This extension unlocks 1080p playback for Netflix and adds other quality of life improvements as well. It was originally developed by truedread, but the original project has not been maintained for a while, so I forked the project and released this new version.
*** Features ***
- Play movies in 1080p in Chrome. Depending on the DRM used by the title, this may not work, especially non-Netflix ones.
- Unlock 5.1 audio where available.
- Automatically switch to the highest available bitrate.
- Optionally disable use of the AV1, VP9 and AVChigh codec, which use lower bitrates and don't support hardware decoding on some platforms.
- Show all subtitle tracks.
- Re-enable the Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D and Ctrl+Shift+Alt+B keyboard shortcuts, allowing you to see playback stats and manually picking a video and audio stream respectively.

- Absolutely amazing! I am currently using Brave which is based on Chromium but not sure if Netflix has (DRM) restrictions, but was only playing at 720p max. After installing this extension and checking in Netflix (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + D) I can see the playback is 1080p - much appreciate.

- The extension works perfectly. I recommend disabling all other video codecs except AVC High, because Netflix tends to use much lower bitrates for the other codecs (like AV1 or VP9). Even though those codecs are technically more efficient, the lower bitrates often result in worse video quality compared to AVC High. The function for 5.1 audio is very helpful, and you can feel the difference in audio quality. Credit to the developer for delivering such an effective solution.

- works well! can you please now make one for every other streaming service that caps at 720p(basically meaning all of them), its so painful watching shows and movies on pc. this is great!

- Works well on Linux Chrome. At first, it did not work with Language Reactor extension for netflix subtitles (can't load subtitles), But after turning on the "Show all subtitle tracks" option in this extension's option page, subtitle works well. Great! Thank you!!

- Works great while other Netflix EXT doesnt. To verify bitrate just press ctrl+Alt+Shift+D while video is playing in non full screen browser.

- I have hardware acceleration disabled so I can take screenshots and this allowed me to get the screenshots I needed and watch in HD. Here is hoping between Chrome and Netflix, this is able to keep up with their updates.

- The different resolution doesn't change, i tried to get 720p and lower, and press override, but it does stay on 1080p. Well i figure it out, when pressing override, then just rewind the video so that it will take an new buffer for the video, then the new resolution will be applied.

- Many thanks to the developer Jan for creating this extension. I have suffered for almost 2 years with poor netflix quality despite fast internet speeds, trying different browers, and modifying performance settings. I used to have to refresh the video every 5 min cause the quality would start dropping, but now no more. I can finally watch a show from beginning to end in peace.

- It has stopped working on Chrome, but not on Brave for some reason. Any clarity on what we can expect going forward? Downgraded to version 132 using https://github.com/nkh-lab/downgrade-chrome and it is working again.

- I tried numerous titles and cannot get 5.1 audio to work. Oddly, if I hover over a title the preview plays in 5.1, but clicking and viewing it it's back to 2.0 (two examples: Dune, Interstellar)

- Please make an extension for Disney+! The same thing happens too. I can't watch FHD content on a computer and I have a very good one with 300 symmetrical megabytes of broadband.

- Used to work now not working for non netflix produce movies, example , PANIC ROOM, YOLO, AND PEARL. These movie are stuck on weird 960 x 540 resolution with no surround sound for analog realktek 5.1 users on windows. Sad day, unsubscribing netflix soon, since they want me to pirate to enjoy highest quality, then i have no choice.

- 5 star this extension is working great it fix the 5.1 audio problem on my pc and save my money from buying new 5.1 home theater thank you so much to the developer how to use it install the extension and after that sing in netflix again recheck the audio connection and audio drivers and audio app like reatltek audio its working great

- I was really annoyed by the constant downgrading of quality while watching videos on netflix and I always had to refresh the page but after few minutes it used to do the same again, thanks a ton to the devs of this extension, this actually works!! no more refreshing the page mid watching haha!!

- 1080p works but 5.1 doesn't. On the stats it still showing Channel 2.0 on Audio Track. Seen you ask for region, UK. Anything else that needs to be done to enable 5.1?
