ProWritingAid is a self-editing tool that helps you feel confident in your writing by providing instant analysis and improvements. Alongside a grammar checker and paraphrasing tool, you get 25+ writing reports to ensure error-free, engaging, and memorable writing.
📝 How It Works
ProWritingAid provides grammar corrections and style improvements you can either accept, deny, or click to learn more about.
You can customize your dictionary and style guide and personalize your settings to receive relevant suggestions that are tailored to your writing style and goals.
To get started:
- Install the extension, then open Google Docs or any writing website.
- Look for the ProWritingAid icon. When the icon is green, there are no suggestions. If the icon turns orange, ProWritingAid has found potential improvements. Click on the icon to see more information and access advanced features.
- Click to move the ProWritingAid icon so it doesn’t get in the way of what you’re writing or reading. Activate “focus mode” by clicking on the “eye” icon in the menu to avoid distractions while drafting.

- I love their work, and the extension works great but I DESPISE the floating button. No matter where I try putting the button it inevitably ends up in front of something I need to interact with. Please get rid of the floating button and move those functions into extension button on the toolbar like almost every other extension so it isn't causing me so many problems!

- The application is decent, but the big issue with it is that it underlines the wrong parts of the text. If I accept suggestions for improvements, the cursor, along with the text, jumps all over the place and scatters it. The developers must fix this; it's a bug that has caused issues since 2020.

- Well, I have been using the free Grammarly for a few months and it worked great. However, I have upgraded to Premium Grammarly and paid the charge for it and now all I get back from them is upgrade to a premium account, to do much more What am I to do

- I am extremely pleased with the app. However, I am dissatisfied with the limitation of only five sparks per day unless an additional $299 is paid on top of the existing premium pro fee. Allocating merely five sparks per day to premium users seems unjust. It ought to be twenty per day.

- Unobtrusive and helpful. Some times I still like my way best, but because I think that information is lost on some suggestions. Still, most corrections make sense and improved my writing, especially because once you have corrected the same thing a few times, you start doing it on your own. It is like having a teacher supervise each of your paragraphs and giving useful feedback. Since English is my second language, this is especially important to me.

- It always fascinates me how much clearer my prose is after running it through ProWritingAid. It's important not to accept its suggestions blindly, as it misinterprets context sometimes. But it inevitably will identify several issues in every chapter, and the result is tighter, clearer writing.

- I may like Microsoft's own Editor, but I love this Grammar and writing coach. I especially love the new features such as the new Rephrase, and Style Guides I can set myself. Totally worth the desktop and extension download.

- I found it amazing that as an adult I was so ignorant of using correct syntax or subject verb agreement and I've been attempting to write for years. Now I have a much better chance of writing something that an editor wouldn't through in the circular file as soon as it was opened. I'm just an amateur, so I haven't upgrade, but the decision won't be difficult.

- Terrible, terrible product. This performs well below Grammarly, which is shocking considering their similar pricing. The extension has not been updated since December 20, 2021. The software regularly gives incorrect feedback for corrections, not allowing users to report incorrect suggestions. This is a poor alternative to Grammarly. I hope the developers will consider introducing more frequent updates to the software solution.
