A simple Chrome App to scan your paper documents directly from your Chromebook thanks to the open-source project SANE.
Be aware that only SANE-compatible Scanners will work out of the box for now since Lorgnette relies on the open-source project SANE ("Scanner Access Now Easy"). Therefore make sure your document scanner is in the list before.

- (2023-11-29) R N: Great simple app!! Works well. It's nice that you don't have to set anything up.
- (2023-06-24) Zaenal Abidin: The app work well and I use printer HP DESKJET 2700 SERIES
- (2022-04-23) egér Macska: Works amazing with my HP InkTank Wireless over wifi. One thing that I would like to see though is being able to change which scanner to use.
- (2021-09-23) c chrome: worked with epson 2760 wifi, had tried many things and only scan worked. puts files in sub-folder 'scan' in downloads (note: need to open download folder to see it)
- (2021-09-07) Trevor Bartram: Scan worked with our Canon LiDE110 scanner but needs a multi page option just like my Ubuntu SANE document scanner app!
- (2021-06-18) Hope Waffleson: This app is very good for scanning my schoolwork from home. It worked great as long as you don't have too many files in the "Scan" section.
- (2021-05-17) John Blackledge: It was time for my once-yearly scan so I ran the HP Smart app (normal printing doesn't need it) and clicked the scan option. Now it wants to call home-base first? Since when? Ok, I logged on with my previous details, and 2 hours later it's still a spinning circle. - 2 times yesterday, and 2 times today! Some prat at the other end has obviously 'improved' the code on their server. 😤 But I can use a scan app on the Playstore: Scan: Offered by: François Beaufort Great little app - worked first tie.
- (2021-04-12) Frederick Heineman: Works great. I've been a Chromebook user for years but was always annoyed at having to boot my PC to scan from my Epson ET-2550. This app was simple to use, intuitive and works seamlessly. I was somewhat surprised to see the rather low overall rating.
- (2021-03-03) Spear Technical Services: Useless. Yet another app that promises that a USB scanner will work on a Chromebook, and like the others, it never delivers.
- (2021-02-23) Peter Heald: It's tough to find a scanning app for Chromebooks that doesn't require all sorts of messing with your network (at the very least) but the SANE (appropriately named) open-source project seems to be aiming to fix that. My printer wasn't listed on their site (http://www.sane-project.org/) as one that has been tested, only as one that should work as it's similar to others in the same family (Canon G-series Pixma). I installed the app, hit scan, and poof - the png appeared in the new Scan folder. Certainly no bells and whistles, nothing to configure... but if all you want is to hit a button and get your file... it does the job.
- (2021-02-11) Mario Martinez: Does exactly what it says, a simple scan. You get a pop up to name the document and then off it goes and scan from my older Canon MG7500 wirelessly. I was thinking it might be time to replace my all in one with something built to be compatible with Chromebooks, but this little app bridges the gap. I have been using the Canon mobile app so that is still an option if I want more features, but for a quick simple scan this did the job.
- (2021-02-07) Alayjiah Alcide: Did absolutely nothing. When I pinned the icon and pressed on it, it didn't do anything. It sucks, I was really looking forward to using it.
- (2021-01-24) Kevin Carpenter: Unfortunately, my all-in-one from Brother is not recognized by the app. I am able to print to my all-in-one using USB, but my device must not be SANE compatible(?) Maybe it is inSANE. Ha!
- (2020-12-19) ger R: It works, but unfortunately no settings for scan color or file type.
- (2020-12-09) Maples Marten: Great extension, easy to install and use. Worked well without any additional configuration.
- (2020-11-01) Mellow Flello: Worked for me with my Epson Workforce WiFi Printer/Scanner. I tried 3 Epson apps but none of them worked. This simple app downloaded quickly and worked straight away. The app is very simple so don't expect any settings etc. Click on the Scan app. A small window opens up where you can enter a file name. Then click scan and away it goes. The scanned file was saved in a folder called "scan".
- (2020-09-28) Aaron Moore: I downloaded the app and as I later read it is only for SANE printers. I often get the Brother All-in-One fax and scanners but this app did not work with the machine (DCP-L2550DW). They did not lie but if you do not read all before you download you will have a useless app.
- (2020-09-10) Makayla Situ: Terrible, can't even scan a document. Says no scanner.
- (2020-09-10) Dumitru Mocanu: wrong
- (2020-08-31) L Moore: It's working again! I started using this app years ago--worked fine for a long time. A year ago give or take it stopped working. Through quite a few CrOS updates it remained broken--couldn't find scanner. I'd try it again after each update, then only tried sporadically. But now with the recent update (to the app) it's working again with the latest CrOS (84) update. Hope it keeps working (till Google pulls all Chrome apps from the store anyway). Thanks for the fix.
- (2020-04-13) Stephen Burwinkel II: I installed this on my Lenovo Chromebook and the app doesn't even open.
- (2020-04-09) Andy Jones: Doesn't work with Epson SX235W
- (2020-04-02) john young: App won't launch.
- (2020-03-24) Johnathon Cains: Doesn't even open, dissapointing really.
- (2020-02-07) Christine Mwale: I do not really know how to use it. I have connected to my HP scanner but it is not scanning
- (2019-07-06) Armando Albarracin: Doesn't work
- (2019-04-25) nanna takru: doesn work
- (2018-11-17) Meriicistyle: Thanks for making a not working app.
- (2018-09-17) Danielle Van Boxel: Not compatible with my SANE-capable scanner (works fine with SANE under Ubuntu). Description should be updated to reflect compatibility with only some SANE-safe devices.
- (2018-08-07) Karen Marie Lorenzo: it doesnt do anything. It wont scan
- (2018-06-28) Kirke Campbell: Great idea but "Scanner not available" with my Canon Pixima MX726. No response at the printer either. The Android version of Canon Print does work well, but it would be helpful to scan from my Chromebox. Thanks for the possibility.
- (2018-06-15) Nigel Alberto Farina: Simply does not work at all, at least with my HP C4280 all-in-one printer & scanner. This needs improvements.
- (2018-06-13) Christian Gøllner Kolsrud: Lot of problems. Scanner not avaliable all the time.
- (2018-06-07) virginia wakefield: DIdn't work. That's all.
- (2018-05-24) R: Canonscan LIDE 200 ON Acer Notebook not working. No power to scanner.
- (2018-05-04) not working on Asus C302...
- (2018-03-18) Cosmo Lee: Very basic, but worked for me in a crunch. It only worked from my flatbed - not the page feeder. Once you scan the file it doesn't tell you where it saves it. On my Chromebook I opened the Files app, then looked in the "scan" folder.
- (2018-01-22) Maria Eduarda Caldas: There's no instructions
- (2018-01-08) Martin Parnham: Seems to work fine on my ASUS Chromebook with Epson Expression Home XP-322. Digs me out of a hole really as my printer isn't compatible with Scan to Cloud!
- (2017-12-28) Stan Taylor: Very rudimentary, but does what it says with my SANE-compatible flatbed scanner.
- (2017-10-31) Tom Staels: doesn't even open.
- (2017-10-28) Jan Peter Mulder: Fantastic! It was realy PlugAndPlay for my Canon LIDE 110 scanner.
- (2017-10-08) Doesn't work with the 1x500
- (2017-09-19) Michael Fawcett: Functional. Plugged in my Canon LiDE 220 and off it went. No problem. Would be nice to chose the folder it scans to.
- (2017-09-10) Adam Barnett: When it works it's great. But when it doesn't, which is often, it sucks. The scan file should show up in the files app but at least fifty percent of the time doesn't, despite the fact that the scan app tells you it has indeed finished scanning and saving a document.
- (2017-08-28) Louis Bouland: Doesnt support any other printer or scanner not from google cloud.
- (2017-08-01) David Glover: After carefully selecting an all in one that promised to jump through all the chromebook hoops, I was a mite miffed when it turned out that my wifi printer Epson XP 345 had no wifi scanning capabilities what so ever and was ready to box up and return...... .....But found this wee app and after a 20 sec down load and 15 min hunt for the USB flex was scanning away happily. Merci Francois
- (2017-07-27) Oaklea Kearney: No way to find or select a printer/scanner to use. UI is trash.
- (2017-07-26) Tim Poisson: Does not recognize printer/scanner. Needs work.Using chromebook w/USB to Printer/scanner
- (2017-07-14) John Marcolina: App doesn't start for me.
