--- Changelog:
August, 2016:
- Adlib/OPL3 backend is now the default for playing MIDI files (much faster load times).
- New, .MDX file player for songs from the Sharp X68K PC (YM2151 chip). It supports PDX library files, as well: just drop it together with the .MDX song and Muki will automatically use it.
- New, PC98 file player, for playing both .S98 files as well as .MYM ones. Consider this beta.
- Fixed VGM "double song" bug.
- Fixed a few bugs with the WebGL visualizers.
- A bunch of new songs, hand-picked as always. More to come!
March, 2016:
- New, alternate OPL3 (4-op Yamaha FM) synth for playing GM MIDI files.
- New, alternate synth for MIDIs based on Munt (Roland MT-32).
- New visualizations (WebGL based, so consider them beta).
- New settings panel, where you can manage all of these options.
- New playlist: "The Unsung".
- Improved search mode. Open it with the slash or 'S' key.
- A whole bunch of new songs! Find them on the Recently Added playlist.
-------------
This is the desktop/Chrome version of Muki, an online music player that renders MIDI and chiptune songs natively in the browser using HTML5 Web Audio and a bag of magic tricks.
Muki contains an ever-growing, carefully curated collection of songs from video games of the 90's, ranging from all-time classics to the rarest of the rare.
You can ask Muki to play songs by platform (e.g. DOS, Amiga or NES), by mood, or simply play one of the custom available playlists for a roller coaster ride of never-ending memories.
You can also play your own files by dropping them into the window from your PC. Muki supports a number of formats besides MIDI, including tracked modules (MOD, XM, S3M, IT), Nintendo and SNES music files (NSF, SPC), MDX and PC98 songs, and the VGM/VGZ format used to store music from arcades and Sega consoles.
What you'll hear is the pure, bit-perfect representation of the songs because the sound is generated directly in the browser, meaning no lossy compressed format stands between the notes and your ears.
Just beautiful.

- (2022-01-20) Michael Washboard: I like having this midi/mod player on my Chromebook, the interface looks great and it's nice that this comes with a built in music bank. I'd really like to see the addition of custom soundfonts, the Mario 64 instruments would be nice to use. The only thing I found a little odd was the menu "genre" being used for the game genre which the music came from and not music genre, you might want to clarify it as "Game Genre" or something like that. Other than that, it's great to use, would recommend. :D
- (2019-09-12) Syd Basil: I loved this program except for one thing. this application says it can play stuff other than midi that is on my computer. but none of the files I put in work and they work (downloaded via famitracker I think and vgmpf.com can you fix this issue or say that the files won't work unless they're midi (which didn't work either)

- (2016-08-08) Oscar Anon: I made an awful Google+ account just to review this software, I've been a follower of this "project" for months now and am in love with the effort, time and passion the creator has put in The UI is beautiful, the ease of use is out of this word and it's a nice, flat, simple layout Epic selection of music, excellent to listen to when you need to feel contempt with yourself at 4-5am in the morning, I could not thank the creator more for helping me get through stuff by creating and updating such an app
- (2015-11-14) Nico Brenner: Love the app. Very cool player and great selection of music. Really unique, haven't found anything like this for this type of music anywhere else. Thank you!
