Description from extension meta

Leave annotations on tabs you want to get back to later

Image from store AnnoTabe
Description from store Sometimes one ends up with a lot of tabs, each of which has some unfinished task associated with it -- which is why the tab hasn't been closed. This extension lets one annotate tabs with extra information. This information can be associated with the particular tab (by unticking the "persist" option), or just the page URL. This is useful both for remembering why you had a tab open, and for recovering from crashes. The extension will have a yellow icon on tabs with annotations. One can also view a list of all the annotations, and go to the relevant tab directly from there. See http://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/a/1913/19 for more information. Special thanks to @TildalWave for the icon!

  • (2014-09-02) James Mortensen: Awesome extension! It helps me keep track of all of my Workplace Stack Exchange stuff in the chat room I hang out in on that site. I can keep track of other stuff in other parts of the network. This extension makes it easier to stay organized by keeping relevant information where it belongs instead of in one big glob. Nice work!
  • (2014-07-01) Shawn Phillips: Just what I needed thanks. :) Just something else but could you make sure that when I add a note on a tab and I got to "show annotations" that they are listed in order.
  • (2014-04-08) Tim Post: This extension makes keeping track of *why* you have, or had certain tabs open a breeze. Since the annotations persist and you can see them all on one page, browser crashes during research are far less devastating. Such a simple idea, but really helps in the organization / follow-up process of my workflow.

  • (2017-05-11, v:1.3.4) modiX: website wide annotation
How about an option to stick the note to the entire host website, not the specific website. For instance, when I'm at example.org/home and note something, I can read it up on example.org/contact, too.
  • (2015-06-13, v:1.3.4) Thomas de Heus: Auto save feature
Often I'll be writing a quick annotation and I'll accidentally click somewhere on the webpage, closing the extension popout and losing my note. It'd be great if the extension auto saved, so I don't have to click 'update' each time
