Install this extension to set Norton Safe Search as your default search provider for Chrome.
Norton Safe Search helps defend you from identity thieves and online scams by warning you of dangerous sites when you search, shop or browse online.
Norton Safe Search provides you added peace of mind from online threats by:
- Marking unsafe web results
- Providing you with safety ratings on search results
- Letting you know which shopping sites are safe.
Note that this extension only enables resetting Norton Safe Search as your default search provider on Google Chrome. For maximum Web protection, download the Norton Safe Web extension

This extension uses permissions that produce the following Chrome messages to perform necessary functions within the extension.
“Read your browsing history”
Shown for permissions needed for creation and management of tabs and information from the extension’s installation page.
“This extension can read and change your data on sites. You can control which sites the extension can access.”
Shown for permissions needed for exchange of configuration information for performing safety markup on search results.
“Change your search settings to: searchsafe.norton.com”
Shown for permissions needed for delivery of search results through the Norton Safe Search service.

- (2022-11-25) Isabelle Deknop: Recherches avec Norton un peu fouillis mais je constate une colonne de résultats à droite avec des résultats plus poussés. C'est une bonne idée. C'est très différent de Google et Google reste plus pratique avec davantage d'infos et de pistes de recherches.

- (2021-11-28) bjbaldori: This product has made me sorry I switched from McCaffe! All I get are pop-ups telling me I need to buy this, change to that, etc. I never had this issue with McCaffe and never had a problem. Before my renewal I will be switching back.

It did work in the background and I did not receive all those annoying pop-ups trying to sell another product...or even wanting me to install for free. I also had paid to add LifeLock at one time and liked it also. Now, however, I agree with the many reviewers who are unhappy that NORTON has chosen to override Chrome (or any browser) with Yahoo. I never have liked Yahoo. I have tried to choose Chrome as my default with no luck. I also often get pop-ups notifying me I should install NORTON on my other devices. I already installed it on my phone and wonder why they don't know that. I really don't know where to go from here because I do want my laptop and phone protected.

- (2021-04-06) Robert Moore: This used to be a very good extension. Not perfect, by any means, but quite helpful. The most recent updated has just turned this into Yahoo's Safe Search. It's worthless. It simply changes your default search engine. No longer does it show you what is "safe" in a search on Google.
