  • (2023-10-18) CSB: This extension is predatory, do not install it. First, it does not tell that it exclusively works with Yahoo search. If you want Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or anything else, you're bum out of luck because once you install this addon your search bar is unchangeably set to Yahoo search through Search for a Cause. And yes, you heard me right - you cannot change it back! Not only have I made doubly sure the settings direct the search tab to google, but I have uninstalled and restarted both the browser and my computer... twice! I'm still stuck with garbage Yahoo search! But that's not the end of it, either!! Okay so maybe Yahoo isn't as good as Google, but it's still serviceable, right? Wrong. You are stuck with the default search settings. Want to search for a video? You will be unable to sort by length, date published, or anything like that. Want to search for an image? Not only do you not have reverse image search, you can't sort by size or anything else, either. I am currently HARDSTUCK with a neutered version of the worst search engine, and I have uninstalled this stupid addon and reset everything. This is plainly predatory, dishonest behavior from Gladly. I have been using Tab for a Cause for something like 4 years now, with like over 80,000 points donated before they changed the way it worked. After seeing the philosophy of the company behind this, I'm uninstalling. If you want to donate to charity, your time would literally be better-spent mechnical turking for an hour for sub-minimum-wage pay to just donate that to whatever charity you wanted. Do not give these people the time of day, they are crooks and scheisters who take most of the money generate through ads to pay themselves in the first place. Shame on them for preying on people who only want to help.
  • (2023-08-25) Jay Jones: Love the concept, but two things significantly impact its usefulness to me: the lack of dark mode, and inability to expand images. I really don't want to visit a website and scroll through if searching for an image every time I want to view one in better detail. I'll revisit this down the road to see if it's been developed further, but right now it's too raw to adopt for daily usage.
  • (2023-06-08) Eric Nohr: Combine this with Shop for A Cause and Tab for A Cause
  • (2023-05-18) halconillustrates: I had tab for a cause installed for a long time now and the only thing that's keeping me from having this one enabled is a dark mode. I love the idea but until we get a dark mode, I'll be on the sidelines for now. I don't mind Bing search but I think a lot of people already mentioned that there are other features that Google normally offers which lack here. My only actual dealbreaker currently is dark mode, hoping it will be implemented soon!
  • (2023-04-08) Gregory Cudmore: On my device it says that search for a cause is inactive, but I can't find a way to activate it. When I click "Activate Extension" it just brings me to the webstore, and there is nothing there. Is it because I am using a chromebook?
  • (2023-03-06) Rachel Stark: Seems to do what it claims to do. A HUGE tip to the devs though, since you are partnered with Yahoo/Bing you.need.to.specify.this in the description of the app. I am sure that it was a bit of an oversite BUT, not doing so lowers your trustworthiness and negatively effects your relationship with your users (as you can see from many comments that users are upset not having the option to use Google because Yahoo/Bing search results are of lower quality than Google). It is always best practice to be up front about such information to maintain high levels of customer/user trust.
  • (2023-03-01) Becky Alice Min: Great idea but I don't like the lack of customization options or the fact that it uses yahoo search engine, I had become so used to using the google search engine, I wish it let you choose. Uninstalling until more options are available.
  • (2023-01-30) Petter Henriksson: I like the idea behind this, but why can't I adjust the Yahoo Search options? It enforced a different language on me even though I want it set to English.
  • (2023-01-04) LoLo: I love the idea behind it, but I'm not loving the poor search results and the hideous UI. Also a dark theme is always essential for the eyes.
  • (2022-12-30) Chew Wei Quek: I really wonder why customization is not possible even though it is obviously Yahoo backed, "Safe Search" option cant be configured. The first page results sometimes dont even contain the famous repository/information page like Wikipedia, Microsoft help page etc. You CAN do that, but you need to display some alternatives that are equivalently accessible/credible. How do these help contribute to charity?
  • (2022-12-16) Matrix Remix: very great, love helping.. <33
  • (2022-11-25) Workbench: I would've rated it higher otherwise, but for some reason, my search result are always in Spanish. Other than that, it's a 5-star.
  • (2022-10-27) Allan Tan: If it is google search, i'll install this extension back.
  • (2022-10-23) maegan searcy: Hi, i got this on my chrome book but it is not working could someone help me lease i really want to help with animals. Thank you
  • (2022-10-12) Ari: i like the idea and as someone who uses google chrome for everything, i wouldn't even be upset about yahoo/bing being used if the search engine had a dark mode.
  • (2022-10-07) Kaycee Snow: Really really needs a dark mode. Please
  • (2022-10-03) Noah P Vargas O: Uninstalled. Tab icon is Yahoo and it says "Powered by Bing" in the footer... Do I need to say more?
  • (2022-09-24) Виктор Новиков (Витя): me gusta mucho, es simple de usar y una de las mejores maneras de dirigir el dinero de las publicidades, me da mucha felicidad
  • (2022-09-21) -Ktsp-: WHY can't I use Google. Yahoo won't work with me, and I can't find the Search for a Cause homepage. There may not be one. Worst extension ever.
  • (2022-09-21) Nicole 'River' Rivera: Don't give up on it if it looks like it's not working. It takes a bit for it to work, but it'll apply automatically after a few minutes/searches. Only issue: it's Yahoo as a default... how do I change this?? I want Google, please.
  • (2022-09-20) Benjamin Rushton: One question: How do I set it to Google?
  • (2022-09-14) Kevin Jennison: A spectacularly easy way to do good! Search for a Cause posts all its financials online so you know the money raised is going to excellent causes.
  • (2022-09-14) Tyler Malek: It didn't work for me. Waste of time. Edit: When I removed extension it worked. It's yahoo, though, so got rid of it.
  • (2022-03-27) Aux: I Like It But I Want It Not To Set My Search Engine To Google Because I Like Using Bing
  • (2021-12-05) Aiden Lui: It did not show and it just brought me to google
  • (2021-09-02) DivineFrost: Sticking with tabs for a cause cuz this is honestly trash
  • (2021-08-15) Nobody: This isn't a search engine. It's just a link to google search.
  • (2021-08-07) Paradox: it doesnt work for me, litteraly, it doesnt work.
  • (2021-06-17) Joshua Smith: I agree with everyone,it is a good idea and concept but does need improvements I hope they can improve this app because if they do I would use it.
  • (2021-05-31) moetoslow: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW0AQ4Wjrhiy19ViQaoUp7A/featured
  • (2021-05-12) zhanchenjia qiu: me siento como si estuviera dando muchísimo dinero, pero en realidad es totalmente gratis
  • (2021-03-14) Obviously, I hate that this uses Bing, but I understand that Google won't work here. Maybe another search engine could be supported, like DuckDuckGo or Ecosia.
  • (2021-03-03) Jheiden Maveric G. Damasco: Noice?
  • (2021-01-04) Plutopow: The searching is fine but its missing googles features like dice and clac. Also the ads blend in to well with the searches making it hard to find the thing I'm looking for.
  • (2020-12-14) Michael Stemerman: TL;DR: Bing image, video, shopping, etc. are underrated, and when I click "Images" on a Bing based platform, it would be nice to get Bing image. video, shopping, etc. results. Also, definitions, tools, and Random Number Generation features would be welcome. I really like the idea, and I know the Bing problem has been repeated a million times, but I see a bigger problem. If you want to do Bing, go all out. It has MANY problems, but almost all of the advantages Bing has are washed out by this. Advanced, image and video search, news(ish), shopping and many more are not included. Also when I click on images, videos, shopping, etc. it brings me back to Google. Bing shopping, images, video, and news are underrated, and its only problem (search) is more Google just being good rather than Bing being bad. I have a ton of hope for it, and I'm starting to recommend it. P.S. If there was a way to add calculator, definitions, color picker, metronome, and random number generator features (roll a die, spinner, flip a coin, and random number generator) along with adding Bing video, shopping, images etc. then I would say its better than pure chrome. Plus charity!
  • (2020-12-02) Zephan Wu: nice making me feel that i am helping charity and i bookmark all my favourite websites. just in case i cant find in search
  • (2020-11-25) Zack Prasad: To the people who don't like it, just search what you want, click "Images" and then once you are redirected to google click "All". Solved Otherwise, I would highly recommend this search engine, as I really like Tab For A Cause I got recommended to this extension by HAI (Half as Interesting)/Wendover Productions
  • (2020-10-20) Sumedh Shah: The way how Tab for a Cause and Search for a Cause work is fantastic, as I myself usually forget about charity and have no time to devote to it. The site always reminds me to donate a few hearts but I would like to have a few changes: 1. Catch Up with the Speed. The site should load a bit faster. 2. Don't be so tacky. Try to design the site beautifully. 3. Make a heart worth more. 1/10 of a cent is too low to catch up with the need all around the world.
  • (2020-10-05) thecarefulcactus: it is great because it is for charity, but tab for a cause doesn't effect search results. if they used google search results and had a few ads up top i would use it. make it look more like google as well
  • (2020-09-19) Mustafa Özhan: I really want to use search for a cause with tab for a cause, but I simply can not the reason is the search engine. I do not blame search for a cause for this but you guys need to find a way to work with Google. You do great job with wrong partner.
  • (2020-09-07) Linda Cook: Good Concept. Bad Design. Cons. The Theme Is Not Good. It takes pretty long to get rid of it. They Pretend They Care About feedback but we all now that is going to where the proof of epstein committing suicide, no where. Pros. It Donates to charity which is always honorable
  • (2020-08-14) Blue Bulbous: I love it, period.
  • (2020-07-15) Dizzytig88: Its very good, But it defiantly lacks what i thing is an essential to a browser.
  • (2020-07-07) Maya M.: This search engine sucks ngl, but since it's a charity thing, i'll give it 4 stars. The engine is ugly, yeah that's it. Maybe in the future it'll look better. But for rn imma stick to my web page.
  • (2020-06-27) Regaan :D: i just want a way to donate to charity without money so i love this idea
  • (2020-03-20) Harry Michelson: Used to be better than it is now. I've decided to remove the extension because while I like supporting Tab for a Cause through Search for a Cause, the search engine is simply bad. After scrolling through a page of results, the results repeat and only change in order, not the next page of sites. Perhaps if the search results were based off Google, this would work much better.
The concept of this extension is very good, our research will give hearts for the associations that are transformed into money. The research results are also good. But it would need a lot of improvement like when we go on the images it brings us back to Google, have your own results... Otherwise it's good that by combining Search for a Cause and Tab for a Cause we gain a lot of hearts.
  • (2020-01-14) ahmed abdulaahiii: are u kidin me wat u tink i giv moni to charity wen i no food BIG FAT ONE giv me and my sun moni
  • (2019-12-20) Brendan Tyne: It's a nice idea. I'm deciding between this and Ekoru.org which cleans oceans with every search and they are hydro-powered. Ocean plastics are becoming ridiculous
  • (2019-12-02) Mauricio alvarez: I love search for a cause. A plus is the fact that it doesn't collect as much information as most free sites like google. I strongly believe you should advertise the beta of search for a cause on tabs for a cause so that more people are informed of this fantastic extension. It's fast and works well, with seemingly no bugs or issues that need to be attended to. Fabulous work. Edit: I believe that a dark mode should be added, or add a customization for searching the web like the widgets and background for Tab for a Cause. Something extra to appeal to others (mainly because I like having a dark theme).

  • (2023-08-16, v:0.8) David Briesacher: Why am I forced to use yahoo?
I added search for a cause yesterday and I regret it horribly. It forced me to use yahoo as my search engine, and yahoo is terrible. I removed search for a cause as an extension, and deleted yahoo as a search engine in my Chrome settings. My Chrome settings have google as the default engine when I open a new tab. Yet, even with search for a cause deleted, and all my settings how I want them, yahoo is still acting as the default search engine. Yahoo is useless. What a mistake by me. I'm deleting tab for a cause now too because I don't trust your organization at all.
  • (2023-01-30, v:0.8) Hannah Coughlin: search engine not working
I have downloaded this chrome extension months ago, used it 26 times successfully. I fully understand how to use it. The website is malfunctioning, the search engine isn't displaying on the page. Instead I'm prompted to download the extension, which is redundant.
  • (2023-01-23, v:0.8) BWellXoxo: does not work.
I use search for a cause occasionally, because although I have downloaded it onto my computer & added it to google chrome, when I click on the lil green (elephant?) icon, nothing happens. I had to add it onto my main screen & click it there. Less convenient & not as handy as it could/should be.
  • (2022-11-12, v:0.8) Mikaeli Stanton: Is there a dark mode?
I have a condition where I need to use dark mode on as many things as I can to avoid migraines - is there a dark mode with this?
  • (2022-11-01, v:0.8) Francesca Leoni: Search engine in Spanish
The search engine (yahoo) is in Spanish and it's driving me insane, how do I change it to English?
  • (2022-09-21, v:0.8) Nicole 'River' Rivera: How to make search engine GOOGLE and not yahoo?
I see the message regarding this ("Only updates search preferences for the new tab page, not your browser.") if I go to select a search engine for my tab page, but how do I switch my search engine on the actual search bar of my browser?? I'm using Google Chrome, so I'd like to have Search for a Cause use Google's search engine as well... Right now it's using Yahoo. Please advise!
  • (2022-03-07, v:0.7) Really Crappy: The single most annoying corporatese response I've ever heard
Bro, we just want to know why we're not getting any hearts. We know that Search for a Cause switched to using Google, and that's great! I love Google! It's a great search engine! But why do we not get any hearts when we try searching with Search for a Cause through Google? Every time one of us asks, we just get exactly the same canned cookie-cutter copy-pasted obvious customer service response: "Hello ****, our goal at Search for a Cause is to provide you with a great search experience, all while raising money for nonprofits. From time to time, especially while Search for a Cause is in beta, we might switch search providers to improve the search results or increase money raised. If you are experiencing a different problem, please contact us at [email protected] with as much information as possible to help you. Thanks for being part of the Search for a Cause beta journey!" Bro just tell us how to get our hearts

  • (2021-09-19, v:0.7) Andrea Zelli: Search For A Cause Not Working
Search for a cause has not been working for a while now. I'm not exactly sure when the problem started, but it started some time this year. Every time I search something, it takes me to Google and I don't earn any hearts.
  • (2021-08-18, v:0.7) Meghan Swindle: Tab For a Cause no longer working
Hello! I've used Tab For A Cause for years! I like collecting the tabs into the thousands then donating them all at once. Today I restarted my laptop and opened Chrome and saw that I had been logged out of my account. I tried logging back in with every email I know I have but I still can't seem to get in. I'm pretty disappointed considering how many tabs I had saved up and how long i've had this particular account. I think the issue may be my google account. I've always used the same google account but now when I log into it, it logged me to an account that already exists but isn't the one i've been using for the past few years. Still my account, just not one that I want. I think the issue may be that my google account email is linked to 2 separate Tab accounts but its logging me into the wrong one. I was wondering if there's anything that can be done about this? I know its silly but I tend to get attached to digital accounts, so I'm pretty disappointed to see this one lost. Thanks a bunch, Meghan S.
  • (2021-07-05, v:0.7) Ethan Tribe: Does not work today
The search engine seems to not be working. Even when I go to search.gladly.io and search it returns a google search. First problem I've ever had though.
  • (2021-04-29, v:0.7) Daniel Mather: a donation that we should do for spotlight sometime this summer
we should do a spotlight donation thing for Ocean conservancy
  • (2021-01-17, v:0.7) Sean Hollander: How it works
I know that it's only been an app for a few days, but there are some glaring issues. 1. It is powered by Bing, A.K.A. the Worst Search Engine Ever. 2. Once you search something, then click on, say, Images, it switches back to normal Google. 3. The way you get to Search for a Cause is very inconvenient. 4. It is powered by Bing, A.K.A. the Worst Search Engine Ever.
  • (2020-12-14, v:0.7) Michael Stemerman: Including the bad parts of Bing (Search) while not including the stuff that Bing does well. (Image, Video, Shopping, Etc.)
• (2020-10-15, v:0.7) T. G.: use google instead of bing
As lots of other people have said, you should use Google instead of Bing or at least have more options, then more people would use it. The less of a change to people's habits you make it the more people will use it.
  • (2020-09-13, v:0.7) Toby Keane: Love the idea but hate bing...
Love the idea but hate bing. The only reason I wont be using this. If you could have a skin that went over whatever default current search provider I am using in chrome (currently duck duck go) then I would be interested. Thanks
  • (2020-08-01, v:0.7) Seth Schreiber: Remove sign in for Incognito

  • (2020-07-11, v:0.7) Martin Celander: no google, no microsoft
I like that you avoid google but I would be more interested in trying it if it wasn't powered by microsoft
  • (2019-11-06, v:0.6) Kumar Chandresh: Powered by Bing?
I am on board with raising money for charity while searching the web. But "powered by Bing" defeats the purpose of searching in the first place. Who uses Bing when you got Google?
  • (2019-09-25, v:0.6) Matt Heatley: AdBlock
When i use the search it says Turn off Adblock. Only problem is the stop sign is already green on the search results page. Even when i turn adblocker off it says to turn off adblock. Not sure what the issue is here.
  • (2019-09-14, v:0.6) Daniel Webster: Incognito Requires Sign-in
This is only a recent problem. If you try to make a search when in incognito, it redirects you to sign in, which defeats the purpose of being incognito!
  • (2019-08-23, v:0.4) Todor Stoynov: Powered by bing
I am very on board with this (as evident by the fact that I am already using Tab for a Cause), but the "Powered by Bing" part really is a deal breaker for me. If you can make it with the google search engine that would be great.
