It has a manager page similar to the native bookmark manager and a navigation page similar to the native bookmark bar. And it is also a tab and session manager at the same time. What does a typical tab manager look like? They save tabs in one place, and then close tabs. These saved tabs can be divided into groups, which are called workspaces. You can reopen these tabs later, or open the entire group. They also provides simple data management functions, such as deleting, renaming, and moving between groups. What is the essence of this saved data? It's just a list of web addresses. In fact they are bookmarks. The so-called workspace is in fact a bookmark folder, and the so-called tab manager is a simplified bookmark manager. So, why can't you just use the bookmark manager to manage tabs? This can have a number of benefits: 1. More flexible data structure. Bookmarked folders can be nested, you may call it sub-workspace if you want. 2. More comprehensive data management functions. 3. More secure data storage. 4. Automatic data synchronization. Browsers usually come with a synchronization feature for bookmark data, which can even be used on mobile phones. 5. Cooperation between tabs and bookmarks. Of course, some of the details of tab management are unique, which requires the bookmark manager to add corresponding support. In fact, some users already use the native bookmark management system to manage tabs manually, and there are also tab management plugins that are dedicated to saving tabs as bookmarks. Abookmark goes one step further by abstracting bookmarks and tabs into nodes. Bookmarks are sleeping tabs, while tabs are active bookmarks. Tabs can also be manipulated through the tab nodes, and tab groups are mapped to folders. Using tab nodes on the side panel is similar to the vertical tab bar of Edge, but with the ability to communicate with bookmarks. Abookmark offers a high degree of freedom, which is a double-edged sword. In addition, Abookmark also offers some advanced features. New users should familiarize themselves with the basic logic before gradually exploring more powerful features. https://www.abookmark.org ## Privacy All your bookmarks are stored in your browser system. Abookmark does not transfer them to anywhere else.

  • (2024-10-06) Aarón: Extension is extremely powerful but the UI is extremely lacking.
  • (2024-08-27) Randy Romanow: This extension allows for bulk editing Bookmarks using powerful Find & Replace functionality. Case matching, whole word selection and REGEX are all supported. It is for this reason, and ONLY this reason, that I keep the extension installed. To my knowledge, this functionality is unique - not available in ANY other solution, and I have tried literally hundreds of Bookmark Managers and other tools. If someone knows of an alternative - please, do tell. I say that because... This extension has the very worst User Interface of any consumer facing product I have ever seen, and I spent 25 years managing, designing, testing and reviewing applications in a professional capacity. I even encountered a legacy system in place since the DOS years - poorly written in the first place, patched and extended time and again - that provided a friendlier experience. Also, as others have mentioned, documentation is nonexistent - this app is extremely powerful, but it's not for the technically challenged, nor the faint of heart. Nonetheless, there is that bulk editing thing... To help others hunting this functionality, I will present the required steps as concisely as I can: 1. Install the extension & pin it to the menu bar. 2. Right click the icon, and choose "Open Main App." 3. Open settings by clicking the standard "Gear" icon at the top right & selecting "Options..." 4. Switch to the "Lab*" tab at the top of the "Options" screen. 5. Activate the "Data text editor" option, then click the "Save" button in the lower right corner. 6. Click anywhere outside the "Options" screen to close it, then... 7. Click again, somewhere, anywhere, to close the pop-up still persisting from the click on the "Gear" icon. 8. You are now ready for bulk-edit - make sure you are in "Bookmark Mode" by selecting the first icon at the top left. 9. Choose the category to edit from the left hand panel - "Desktop," "Other," or "Mobile Bookmarks." 10. You should see a more or less standard view of your bookmarks in the right panel, with checkboxes for selecting. 11. Select the items to edit ("range" selection is available - click the 1st bookmark, hold "Shift" & select the last.) 12. RIGHT click on any SELECTED bookmark and a TOTALLY undecipherable popup will appear. 13. Click on the "DV" box toward the bottom of the ABSOLUTELY incoherent popup to switch to "Data View." 14. Select "Plain" from the tabs at the top - you should get a plain text editor containing your selected bookmark data. 15. Invoke "Find & Replace" - Control-F on Windows - this is the sole reason I keep this extension installed. 16. Of course, you can also manually edit anything you like while in the text editor. 17. After editing, scroll to the very bottom and click the "Save Data" button to... Save your changes. 18. Click the "Close" button to exit the text editor - mission accomplished. That's all there is to it. That's only ONE of the many, many functions packed into this extension - good luck deciphering the others.
  • (2024-06-06) Michael Naudé: I echo the sentiments of other users when I say that the functionality is impressive, but practically impossible to use. There HAS to be better documentation and user guidance. The greatest software in the world isn't worth anything if no one knows how to use it. Very cool extension, I hope you add better documentation!
  • (2024-04-07) Unknow0059: It's impressive, but it's the most complex GUI I have ever laid my eyes on, even as a power user. The most comparable thing is the program Blender - it took me good time to learn Blender, but it is widely documented, and has imagal, textual and videal demonstrations. I've also used the program AB Commander which is comparable to this in terms of icon & button design. The extension Bookmark Manager Plus is also comparable on those terms. But this is confusing. Horrifically so. I cannot tell which button alters my bookmarks, and which alters metadata about them, if this can even do the former. I checked the docs, they tell me everything, except how to use the damn thing. Consider rewriting, so it's not around abstract concepts, but around case uses. There is one video of you clicking through the program and showing various screens, explaining nothing. I can do that myself, no one else's time is needed. What's the first thing the user might want to do when he opens this? What operations are there? Why does a tag exist by default which contains nothing at all? When I click the extension button what am I creating? I don't want you to answer these. I want the user onboarding to be made to exist. The extension "Bookmarks Commander" for example has one, it has an explanatory usage video, it has instructions on basic operations, etc.
  • (2024-04-04) Alexander Rendar: I appreciate what you tried to achieve but I'm so confused by this extension. - How do I create a new folder? - How do I simply delete a bookmark? I can't figure it out! - No keyboard navigation (see Windows Explorer and other "organizers of things"). God gave us keyboards for a reason. - How do I cut & paste bookmarks? (Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V don't do anything) - Some icons are so cryptic and UI elements have abbreviated text like a puzzle. [MK], [DV], Normalize+. Wow. - Clicking a bookmark should open it in a new tab instead of replacing my work in the current tab - I was lucky to discover the "hidden" filter feature - it's just a thin line. My advice is to go for maximum usability, ease of use, and improved UX rather than "slim & compact UI"
  • (2024-03-27) Angelica Chao: Amazing functionality! Thank you for this wonderful tool! My bookmarks have been a mess for YEARS! <3 BTW, Is there a way to to change the columns that show? Ex: in the duplicated nodes view, switch the url columns to its folder location, etc.

  • (2023-07-12) Extra Google Account: This is a pretty powerful bookmarking tool and to make it work integrating with Chrome's featureless bookmarking is kinda astounding. Kudos to the devs! I am still learning this tool, but it is basically the only one that gives chrome a true and complete bookmarking tool. Little bit of a learning curve, but that is OK. And I'm pretty sure it is still in active development, so that's excellent. Try it out! To Devs: If I had some comments or questions, should they be posted to the Github page...like in issues...or is there a discussion board somewhere?
