***For Chrome OS Only***

Enable mounting of a variety of archive formats (and different compression schemes) in the Files.app just like the native ZIP/RAR support that exists today. Most notably, 7z & tarballs!

Supported archive formats:
7z ar cab cpio deb iso pax rpm tar
Supported compression formats:
bzip2 gzip lzma xz Z

Please be aware that the extraction performance is not optimal with these "streaming" archive formats because of the design of the file format itself. There is little that can be done in the extension when the file itself does not include an index. Whenever you want to extract a file, the whole archive must be scanned. The larger the archive file (and the # of files in it), the slower things will be.

Through trial and error I discovered that dragging a file out works whilst the conventional copy/paste does not. Chrome OS v92.4.2 (neverware Cloudready)

Worked on a chromebook asus 101cp (The OG FlipBook) I needed to root my ZTE Zmax pro to unlock the APN even though my phone is completely unlocked. After a long stressful day, good to know some things just work. I need to unpack a 7z file, and i know my old dell d610 with windows 7 was not going to cut it. So this made it easy. Thank you. Dana Cheshire 2021-04-27: Installs perfectly with no errors, but there's nothing else you can do. If you try to open a 7z file, Files asks you which app. When you select this app, all it shows you is reviews with no way to actually open the file.

Matthew WIDELL 2021-02-24: Wicked Good Archiver has been very useful to open .7z and .tar.gz files on my Chromebook. It is a shame that ChromeOS limitations prevent support of split archives. Thanks for the small update that adds the UI that instructs how to use and remove the app - this seemed to confuse a lot of people before.

I know that there are probably glitches in this app because many people have said so, but I'm going to chalk that up to them having the wrong Chrome OS version or type. I have a chromebook that can't run apks at the time of this post, so this is the only good way i have of getting into this stuff without a webapp. Probably do check to see if you have the right Chrome OS version before installing (apparently it will otherwise not work and will be unable to be uninstalled), my build is "87.0.4280.109 (Official Build) (64-bit)" on platform "13505.73.0 (Official Build) stable-channel kip" with firmware "Google_Kip.5216.227.195". And this app works perfectly on mine. So while this app literally isn't for everyone, it is a very useful app and it works perfectly fine. I hope this was helpful. Edit: You can now delete this app using settings if it spazzed out on your chromebook.

Ethan Redfern 2020-11-22: Don't have a clue why there are people giving this bad ratings and saying it is a scam and all the comments are bots. If you aren't aware, this is aimed at chromebook users and to be used in the ChromeOS files app. It has worked perfectly fine for years and you can delete it, contrary to what people say in the reviews. All you do to use it is right click and press open in... You can then extract files perfectly fine. And when you are done, you can right click the app in your app drawer and press uninstall, all these Karens are lying to u.

E Cohen 2020-09-07: Really like it!. I really enjoy that I can now extract .7z .iso .tar .bz2 and .deb files! The only problem I have is it's REALLY slow to copy or move files from the file that it opened. EX: If you open a .7z file and move a file in it to the downloads or a usb it takes a long time to do so. But other then that, Really Good Extension!
Precious Webster 2020-07-31: Hey I got crossed up trying to download the fire fox soft ware, and down loaded this. How ever I no longer want it and would like to remove it from my computer. I cant find it in my files anymore, but I can clearly see it with the rest of my apps. But it does't give me the option to "remove" the app like the others do. Can some one help me get this off of my computer?

James Ross 2020-07-24: Little slow (especially for .zip files: the Chrome OS default is faster), but works fine. I see lots of negative reviews here from people who don't realise that you can't open the app directly - you have to try to open an archive with it and it does its thing and mounts the archive in the Files app. I also tried to uninstall after reading some of the other reviews, but it installs/uninstalls easily for me (on Acer 714).
