Description from store Tired of losing track of important tabs? BackTab is your solution for effortlessly navigating through your last active tabs, perfect for multi-taskers juggling numerous open pages. Key features: • Navigate through your last ten active tabs with simple one-hand keyboard shortcuts • Works across multiple windows and profiles independently • Only the "storage" permission is required (to save your tabs navigation order), ensuring your privacy • Completely free Unlike the browser's default back/forward navigation which moves through your browsing history, BackTab jumps between your recently active tabs, regardless of when you opened them. It's perfect for developers switching between documentation and code, researchers comparing multiple sources, or anyone who frequently juggles between different tasks in their browser. Using the following shortcuts, you can now toggle between your active tabs: ⌨️ For Mac users: - Navigate Back: Option + Q (secondary shortcut: Ctrl + Command + Left Arrow) - Navigate Forward: Option + W (secondary shortcut: Ctrl + Command + Right Arrow) ⌨️ For other platforms: - Navigate Back: Alt + Q (secondary shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Left Arrow) - Navigate Forward: Alt + W (secondary shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Right Arrow) You can change the default shortcuts to fit your workflow at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. We value your feedback! Please share your experience, report bugs, or suggest features through reviews. Download BackTab now and transform the way you navigate your browser tabs! *Credits to Stig Andre Dignæs Rundhaug for the icon and all the visuals for this extension.

  • (2025-07-10) Matt Cutts: I can't believe this isn't easily supported by Chrome natively. At least this extension makes things simple to toggle between two active tabs: click on one, then the other, then navigate backwards to the first tab with alt-q and forwards to the second tab with alt-w. Makes it easy to refer to one tab and then navigate back to a different tabs.
  • (2025-04-18) Misha Savchenko: Sometimes a new tab I am on doesn't get added to the list of tabs this extension cycles thru. It's kind of annoying, please fix.
  • (2024-11-13) Igor Bozin: Does what it is supposed to, finally an extension that works similar to the way Firefox handles most recent tabs cycling. Also, if possible, a tab cycling preview (also similar like Firefox) would be a great added functionality for the future.
  • (2024-07-19) Caner Çalışkaner: very easy to use.
  • (2024-07-12) Henrikke Hammett Havaas: I do research work and often have so many tabs open, so this extension is amazing! thanks
  • (2023-08-10) Stig Andre Dignæs Rundhaug: A neat extension for people who have workflows with many tabs. Unlike other extensions that only take you to the previous tab or similar, this cycles through your 10 last active tabs. That adds a lot more control when you have an unwieldy beast of 30+ tabs.
