This extension lets you take Honorlock proctored online exams using the Google Chrome browser. This is a single purpose extension.
Honorlock’s automated proctoring solution requires no logins and no scheduling. No longer will students need to schedule a time in order to take an online exam. The whole point of taking online courses is that you can complete them on your time and at your pace. Honorlock will always put the student first and strive to be as invisible to the student as possible.
Honorlock Automated Proctoring Highlights:
* Honorlock will only monitor you during your exam session. Once your exam is completed, you can remove the Honorlock extension with no issue.
* We gather as little personally identifiable information as possible. The information we do gather has never and will never be shared or sold to any third party.
* When first installing the Honorlock Extension, Google Chrome will ask your permission for the access and features we need in order to effectively monitor your exam session.
Speaking of permissions, here are the permissions we require to use the Honorlock extension, but most importantly, why we require them:
* READ AND CHANGE ALL THE DATA ON THE WEBSITES YOU VISIT
* The only reason we need this permission is to allow your professors the ability to block non-exam sites from being accessed. On the professors exam settings dashboard, they are able to choose which sites their students can and can’t visit during the exam session. Other than this, we do not remove or make changes to any websites you visit.
* COMMUNICATE WITH COOPERATING WEBSITES
* During your exam session, Honorlock may need to send and request data from the learning management system in order to ensure the exam is being proctored as the instructor intended.
* CAPTURE CONTENT OF YOUR SCREEN
* When required by the respective exam instructor, Honorlock uses a video streaming service to capture the students screen. You will be made aware when this feature is being used in the exam, and you will be prompted to share your screen. We will never capture any students\' screen without their knowledge and consent.
Honorlock is SOC 2 Compliant and has been awarded the SOC 2 Certification. To achieve this status, you need to adhere to the following Trust Principles:
* Security: Secure against unauthorized access. Implement systems and tools to prevent security breaches.
* Availability: Ensure the Honorlock service is available and operation.
* Processing Integrity: Ensure the Honorlock service delivers the needed data when requested.
* Confidentiality: Only authorized individuals are able to access the data gathered by Honorlock. In addition, this data is purged according to our data retention and disposal policies.
* Privacy: In addition to following our Privacy Policy, Honorlock adheres to the criteria set forth in the AICPA’s generally accepted privacy principles. We gather the least amount of PII as necessary and purge the data we do gather in a timely manner.
All Honorlock employees are required to complete several Cyber Security and PII training seminars and courses. Honorlock undergoes regular audits to ensure compliance. Needless to say, we take the security and privacy of our users very seriously.

- Actual spyware. Stay away from any courses that use this application, and if you do need to use it, remove it immediately after your exam. Ridiculous rules and functions, mediocre support, and very invasive.

- to the people saying "iT's A tOtAl InVaSiOn Of PrIvAcY" nobody is stealing your "data" and nobody is selling it either, who would want to buy some random people's pictures on a webcam, that's literally all it has access to other than looking at your current screen. It's not like they take access of your computer, honestly so many people are overreacting, it legit shouldn't affect you, you just think you're special.

- I think it is really messed up that universities all around the country have to use this disgusting app. Maybe one day I won't have to give up privacy to pass a class. The things you have to allow for this software is creepy and disturbing. Thank you Honorlock team for making college that much worse.

- Its appaling to me that we have to give up our right to privacy for this software. It tracks your home network, computer, and any other devices. It should be classified as malware

- The permissions are more invasive than any malware i have ever encountered not to mention the fact that it picks up "errors" that do not even exist causing issues with the teachers and grading. There were countless more reviews and ratings a week ago so this developer knows it is failing miserably as well as being invasive, but is deleting said reviews without so much as a word in order to save face. That of course is dependent on this horrific app working at all through it's incessant data mining.

- Webcam kept disconnecting during my test (Not from my PC itself from the stream connection). Was seriously hard to focus on my test while it kept pausing to have me re establish a connection every 5 minutes. I'm not sure if it was an internet problem or me constantly looking down (we were allowed a formula sheet and scratch paper in this instance) but it was a frustrating experience that affected my grade.

- I am very uncomfortable with the permissions I had to grant Honorlock in order to install the software. I regret that my University is requiring me choose between forfeiting my privacy rights and failing a class. I will be removing this software immediately after my exam.

- They've removed about 60-70 reviews from the Chrome page in the last week or so; they had a huge spike in negative reviews because this is a complete invasion of privacy, but many of those reviews (including my own) are nowhere to be found on this page. Seems even sketchier for a company to have many of its bad reviews removed...

- had the most horrible time trying to install and run the program. Had to go to the school campus and use their test facility in order to complete my exam. This software is absolutely useless and i will not be using it again

- I was not able to access my exam for some reason. When I contacted the Helpdesk, he remoted into my computer and came to the same conclusion as I had described- That the due date had passed. when I tried to show him the extension he ended the session. Just bad service.

- Not only was it supposedly suppose to work fine it goes without a doubt when on your computer it would just minimize my screen every time I want to go to my next portion of my quizzes and exams

- The extension works fine for what it is, but it requires a lot of permissions that I'm not comfortable with. I understand the need for secure proctoring services, but it is just creepy knowing that somebody is staring at you the whole time you're taking a test. At least when you take a test in class, someone is there, but they aren't staring directly at you the whole time. It increased my stress and anxiety regarding the proctored tests and led to worse performance on my part. If you have to use this for a class, I strongly recommend disabling it when you aren't using it, because those permissions are ripe for abuse.
