Pounce’s Accessibility Diagnostics Tool is an internal tool made public, a concept that Pounce Agency built to show website accessibility issues in a visual way to explain what's going on.
Running inside a browser, the Pounce Accessibility Diagnostics Tool scans the webpage you're on for key accessibility issues, highlighting them, taking you to them, and even providing a spreadsheet export so you can come back to them and fix them later.
Our tool covers four key areas in accessibility:
Missing ARIA labels
Missing Alt text
Missing Landmarks
Missing ARIA roles
If your site flags for any of these issues, the tool will light up and draw a border around each affected element. From there, you can press the “Find More” button to work your way around the page and find all of them, and turn various layers off to see each accessibility area as it’s applied to your page. You can even clear the site of our drawn layers to return your web experience to normal.
Importantly, the Pounce Accessibility Diagnostics Tool is how Pounce's accessibility experts explain to clients where forward-facing problems in accessibility sit, before diving deep down under the hood for a look at more complex issues.
As part of our regular efforts on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we've decided to make the Pounce Accessibility Diagnostics Tool extension free for everyone to use, in the hopes that it encourages more websites to embrace accessibility and improve sites.
And if you don't know how to fix your site, we've included a handy button to take you to an agency that can help.
