Code Editor for Chrome

Image from store Tailor
Description from store Experimental code editor for Chrome. Main features * Edit your code offline from your Chromebook or web browser * Supports Git - keep you code in sync with your remote Git repositories. * Autocomplete for Javascript, CSS, and HTML * Syntax highlighting for most programming languages Note that the Git support is highly experimental. We've spent a lot of time testing it, but it's possible we've overlooked something and you may suffer permanent data loss by using the Git syncing feature. It's suggested that you not use this for very important things or even slightly important things. Use at your own risk.

  • (2018-10-06) carlos acevedo: Great project, but it was abandoned. Would love to have that hot live preview of Brackets in Chrome OS. I'm right now trying to get it work in Linux. I stay with Puresolid and that convenient Play button.
  • (2018-02-22) Allen Kennedy: Doesn't work at all.
  • (2017-01-06) FoxInFlame: Can't clone Git repo, how hard I try. "Uncaught ReferenceError: FileError is not defined."
  • (2016-05-14) Gambloide: Abandonware. Last update was in 2013. Either use Caret for Chrome or Adobe Brackets using crouton.
  • (2015-04-18) Abby Burditt: I absolutely hated this app because there is no tutorial and i had no idea wut to do and it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • (2014-10-01) Caden Sumner: Please add ability to save and view offline files on Chrome OS!
  • (2014-08-10) Marko Bonaći: It would've been polite to state on the chrome app overview (and details) page that this is heavily based on Brackets and its extensions.
  • (2014-06-21) Robert Nasiadek: Can't use live preview on ChromeOS - it says to restart Chrome with remote debugging and nothing happens. Otherwise this looks amazing, a very needed tool for ChromeOS.
  • (2014-06-14) Shawn SaffarShargh: Fantastic application with seamless Git integration!
  • (2014-05-27) Chao Xiang: I would say I love it! But there's a flaw, 'cause I need it to store projects on my local computer, and I we must be informed of the project path, and I wish this function can be integrated into the current version, like, we are not having an awesome editor equipped with a easy git-manager, but a flexible IDE equipped with a convenient git-manager! Hoping for your improvement and thanks a lot for your job!
  • (2014-05-13) C B: Seems non-responsive? No action on clicking "Save As." I assume I'm doing something wrong, but a bit of feedback on what I'm doing wrong would be nice.
  • (2014-04-07) David Ferguson: Great app! Git integration is exactly what I wanted, but to echo other people's concerns, being able to access the files outside of the app is vital for testing Chrome apps (which is exactly what I am using this for). I hope you continue to work on this app!
  • (2014-03-22) Anas Hashmi: Cannot make it work on a chromebook. It keeps saying to enable remote debugging but I don't know how to do that.
  • (2014-03-04) The frontend git is simply mind-blowing. Great work!
  • (2014-02-10) Martin Smythé: I can't save on Chrome OS! This is no bueno. Also, when I hit relaunch chrome with remote debugging, it doesn't work. otherwise, it's quite nice.
  • (2014-02-01) Kyle Graehl: Pretty cool. But I think it should give you the option to select a local directory (chrome.fileSystem.chooseEntry type:openDirectory) to save the files to, so that I'm not required to do the live debugging stuff. I'd like to be able to just use it as a normal editor for my local files. Also, an import function to import a currently existing directory from the local filesystem would be good.
  • (2014-02-01) Kenny Strawn: This is a classic example of the power of packaged apps in general and how they are able to take advantage of Chrome in a far more immersive, system-level manner. Very impressed. Seriously. Predictive editing, Git integration... Couldn't be a better fit, although Google Drive integration (via chrome.syncFileSystem) for those instances like app development where certain users don't like putting all their source code out there would make it even better.
  • (2014-01-20) Love this editor, the only Issue I'm having (and I'm unsure if it was designed for use on OS X) is getting Chrome livereload working. Other than that, amazing work! Git support is something missing from a lot of other web-based editors out there.
  • (2013-12-29) Jay Baptista: Finally, an application on ChromeOS that can push to GitHub. Looking for support/development on upload local files into our projects.
  • (2013-12-02) John Lawson: Please continue development, this is an excellent app. Git integration is brilliant feature.
  • (2013-11-30) Manny Baez: Fantastic little app. Very full featured for a web app. Needs a better icon.
  • (2013-09-13) This is exactly what Chrome OS needed. Brackets is one of the best editors out there and it's not even out of beta yet. Please don't stop on this project or get Brackets to pick this up.
  • (2013-08-17) A A: This is a great start for an IDE, definitely one of the most promising apps in the Chrome Web Store for Chrome OS. Some issues are with saving on Chrome OS, and the "Show in OS". The fact that I can't get it to properly save files is a pretty big issue, but I hope it'll be resolved in the future. I'll change my rating as the app is updated. Some things make it a bit unusable at its current state. Such as, "console." is in the autocomplete, and same as "document." But if you use either of them, you get a warning saying they aren't defined. Another suggestion is to add "chrome." to the autocomplete. If I'm going to be using this IDE for developing Chrome apps, I'm going to want Chrome to be in the autocomplete.
  • (2013-08-16) Jonathan (KCJC): This is pretty awesome, but as others have said the Live Preview doesn't work. I click the relaunch button on the prompt about enabling remote debugging but nothing happens. Looks polished but feels unfinished.
  • (2013-08-11) DeAndre Johnson: Nice app. Has a lot of potential but needs a way to access project files offline. Live Preview doesn't work.
  • (2013-08-09) Joseph benguira: promising but unfinished yet
  • (2013-08-09) Andrew Rabon: Incredibly well-polished app considering how early it is. How do you use Live Preview in Chrome OS? It mentions something about enabling remote debugging?
  • (2013-07-28) Looks cool, but there should be a view option instead of having to push changes. "Show in OS" did not work on my MacBook Pro. Maybe I'll have better luck with my Chromebook, but still loving Cloud9
  • (2013-07-27) Adonis K.: Needs a lot of work until it can actually claim a place in the marketplace. Will change rating that happens.
  • (2013-07-26) Felds Liscia: Very promising project! Loved it!
