Highlight These Words adds an always-on, instantly configurable layer to every page you visit. Type a list of keywords—names, product SKUs, error codes, medical terms, hashtags—and the extension hunts them down the moment content appears, wrapping each match in a subtle <mark> element. The result is a gentle fluorescent stripe that jumps off the page without breaking the layout. Because the content script re-runs whenever new nodes are injected (infinite scroll, single-page apps, chat windows), the highlight never lags behind dynamic sites.
One-click keyword editing
The pop-up presents a clean, monospaced list. Press Enter to add a term, click ❌ to remove, or hit Clear All when you start a new project.
Whole-word toggle
Need “art” but not “partial”? Enable Whole word only and the engine wraps the search term in \\b boundaries.
Custom colour picker
Not everyone loves textbook yellow on dark mode. Pick any RGB shade; the extension writes it inline so the highlight survives every web font and theme.
Who benefits the most?
Research scientists & graduate students
Literature reviews often revolve around a handful of key concepts. Auto-highlighting lets them skim 50-page papers and still spot “CRISPR-Cas9” or “graphene oxide” in seconds.
Investigative journalists & analysts
Following a developing story across dozens of sources? Add company names or court case numbers; the coloured bar reveals fresh leads hidden in paragraphs.
E-commerce power users
Dropshippers monitor supplier sites for “out of stock” or “price dropped”. Highlighting these terms turns a tedious scroll into a quick scan.
Why download instead of using Ctrl-F?
Persistent across tabs and sessions – A browser search vanishes when you reload; “Highlight These Words” stays until you delete the term.
Multi-term, multi-page – Browser built-in finder highlights only one string at a time and only on the foreground tab; this extension handles unlimited words on every tab.
