KML was developed for use with Google Earth, which was originally named Keyhole Earth Viewer. KML became an international standard of the Open Geospatial Consortium in 2008.

(2017-05-04) Tyler Harms: Covered in ads that are nearly impossible to distinguish from the actual application UI elements. Didn't show my KMZ file even after I selected and opened it. It gets some credit for not being actively malicious, but it's among the worst apps I've ever attempted to use.
