Description from store Advantages of the player: • Less stops during playback: if necessary, the player settings can be tuned to your Internet connection. • Instant replay of the last minutes of the live broadcast, optionally with increased/reduced speed or frame-by-frame. • Hides Twitch ads. Ads that streamer embeds directly into the stream will be shown. • “Audio only” mode. Ideal for music listening. • The extension automatically opens chests with bonus points in chat. • You can set the size and location of the chat, even while in full-screen mode. • In chat (for example, attached to the bottom or top side of the window) there is room for much more messages and emotes. • You can completely disable the chat: it will not consume computer resources, and you will not be in the chatters list. • Allows you to select the device for audio output (if more than one device is available): speakers, headphones, TV, etc. • Changes volume by mouse wheel. • You can colorize the player interface to your liking. • Takes up less RAM. • Rapid start-up of the player. This is especially noticeable on slower computers. • Allows you to disable stretching the small video to the player size. • Allows you to continue viewing the broadcast in another player, for example Media Player Classic, VLC Media Player, or MX Player. • Large number of useful (and not so) settings. • Supports Chrome 49, Windows XP and OS X 10.6. The extension during installation requires the following permissions: • Read and change your data on a number of websites where Twitch stores its video. The list of websites may expand over time. • Manage your apps, extensions, and themes. Actually the extension just reads the list of installed extensions. This is necessary in order to load into the chat only those extensions that you have installed yourself in your browser. Only BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ browser extensions can work in chat. Also read the Privacy Policy (link on this page) for further details. The player can playback only live broadcasts and does not affect playback of videos. I do not recommend using the extension without a mouse, because touch screen support is incomplete. The extension does not work in some browsers, such as Chromium, which does not support H.264 and AAC. If you have problems with the extension, first read the help. To do this, in the player right click the view area, then in the menu click “Help”. If you still have questions, then in the same menu click "Send Feedback". If you cannot start the player, send an e-mail to the extension developer. The e-mail address is located somewhere on this page. This extension is not an official Twitch application. The extension was created by independent developer, who is not affiliated with Twitch Interactive, Inc company in any way. The extension inserts part of the Twitch.tv website — chat — into extension player. The extension is also available for Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox browsers.

(2023-11-01) Steve Tysl: So for those of you complaining about the buffering their is a reason its just a placeholder really if you watch on a new window without this extension turned on and one with you'll see the buffer on this addon yes but if you're watching the same stream with the window without its the add playing and tha addon stops the buffering as soon as the ads stop so it's not really blocking the ads its just stickling a buffering ad logo emplace of another ad... Not really blocking ads if you ask me....

( although channel points gained from raids / predictions / and chat bot rewards are still obtainable. ). - bug preventing drops from working / appearing. ( watchtime within the extension player no longer counts toward their completion. ) - bug preventing channel watch streaks from working / getting claimed. - bug causing stream delay to keep bouncing / spiking between low and high amounts. ( anywhere from around 3 seconds to upwards of 13 seconds. ). - bug causing stream bit rate to decrease at random. - even at low stream delay. - bug / broken feature causing the polling interval to go above 4 seconds, rendering it near impossible to get even remotely low stream delay. ( even if the buffer size is set to 1.5 seconds, the stream delay is still forced larger than 7 seconds at lowest. ). - even the workaround stream delay fix i mentioned in the replies can't counter this. - bug causing stream delay to average 3.8 seconds to 6 seconds despite having the buffer size set to 1.5 seconds. ( for now it can be fixed by refreshing the tab until it loads the chat, luckily. ). the bug occurs either on every 2nd refresh, or for upwards of 6 refreshes in an row. - bug with using the extension after disabling an adblocker. ( i turned off ublock origin to see if it would restore the bttv emote panel icon ( bug fixed as of 15 / 08 / 2023 ), however upon refreshing the tab it stopped the extension from working altogether. ). - turning ublock origin back on and going back via browser history has seemed to restore the extension player tab, however it is still concerning that it just stopped working like that. - bug rendering most of the play / pause button to be unclickable. ( can still be clicked on from the upper right corner of the button, but the rest cannot be clicked on. ). this bug seems to be fixed after the latest google chrome update ( 16 / 08 / 23 - DD / MM / YY ), however as i still don't know the initial cause of the bug, i'll keep it listed just in case it were to ever return. - rare bug causing an red error screen, the same one that occured back when i set the browser cache size to its maximum, except this time it happened all on its own. ( though i couldn't send the error log to the dev since that function is still broken. ). refreshing fixed it though, but still concerning it happened, probably due to twitch using more cpu and RAM than it used to, since as of recent i've had to install an automatic RAM cleaner to run in the background just to have the same amount of streams going as i used to. ( without the automatic RAM cleaner, every stream tab ends up showing the purple error screen upon clicking on it. ). there are potentially more things needing to be fixed, but other than these, the extension works perfectly fine. - although still missing a few features / functions ( VOD support / fully functional raid system " currently only the chat swaps over " / whisper function / influenceable video overlay " basically allowing other extensions to apply filters and effects over the video to make it look better " for example the " Video Image Control ( new gamma ) " browser extension / and support for stream addons " or extensions as the twitch page calls them, they're the things that allow for greater interactivity with the stream ( like the crowd control and the cult of the lamb character creator ). an " auto-optimise " option would also be nice, since having to manually refresh the tab and player a few hundred times to get the stream delay down is rather tedious. - still better than having to deal with the base twitch site though. - please, if any more bugs and broken features occur, list them below so the dev can fix them.

Je lui met 5 étoiles malgré quelques beugues que j'ai relevé : - Je ne gagne plus de points de chaînes quand je regarde un live lorsque j'utilise l'extension. - Le bouton de l'interface pour créer un clip ne fonctionne pas. - L'option pour suivre et arrêter de suivre dans le panel d'information de la chaîne ne fonctionne pas. (2023-08-03) Chad Hermann: This does not work well at all. It is constantly pausing and a little icon on top left says "hiding ads" there is no stream that plays ads every 15 seconds. I want to give this a good rating but it just does not work properly. I would rather sit through ads then have to refresh my browser every 15 seconds because this player pauses all the time.

(2023-06-01) Alec Howard: Hey yall, just wanted to let everyone here know that I've found a roundabout way to fix the "Broadcast has ended" issue, at least for the time being. The root cause of this problem is due to Twitch blocking the use of the hard-coded "Client-Id" value that this (and other tools) uses. Switching it to the Client-ID that the Nintendo Switch uses (ue6666qo983tsx6so1t0vnawi233wa) solves the issue. Since this extension is no longer updated, I'm not sure what the best way to propagate this solution is, but you can implement it on your own like I did by following these steps: 1. Download a .zip of this extension (Alternate Player for Twitch) by pasting the URL into this website: https://robwu.nl/crxviewer/ and clicking "Download" on the top right. 2. Extract the zipped folder to a directory of your choosing. 3. Download a text editor if you don't already have one. You could in theory use something basic like Notepad, but I'd recommend using Sublime Text for this specific task. 4. Within the "\bhplkbgoehhhddaoolmakpocnenplmhf" folder, open the "player.js" file (using the aforementioned text editor) and edit the Client-Id value from "kimne78kx3ncx6brgo4mv6wki5h1ko" to "ue6666qo983tsx6so1t0vnawi233wa" (this is on line 5416; the word "Client_Id" is in Russian in this file). 4. Within the "\bhplkbgoehhhddaoolmakpocnenplmhf" folder, open the "content.js" file (using the aforementioned text editor) and edit the Client-Id value from "kimne78kx3ncx6brgo4mv6wki5h1ko" to "ue6666qo983tsx6so1t0vnawi233wa" (this is on line 144). 5. Make sure to save your changes! 6. Go to your Chrome's extension page (should be chrome://extensions/?id=bjcdadpfibefgiidpebdhnkbfklapnoj), make sure Developer Mode is turned on in the top right, and click on the "Load Unpacked" button in the top left. 7. Navigate to the directory that you extracted the zipped file to in step 2 and click "Select Folder". 8. Reload any of your Twitch streams and they should properly load now! NOTE: This solution is most likely temporary; all it takes is for Twitch to ban this Client-Id again for the extension to break. With that said, this is the Client-Id that the Switch uses, so they probably won't ban it for a while...I hope. Credit goes to the people over at https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/issues/5370 for doing all of the heavy lifting - they're all much smarter than me! Highly recommend tracking the conversation over there to stay up-to-date with their findings.

Seems like all the sites now like Reddit, Twitch, etc are all just cracking down on their api or whatever to stop 3rd party extensions that makes their sites at more user friendly rather than flooded with ads. Hope the devs here can find a new work around because twich ads are so obnoxious.
