Block distracting websites with ease using the Serene Chrome Extension.
When you click 'Go Serene' you will start a focus session - which can last from 15-60 minutes. Visiting a website on your block list during a focus session will replace the distracting website with a reminder of the goal you're working towards and a session countdown timer.
The Serene Chrome Extension replaces the new tab page with a distraction-free screen that reminds you of your goal and provides productivity insights.
Mac users can also connect the Serene Chrome extension to their Serene MacOS app to automatically:
• Shut down distracting apps on your computer when you enter a focus session
• Display your goal & focus session information when you open a new tab
• Log your distractions so that you can quantify and reduce them
• Turn on/off focus music when you enter a focus session
• Put your phone on silent when you enter a focus session

- (2021-07-27) Bryan Bontilao: It works on my end. When I start the session on my machine and try to open the blocked site, I could not proceed on the site. It only shows a page with a timer and the goal that I should be working. I noticed that the default social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) in the app are disabled, so I still need to toggle it or block it manually. Most users may probably not see this and may comment that the app/extension is not working.

- (2020-08-12) Alexandre: You need to show a message when you click the icon on the extension bar on the upper left that you NEED to open a new tab for the options to show. I thought this app was just not functioning and was about to uninstall it for 5 minutes straight because of this. Literally all the other extensions are showing something when you click their icon. This is weird.
- (2020-04-03) Marcos Piérola: Too basic. It changed my new tab page and didn't let me disable that option. I had to endure whatever wallpapers it threw my way. It only supported full website blocks and didn't have any option to set time limits for a site or to set up which days and hours within a day should be considered as time for being productive.
- (2019-09-10) Benjamin Hitchens: Serene is the smartest chrome extension I've added. No matter how hard I try and focus on a task, my mind would wonder to sites that would distract me. With Serene this is no longer a problem, my productivity levels have gone through the roof!

Hello-- I purchased Serene for Mac and I have the extension on Chrome. I have set a few blocked sites and even when I'm in "Go Serene" mode the extension doesn't seem to do anything. It only shows a Serene landing page when I open a new tab which is more annoying than helpful. Am I missing something? And when I click "Go Serene" it automatically opens my text messages on my mac which is strange because that's an app I have blocked. Is this what the program is supposed to be like? Per the description, "The Serene Chrome Extension replaces the new tab page with a distraction-free screen that reminds you of your goal and provides productivity insights." This would be useful, except it blocks access to frequently used links in Chrome, and is present even when I haven't "gone Serene," which feels a bit invasive and presumptuous. It would be nice if there were a way to toggle this feature on or off separately without disrupting Serene's ability to block sites while in Serene mode. - (2019-11-25, v:2.1.5) John Sirrine: extension not functioning
Thanks for the extension! Unfortunately the icon is grayed out and clicking on it doesn't do anything. What am I missing?
