Nigel HS: Utterly useless. Asks which language to use and sticks there. Cannot use it. Win11 laptop.
- (2022-05-22) Rich K: Stuck on language selection and does nothing, very frustrating.
- (2022-05-09) Robin McKenzie: IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This ONLY works if you include a space between "///" and your what3words. WHY ISN'T THIS MENTIONED AT ANY POINT?! (NB On the what3words website, they themselves are inconsistent, and some addresses contain a space, and some don't. GAH!)
- (2022-05-02) Tim Overbeck: Seems based on the older comments the developer has abandoned this project and is not providing support. Does not work, period! Extension is stuck on asking me to select a language. Don't waste your time. Bummer I was looking forward to trying this out.
- (2022-02-18) phil harris: Total waste of time
- (2022-01-31) Derek Sewell: Just stuck on asking me my language! Cannot get it to display anything at all.
- (2022-01-19) Willie de Jager: Not doing anything, just pops up the language selection and does not show any what3words information.
- (2021-10-27) Nina J.: Using what3words address in address bar does not work (using /// + space). Search of address at maps.google.com does not work (using /// with or without space). it displays w3w address when i click on the map though. which does not help much if I can't search for it. Please fix those issues. I want to use w3w
- (2021-09-14) Ricko Kelly: W3W Translator GPS to W3W and vice versa Very Good
- (2021-08-11) craigmsimpson: I struggled to get it to work when I first installed. However, follow this link to get some help. https://www.notion.so/what3wordsnotion/Using-what3words-in-Google-Maps-87e0b23d05b3485bb17101345ba3e111 In short, once you install the extension, type directly in the Address Bar, 3 slashes followed by a space and then your What 3 Words in the right format. Example: /// what.three.words Then it will take you where you want to go. Hope this helps. Craig
- (2021-06-29) Ken Pemberton: Doesn't seem to do anything at all! Can't find a w3w address, even when prefixed with ///, and doesn't show them either. Pity - would have been awesome if it did what it said on the tin!
- (2021-06-24) Tim Hough: Used to work fine. does not anymore. None of the desired functionality works, even having re-booted computer. Fingers crossed this will be resolved.
- (2021-06-04) Scott Hillman: Finding w3w addresses works fine, clicking on map location does not display w3w address - only GPS coordinates.
- (2021-05-28) Peter Shaw: It's supposed to display the W3W address on the map/text and does not do so. Support has been unresponsive.
- (2020-04-06) Stefan Sahlander: This makes it so simple to find what3words addresses, and to share them directly from Google maps. Thank you!
- (2020-04-06) Len B: Nowhere in the promotion email or the Chrome extension page (even in the extension's screenshot) does it emphasise that the words need to be prefixed by ///.
- (2020-03-26) Maddie Taylor: Really slick extension that enables what3words address entry into Google Maps and Google search bar – love it!
- (2020-03-18) Amazing in its simplicity and effectiveness! Just like what3words itself....
- (2020-03-12) Andrew Cheng: Works perfectly!! Great how it has the w3w address at the bottom of the map with the GPS coordinates also!
- (2020-03-08) Daniel Fogg: Incredibly useful extension and very slick integration.
- (2020-03-05) Penny Willoughby: Absolutely fantastic!
- (2020-02-19) Steve Hancox: Brilliant Idea, should be taken up by everyone
