ScriptCat, a browser extension that can execute user scripts, everything can be scripted, allowing your browser to do more things!
## About
We built a framework for executing background scripts and Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey scripts based on the design ideas of Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey. It also has several unique APIs that enable scripts to do more. Furthermore, we provide a fantastic online editor that makes script code development more pleasant and easy.

- After installing this extension the browser tried to connect to random domains. I only had Scriptcat and ViolentMonkey tabs open to export/import the scripts, so it couldn't have been anything else. Here are some of the domains: survey-smiles.com, fc-lc.xyz, fir3.net, cloudgallery.net, blackwidof.org, a2zapk.io, q.gs, urlcash.net, goneviral.com, imgbar.net, imgcandy.net. Clearly this extension is trying to open or inject random ad sites (if not malicious code).

- Not only is it good, but it has this unique feature: VSCode integration. I just install the scriptcat-vscode extension from the VSCode marketplace, and whenever I edit and save my userscript in VSCode, boom—it's instantly on ScriptCat. No more manually copy-pasting my userscript every single time. It's hard to go back to other userscript manager that lacks this feature, especially in 2026.

- The script editor is ridiculously nearly impossible to use on a mobile phone that is the only complaint and it is a deal breaker unfortunately. Also script cat says developer mode needs to be enabled to run scripts and yet it is already enabled and therefore it doesn't work

- So far, so good. I switched to ScriptCat from Violetmonkey around a week ago. At first, I could not import all my userscripts until I added @version, but in the next version they won't require you to have @version in your userscript header. All of my userscripts worked well, just like I wanted, unlike Tampermonkey which never worked for me. It took me a few days to familiarize myself with a few things that were not immediately apparent, but I learned that there are some things that I can do in ScriptCat that I can't do in Violetmonkey. Like switch between multiple open userscripts to copy bits and pieces from each one. There were a few minor bugs or things that could be improved, but I reported them and they are already working on it. Some of the things have already been resolved and will be out in the next version, whenever that comes out. Maybe this is a four star extension in its current state, but since it is being actively worked on, is improving each day, and is the only worthwhile MV3 userscript manager extension out there, I will give it five stars. It does everything that I want. So that is good enough for me. At first, I was hesitant to try ScriptCat because some of the early reviews seemed fake and scripted, but I am glad that I gave it a chance. It is the only userscript manager extension for me.

- A script manager developed in China that supports backend scripts and timed scripts. This is a function that tampering monkeys do not possess. This extension has a beautiful interface. Hope for continuous updates.

- After ViolentMonkey's demise of Manifest v2, ScriptCat looks promising but fails to deliver even close performance or UI features. If you check their site (mostly Chinese), you'll see even it advertises itself to be a TamperMonkey clone. TamperMonkey is literally the oldest script manager there's so I'd rather switch back to it instead of switching into this unknown extension. I recently checked my extension collection and saw lots of extensions either being banned or removed due to their practices so sticking with TamperMonkey instead of having to remove ScriptCat in the future for another reason.
