Als je al een YouTube-pagina had geopend voordat de extensie werd geïnstalleerd, kan het nodig zijn de pagina te vernieuwen.
Ad skip is een adblocker voor YouTube gemaakt voor de Chrome-browser om alle advertenties te blokkeren die bij het starten verschijnen bij het bekijken van buisvideo's.

Zonder de extensie:
Voor of tijdens het afspelen van de YouTube-video kunnen videoadvertenties worden weergegeven. Deze advertenties kunnen worden gesloten met de knop Advertentie overslaan of Advertenties overslaan die na 5 seconden worden weergegeven. En dus moet je niet alleen instappen, maar ook wachten tot de knoppen verschijnen. Een ander soort advertenties kunnen video-overlay-advertenties zijn die kunnen worden gesloten met de X-knop, of kolomadvertenties die niet kunnen worden gesloten.
Met de extensie:
Advertentie overslaan zoekt naar de knoppen Advertentie overslaan of Advertenties overslaan en klikt er automatisch op om de videoadvertenties voor u te sluiten. Hoewel de knoppen na 5 seconden worden weergegeven, zijn ze al voorbereid en kunnen extensies erop klikken om de advertenties snel te sluiten. Video-overlay-advertenties en kolomadvertenties worden verborgen.

- (2024-06-30) Lukas Best: Generally worked well but seems to add an automated redirect to a "r.srvtrck.com"-Website to links from Google searches and other places. Once I deactivate the extension, the redirects don't happen anymore. This is not mentioned anywhere which I find very concerning since I don't want my data being used for marketing purposes and other stuff without me knowing it. I will uninstall the extension.

It appears that when you search something in Google and the results contain the word "support" (Example: ` dell.com/support `) you'll see a subtle dollar sign icon thing to the left of the title and clicking on the result will make an API request to ` edmitad.com `. To get rid of this, go to "chrome://extensions/" then "Skip Ad - Ad Block & Auto Ad Skip on YouTube" then "Site access" then change the dropdown from "On all sites" to "On specific sites" and add `https://youtube.com/*`.
