đşď¸ Free Google Maps Timeline Export to Excel â
Export your trips and mileage from Google Maps Timeline to Excel for your mileage tax deduction. This Chrome extension enables generating mileage and time sheet reports / exports. None of your location data goes through a server. Everything is processed locally in your browser to ensure your privacy.
â ď¸ Attention â ď¸
Your trips exported from Google Maps Timeline with any tool are not sufficient as an IRS-Proof mileage log - points out our Platinum sponsor, MileageWise. They on the other hand, are able to convert these exported trips into an IRS-Proof mileage log.
đ˘ Notice đ˘
Google has recently relocated Timeline Location History data to local storage on mobile devices. Therefore the efficiency of this extension has been inconsistent, with some users able to export their data while others cannot. MileageWise can now integrate Timeline data that is locally stored on phones! If my extension doesn't work, this might be your solution: https://www.mileagewise.com/google-timeline-phone/

- (2024-12-06) Doug F: I had an experience similar to that of John Wighton who had trouble changing the date range and getting the appropriate data. I fiddled with it and eventually got 6 years of data out via one Excel workbook per year but couldnât get the 2018 data. I know the data is there because Takeout could access it and provide the data in JSON format and MileageWise could extract the data for one month of 2018 from the JSON data. Because I could get more data out, I wonât give it as low a rating as John. I thank the developers for making this product available. I suppose that as Google removes the option of storing Timeline data in the cloud, that MileageWise will be the option getting data unless competitors arise.
- (2024-10-16) Fourie Home: This was fantastic until it was no longer available. I am based in South Africa and the company Milage Wise you are suggesting does not support outside US and Canada
- (2024-09-23) Sven Langeberg: This would be great if the formatting was adjustable, my CSV export has distances shown as [14.758 KM] which makes it unusable for calculations. if it would say [14,758] without added text this would be a huge game changer. So: great tool, but just not for me, unfortunately.
- (2024-09-17) Jon Thurmond: Didn't work for me.
- (2024-09-06) Jordan Bailey (JB): I know google maps did some changes with being able to access your timeline on desktop. I believe that change has bricked this extension. Nothing shows up in my list at all, no matter the date range. Used to work wonderfully but hasn't the past few months :( Was 5 stars before it stopped working. If it starts working again, I'll gladly update the review
- (2024-07-19) Adrian Martinez: Amazing and free, thanks! Worked for me.
- (2024-05-17) Jan Veitch: As Chris noted on April 7, 2024. This was a GREAT tool, until Google changed timeline data storage. This tool now cannot access the data using a browser. FYI, you can still download the data using Google Takeout, but this extension cannot use that data. Hopefully the developer can allow it to use the downloaded timeline JSON.
- (2024-04-07) Chris: This was an incredible tool until Google's recent Timeline update which migrated all Timeline data to user devices. Since there is no longer a Timeline web interface, this extension no longer has a cache to draw data from. I wonder if the developer of this extension would be able to develop an app which can draw Timeline data now stored on user devices. Alternatively, I wonder if they could modify this extension so that users can drag and drop a Timeline JSON file exported using Takeout. I would really love (and would be willing to pay) to regain access to my Timeline data in Excel format.
- (2024-04-04) Kayla Marshall: Someone is terrible about keeping mileage logs. I'm not going to say who. Anyway, I needed to find the dates we went to our rental house to do repairs so I could calculate our business mileage for taxes. This tool is perfect and let me search for the address and get a list of dates. I can now go to timeline and figure out which other stops (e.g., hardware store) on that date are related! This is so much better than clicking each date on the timeline! Love it!
- (2024-03-06) Russell Hodder (Rusty): This is by far the GREATEST tool for getting USEFUL data out of google maps timeline for tax purposes. Thank you so much for creating this, and thank you even more for making it free. There are a TON of sub par programs/extensions out there that charge an arm and a leg to use it. As a programmer I salute you sir! You truly have made the world a better place with this extension. Thank you!
- (2024-01-24) John Wighton: It listed the current months travel but any attempt to change the date range resulted in - well nothing. The January trips stayed on the screen. Exportign to PDF or Excel gave only Jan travel. Tried in Chrome on WIn 7 and 10. Shame as it could have been useful.
- (2024-01-04) Ha Duy Dung: I try to use the app but maybe it is not accurate. Example: Distance value on the app is 10.133 miles but on Google Map show 11.3 mile.
