A Chrome Extenstion used to download and archive Facebook® messages(chat/conversation)
FB Message Downloader
Use this extension to download your FB messages.
To start downloading, please follow this steps:
Step 1: Open the conversation in the full mode using the following link: https://www.facebook.com/messages/t
Step 2: Select the conversation that you want to download.
Step 3: Press the Message/Chat Downloader extenstion icon in the address bar.
Step 4: Select the date range you want and press start download.
Note:
- Make sure that you don't leave or close the page until the download is finished.
- Depending on the number of messages the download might take from seconds to several minutes.
- When the download finishes the page will be updated to only show your selected conversation.
Step 5: To save your message, go to File->Save Page As and save it.
Note:
- Make sure to select 'Webpage, Complete' as the format.
- The saved file should be opened using Firefox only.

- Doesn't work. It has a message saying "Due to recent update to Facebook, this chrome extension is currently unable to download your messages. Please check back again as I'm working on a fix as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and support." No idea when this notification was added, no idea what the ETA on a fix is, no idea if this is actively being developed anymore.

- I've used it before and it always worked perfectly. BUT now it says there's been some Facebook update and I can't use it at all! Please, please fix it!

- Tutorial outdated, didn't work, it turns blue when I switched to Messenger tab, but general options only appeared (which normally happens to most extensions) I disabled "Allow in Incognito/In-Private" somehow worked when I used it on Reddit, but it only dimmed the whole webpage, then I opened the inspect element on it, and I saw this: "Due to recent update to Facebook, this chrome extension is currently unable to download your messages."

- UPDATE: As of Feb 2021, it won't open. No longer works. Was 4-5 stars. Hope it gets fixed, I'll def update my review! ........... Old Review: Now works with the updated, late 2020, FB Messenger! Great for gathering and saving evidence from an abusive situation, or simply collecting memoires from loved ones. This extension works wonders, and is fast! It saves gifs, videos, and pictures sent throughout the messages, as well! FEATURE REQUEST: to be able to carry over "chat reacts" and signify when they have "replied" to something directly. These are both semi-new features on FB, and would be great to have added here as well.

- This extension would never work the way the How To video showed. Was never given the option to choose a date range. It unfortunately seems useless, in my opinion.

- El programa era bueno hasta el 2019, se podía descargar y guardar en pdf nuestras conversaciones de messenger, después hicieron modificaciones en la presentación de la extensión (estadísticas en mensajes enviados y recibidos), luego surgió fallas al guardar las conversaciones en pdf (solo captura una hoja del total descargado) Envié un correo al patrocinador/creador de la extensión acerca de las falencia y no ha tenido la cortesía de responder a pesar de haber colaborado comprando un coffe para ayudar a mantener esta página. LAMENTABLE UNA DECEPCIÓN...

- Amazing extension. It's working again since the new update. Just update it by removing the extension and then adding it back, and it will work. This extension will create a beautiful web layout of your chat, along with full timestamps, pictures, etc. You can then save the webpage, or you can also highlight the text you want, and then copy and paste it into a Word document. That's how I prefer to save anything. I liked it so much that I decided to donate $10 to the programmer.
