- (2021-01-20) Crimson Darknet: Never works. I've wasted so much time trying to get this horrible software working because IT insists on using it. I don't even bother anymore – I just delete the obvious test emails I get from IT. An app like this would take me 20 minutes to write. The fact that it performs so poorly gives me serious doubts regarding security. In order to use, you must grant the extension FULL ACCESS to all emails. How am I supposed to believe that this data is secure, when the devs can't even get the base functionality working consistently? Unfortunately, I've got no choice. IT manages my browser extensions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- (2019-07-01) Michael Isaacs: I like the idea, but it is horribly implemented. I can't get it to work. I've had experiences ranging from what Larry has described, but I have also had it tell me that I don't have an email selected to report, when I clearly have one selected and am reading the email in question in mail.google.com. I have also been caught in a loop where it only shows a context menu, and no reporting options like it is supposed to, which then sends me to the Infosec website which tells me about their products, but doesn't help me report the email using their PhishNotify plugin ether. I end up spending time to try to get it to work, and then reverting to old school techniques of simply sending to our company security person for review. I'm sure that doesn't help his workload either. What a painful tool to attempt to use. After many months, I have only ever been able to successfully report a single email using this tool. I would not recommend this product.
