BetterTools gives you full control over YouTube with a cleaner interface, better playback tools, and practical upgrades in one lightweight extension. It is built for people who actually spend time on the platform like students, creators, music listeners, and power users who want less clutter and more control.

YouTube is great, but the default setup does not work for everyone. BetterTools lets you customize how the site looks, sounds, and acts. You can remove distractions like Shorts and screen clutter, improve playback with custom skip times, and make the screen easier to look at with dark mode and layout controls. You can also boost the volume, tweak the EQ, and add features you wish YouTube already had.

For video playback, you can force your preferred HD resolution and frame rate to load automatically. You get a fast forward toolkit to set custom skip amounts and shortcut keys. We added a dedicated loop button right on the player, faster playback speed presets, better picture in picture controls, and a fix to stop accidental scrolling when you click the player.

If you want a cleaner screen, you can hide Shorts, end cards, annotations, comments, and the sidebar. You can also force full video titles to show, use a compact grid layout, and clean up theater mode. Every feature has a simple on and off switch, so you only use what you want.

The audio tools let you boost the volume for quiet videos, enhance the bass, and use a ten band equalizer to fine tune the sound while you watch. Visually, you can apply filters to change video brightness and contrast, improve cinema mode, and customize the player with new progress bar themes, skins, and accent colors.

There are also plenty of extra tools built in. You can track your watch time, use your mouse wheel to change the volume, block specific channels, and skip sponsor segments. We also included a random video button, custom CSS for advanced users, and power shortcuts.

We built BetterTools to run smoothly without bloating your browser. The extension only asks for the permissions it needs to save your settings and modify YouTube pages. We do not mine your data or mess with other websites.

To get started, just install BetterTools, open the menu while on YouTube, and flip the switches for the features you want. Keep in mind that YouTube updates its site often, so if a layout change breaks a feature, let us know so we can fix it quickly.
