Prolific Assistant

Doesn't work anymore.

Extension worked unto a few weeks ago. Shows the list of studies available, but when you click on it, it takes me to an Error 404 "Page does not exist" error even though the study is active.

Not bad but as of early Sept '25 most of the popup links don't work. They take me to a 404 page on Prolific, and from there I need to hop back to the home page and hope that the surveys are still listed. The URLs all _look_ OK, but don't work any more.

Error 404 every single time, not working right now.

Used to be very useful but seems to be broken. I've tried everything to fix it but I get the same 404 message, please update! Even when it worked you had to be careful because it would log you out and not let you know so you had to constantly check and log back in otherwise you would just miss studies thinking you weren't getting any. When it works it's great, when it doesn't work it's useless.

Exactly the same. Doesn't load studies anymore even when they are still on the prolific dashboard. Just get an error message that says "404 - page not found". Missing out on so many studies because of this

Currently does not load the study, it just sends you to an error 404 page but the study was still accessible from the main prolific dashboard. I don't know why

This used to be a very useful and convenient extension to get notifications of studies that were available but as others have noted recently for some reason it just logs you out and what is worse it that often it does not show that you are logged out so you assume that it is running but you have to click on it to verify which has led me to miss many a study! I am unsure why this has been introduced by the developers and whether there are some regulatory reasons for doing so but there has been no communication as to why or if it is an issue they are working on

not all time I'm really informed in the right time about the studies available. Most of the times 50% are already full when I'm receiving the advise about it

Doesn't stay logged in. When prompted to log in again, it gives a pop-up that doesn't have autofill. Way easier to just log in through the website, which kind of defeats the point of the extension.

Doesn't allow filtering camera/microphone requirements like the website

Why is Prolific assistant constantly logging me out!? Its very annoying. I hope this can be fixed soon

Good it works. Recently I repeated requests to log which are not effective and therefore the notifications do not work.

Its great when it works. I installed about 2 weeks ago and all was fine for about a week and helped a lot. But for the last week, I need to constantly log in to the app and I get a red ! Gets very frustrating

Not sure what happened recently but as of the last couple of weeks or so this is continuously logging me out of Prolific multiple times per day. If I have to log back into the extension 15x a day it sort of defeats the purpose.

Doesn't work 90% of time, I rather use Prolific Studies Notifier extension because it actually notifies me

Amazing, There's no error. You may just want to check if the volume is high and you picked out an alert sound.

It usually does its job well, alerting me of new studies even when prolific isnt open in the background, but sometimes it takes too long to load so by the time I get to prolific from clicking the notif, all the spots have been taken. Also, recently it's been taking me to an error 404 message instead of the study.

Extension issues were resolved so, thanks. FYI Guys to enable the alert sound on desktop, go to the settings tab at the bottom of the PA ext. Most ppl miss this.

For me, this extension has always done what it has promised to do. There have been times when, if I do not have a Prolific tab open already, the extension itself will not work until I log IT specifically into Prolific, but that seems like it should be an expected behavior. I have no issues with it, and it gets updated regularly. It was showing up in my extensions screen as having an error due to not being V3 manifest a few days ago but it has apparently been fixed.

Can you tell us what changes were made for the update yesterday please?

I think since I downloaded the extension a year ago, I have only received one alert and even then, the study was already full. Please fix it so it can actually be useful.

Useless. I haven't received any alerts since I downloaded in May this year, and when it worked previously, the studies were always full.

Not really very useful - tells me about surveys - but when I go to them they are full and misses many others. Does not retain the voice alerts either.

Worked great the 1st day it was installed, only very rarely since then. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to stay close to computer and check often for available studies.

Absolutely garbage, hardly ever works. Has been reported multiple times in both Support emails as well as Reddit by numerous people and has yet to be fixed for the past six or seven months.

Does not alert at all. No sound or badge.

I am using it since I joined the Prolific. It worked well initially but now there is some kind of bug or it need an update, always asking for login after successful login to the account. Please Update it

If you are having the issues that you need to sign in again don't do it via extension . Just log out from the prolific account on the browser and login again then the extension works again. If you do it via extension pop up to log in you will get the account blocked for too many attempts.

Keeps signing me out, and when trying to re log in gets my account locked due to two many login attempts even though I have the correct login information, and I have to wait for an email form Prolific to unlock.

Works half of the time. Once you do get an alert for a study IF it works. It's already too late the studies are full. You get logged out too and have to log back in. I have to constantly uninstall and then reinstall to get it to work correctly again.

I'm so disappointed that things have changed so much. A few years ago I used to get verbal notifications whenever new studies became available. Now I only get email notifications and frustratingly enough, they always appear in my Spam folder, so unless I'm vigilant in checking my Spam folder, I never know when new studies are available. Also, most times, by the time I do get notifications, they're already full. Plus when I do get lucky enough to be offered a survey, they are most times already full because it takes so long for the site to load. In addition, I notice I'm constantly being logged out of Prolific. I certainly don't log out, so it's obviously a glitch, I'd say, but it's bloody annoying. I get nowhere near the amount of surveys that I used to. I've been a member of prolific for years and am becoming disappointed with the lack of surveys offered, plus notifications and login issues. Prolific, please let me know what is going on. I've sent quite a few emails to Prolific, but nobody ever responds to my emails. Have I done something wrong, or are the problems a sitewide issue? I have just read a response that suggests I reinstall Prolific for the latest version and select to receive verbal notifications. But to reinstall it, it seems I'll have to just go on the waitlist, which I don't want to do! So how can I upgrade the software without having to join the waitlist yet again?

The application is very useful, it helps to participate in more studies. Unfortunately, I see that it has changed a bit, as many people have noticed, including my colleague from Poland, namely after reinstallation (because the plugin apparently had not been updated for some time, so I installed it a second time because I noticed that it had stopped working), you have to manually change the setting to voice notification because the plugin is set to no notifications by default (this is an answer to many commenters here). And why is there no setting for the time with which the plugin checks for new studies? Could this be restored to the standard minimum setting of 60 seconds, as it used to be? Many studies are lost because some disappear even within 10 seconds, so the plugin has become much less functional because of this...

Not as good as it used to be. It logs me out constantly, never verbally says when a new survey is pushed through. When surveys do pop up on the extension they are already full.

Used to work perfectly. Nowadays, the extension logs you out against your knowledge, pretty much daily. I've also noticed that the extension sometimes stops checking for new studies. I'll click on the extension to verify that I'm logged in, and will realize that the extension last checked for a new study hours ago. If the above could be fixed, it would also be great if the extension could check for a new study every 1 minute (I think It checks every +-2 minutes). Prolific Assistant is broken. Please fix it.

Being logged out is getting really annoying now.

what did you guys have done to the extensions, it was working perfectly, now is constanly logging off and need to re login all the time , Fix it !!

Works great if it can stay logged in, seems to get logged out several times a day and the latest update made the login page a popup so my password manager can't be used because it's a popup which is annoying because who doesn't use a password manager these days. Wish the dev had kept it as a normal webpage for login not a popup.

The sound notifs stopped working a year or two ago. In the past month or two, it'll log you out at least once a day, and to log back in, it opens a new window that doesn't allow a password manager to fill in the info. As of today, I can't even paste in my email address. Pleaaase fix this ASAP!!!!
