- (2018-04-03) Karl Gingerich: When enabled and breakmarks set, the debug window shows up all black and empty on my Chromebook. Running a node project. UPDATE: Not sure what happened the first time. Re-opened it it was fine?!
- (2017-12-01) Janel Grant: Since cloud9 was acquired by amazon, I am unable to use this extension. Does not recognize my AWS Cloud9 account and unable to sign up for an account at the original cloud9 website.
- (2017-08-20) Andy Huynh: Although I very much like the service, the app itself is just a bookmark with copy/paste functionality. It should be listed as an extension rather than an app.
- (2017-07-29) joshua crocker: Requires credit card to sign up for "free" account.
- (2017-05-17) Eva Goins: Impressive! I love all the language support compatibilities, especially for Ubuntu!
- (2017-04-01) Blanc: Really liked this ide - until they discontinued ftp support. Bad move guys - developers may not mind, but simple webmasters like myself need this on chrome, and it's not like we take up much server space for simple html sites
- (2017-03-02) Doug Byrd: Requires CC info even if you only want the free account. Not Cool.
- (2016-11-20) This is the official Cloud9 app: https://community.c9.io/t/is-this-the-official-chrome-web-store-app-for-cloud-9/11282 It also is more than a bookmark, it does add 'Paste' to the context menu and may add other functionality in the future.
- (2016-10-06) rooper taku (takurooper): I cant sign up. Keep failing the registration with the message CAPTCHA CODE ERROR. I´m sure I´m not a robot. Frustrated.
- (2016-10-05) You are the best!
- (2016-09-23) Imtiaz Uddin: ITS NOT AN APP. ITS A BOOKMARK THAT USES THE APP LIBRARY. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH IT
- (2016-09-16) Simon Johnson (Amalgyte): In the middle of getting to grips with Angular2 Final Release. This chrome plugin gets round the clipboard issues. The C9.io site is an invaluable tool. Offline I use notepad or PHPStorm online I use C9 and the transition is faultless. BTW I am in no way linked to C9 other than a free customer. Cannot recommend enought. Offline editor in the future would be great ;-)
- (2016-08-22) Harald Geving: Failed at signup. Couldn't create account.
- (2016-08-07) Ben Nicholson: It's nothing more than a shortcut to their website. Additionally, even if you're using the free service, you need to provide them a credit card. I didn't go past that step because I'm not just going to provide my CC details to any company.
- (2016-07-29) Romain Vincent (sylq): What is the purpose of this app ? Cloud9 is accessible from your browser without it. I don't understand...
- (2016-05-26) Harley Fioretti: I asked them for this when the chrome books came out, I'm excited! This is amazing for CPUs with no space / processing power. still good otherwise.
- (2016-05-09) Jake Docherty: who else thought it was IhasQupcakes Cloud 9 series on minecraft
- (2016-02-18) Sivashanmugam Kannan: before c9.io i was 30% system admin and 70% developer. After c9 i am 100% developer thanks for giving it free for a solo developers, Definitely will move on to premium when i work with multiple persons. Keep the good and great work.
- (2016-02-10) Popey Gilbert: An amazing IDE, the absolute best I've used.
- (2016-02-06) Nissan Ahmed: Absolutely awesome. I'm feeling lucky that I've found this IDE.
- (2016-02-05) Rhett Prestwich: Incredible. I love that I can now code on my Chromebook. I'm getting my CS degree and I'm in the early stages so I'm just programming small C++ programs and this is perfect!!!
- (2016-01-18) Sarath Jasrin: Nice concepts!
- (2016-01-08) Jh C: absolutely brilliant!
- (2015-11-13) Flávio Melo: My favorite cloud IDE
- (2015-10-15) Robin Lespagnard: One of the best web IDE's there are. I love it
- (2015-09-10) Jonathan Arendt: This is just a link, but it also adds features such as the native clip board. This allows you to use win-c on windows or command-c on mac.
- (2015-06-18) Gareth McNicol: This does not fix the native clipboard issue. I am unable to copy from one c9 workspace, to another. Or from a workspace into another application
- (2015-05-15) Bryan Winter: I really like it. I use different machines during the week because my job is 60% work from home, so I been looking for a good cloud editor for over a year now. It's quite powerful. The Immediate window is very cool, and the breakpoint features let you see the data at any given instant in time in a nice folder interface. I may find something better some day in the future, but my goto editor is cloud9 now for the forseeable future.
- (2015-04-21) google account name: Amazing link to c9.io! Cloud9 itself is amazing though
- (2015-04-10) John Ryan: It is just a link to the site. Make an app like nitrous does.
- (2015-02-12) Gemini Yellow: i need desktop version, this app just a link.
- (2015-01-24) Albino Adriano Cordeiro: Hard to believe a Web IDE could be so good. For some reason typing in the terminal with my phone screen keyboard is really bad. There should be a way to disable autocomplete in this case.
- (2014-12-25) D.R. Buckley, Jr.: I find it helpful and easy to use.
- (2014-12-16) Axel Napolitano: Cloud9 follows the right path with an eye on functionality and design. The IDE itself is really powerful and has the right feature set for most open source, hobby and semi-professional web development projects. The main advantage is, that no installation is required and you can instantly start developing on any machine (including tablets). A good integration of collaborative functionality is a big plus, if working with a decentralized team of developers. And even if you only need occasionally a tool to write or edit code, Cloud9 may be a perfect match, because you can start free and instantly. But: The plugin / extension for chrome isn't worth to install it - there is in fact to benefit compared to a bookmark except of the nice icon in your app drawer. Downsides of Cloud9: There is no strong or yet communicated security concept and the available plans of the provider are very inflexible for most of us. There are only two: Free and Paid. Strong encryption is something wich is mandatory today. Cloud9 does not provide information about encryption of idle or squeezed environments. Also multifactor authentication is not yet supported, but is also a must these days. I would prefer that any environment will be encrypted with a custom keyphrase after logout or definable idle time, so that even in case of an unforeseen hack or crack the code and other data are as safe as possible. For this i would pay an extra fee per month. With the free tier you get one private project. That's fine so far. With the paid tier (there is only one option) you get 5 private projects - for me this is not enough. There is also no easy or convenient way to use own domains or subdomains for the environment, which is a little bit annoying. At least deployment features are very poor. So usually you need additional services and configuration to get a efficient workflow (e.g. you may decide to use bitbucket + codeship for continuous integration/delivery. Bright sides: Anyway, Cloud9 is - AFAIK - currently the most elegant and most powerful browser based IDE available on the market and it's very affordable too. I hope that the annoyances and the lack of strong security and encryption will be solved in the not too far future - then i will decide to use it also on selected client projects. Until this happens, it's still gut for working on open source.
- (2014-12-02) Cecer: Ignore all the people saying it's just a link. YES it is a link to their site but it makes features like accessing the native clipboard possible.
- (2014-09-27) worthless as an extension. It just opens c9.io...
- (2014-09-18) Deepak Chhikara: Please, release chrome app for it. Great Job!!
- (2014-09-01) Michael Edlinger: Don't get me wrong, Cloud 9 is great. This app, however, is not. It's not even an app, it's just a link to their site!
- (2014-08-20) Santiago Marín rojas: Excellent
- (2014-08-18) Baros Hajji: am enjoying it.its marvelous.
- (2014-08-05) ciccio pueblo: nice!
- (2014-06-25) Luke M: Unintuitive, bad UI, could not see partners in real time. Is definitely not the Google docs of IDE's. Will revise if I find a way to collaborate correctly, should be easier then this.
- (2014-06-09) Robert Forster: It is only a link to the web page :-( Please add at least auto login via Google account to give it a little additional value compared to the HP
- (2014-06-08) wallace mcgee: An excellent cloud-based IDE, that works wonders for developing and testing my node.js project and works well with github too. The upgraded UI/servers are much more stable and functional too!
- (2014-05-29) Great suite of services, would really appreciate an up to date tutorial with instructions to integrate Cloud9 with Google Cloud/Appengine. Thanks, John
- (2014-05-02) Daniel Amber: Been experimenting with cloud ide's and this has been my favourite. its really cool.
- (2014-04-09) Brian Jones: Great online ide - simple, no fuss does exactly whats required. For those naysayers who deride that there is only 1 space - delete the demo project after you have toured it.
- (2014-02-15) Nicholas Tillinghast-Lewman: The experience using (or attempting to use) Cloud 9 has been the complete opposite from what its name would suggest. I knew that something was awry the moment that I activated my account and it immediately told me that I had already used up 2 of my workspaces. It did, however, conveniently send me to its marketing page to suggest I pay for more workspaces. Fat chance! I attempted to use the demo project just to try the IDE and it told me that it was unable to access the workspace. I'll try this one more time by removing and reactivating my account. But if that doesn't work, I'm checking out another IDE.
- (2014-02-08) Harley Wilson: The best of its kind as of yet, just somewhat plagued by infrequent down time, it seems. Also, laughing at the guy calling others illiterate and yet thinking that saving to the cloud actually means anything other than saving to someone else's servers. That's kind of the point.
