Image from store Vocab Tracker
Description from store VocabTracker is a vocabulary tracking tool which can let you track your vocabulary on any page so that you can use any website as a language learning resource. It supports the following features: - Support English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Arabic, Latin, Polish and more languages are being added now. - Analyze words on any web page and highlight the words with different colors based on your familiarity with the words. - Support adding user's own dictionaries to the tool, for example: NCIKU, Glosbe, merriam-webster and so on. - Support flash card and SRS system to help you memorize your vocabulary. - Support two modes -- "Lemma" and "Variant": in "Lemma" mode, the tool can find the lemma for word variants such as "were", "was", "is", "are", "am" and treat those variants as the same word ("be"). - Support adding phrases to your vocabulary. - Support segmenting Chinese (both Mandarin and Traditional Chinese) and Japanese with a very high accuracy. - Support exporting vocabulary to CSV file so that you can add your vocabulary to Anki or other tools. Note: This extension doesn't save your vocabulary data locally -- it saves them on a remote server. So in order to use this tool, you will need to register a user for this extension first.

  • (2023-07-22) Picatule: It didn't work at all! When clicking this extension's icon, it hadn't any responses. OS: Windows 11 Browser: Microsoft Edge Version 115.0.1901.183 (Official build) (64-bit)
  • (2022-12-30) 田森暗卯主: Does what LingQ has been unable to do for years and does it for free
  • (2022-09-23) Oone: I'm learning japanese and french with this extension and it is INCREDIBLE. It definitely does its job at being a free alternative for the LingQ and Readlang methods, and because of that it deserves a 5 star rating, but it does have some flaws. -First of all, this extension doesn't work well in chromium-based browsers. I use Brave (for browsing), Vivaldi (for productivity), Edge (to use the "install this website as a app" function) and in none of those browsers the "automatically speak" function worked, even when i disabled protections, so if you wanna hear the words you're reading you gonna have to use Chrome, i'm using it specifically just to use this extension. -The Library tab in the site [vocabtracker.com] isn't organized as it could be, i have to manually search for the texts i've imported in order to read them again, this can be easily fixed with just adding a "Your imported texts" tab; Also, there is no way to rate a text to make it appear in the front page or a comment section to give praises. The website seems to be exactly the same as it was in the 2020 video showing the extension. -There is translation to polish, dutch, korean, russian, ukrainian and even latin, but NO portuguese? What? Brazilian Portuguese is a mother language of literally half of South America's population. I definitely understand that it takes time to add a new language, but why the 8th most spoken language in the world has to be in such a low priority place in the queue? -Not actually a flaw, just a potentially missing feature: This extension would be perfect with a bult-in Anki-like flashcard function like Readlang has, it does have the "Review now" option in the vocabulary tab, which is really great, but i miss the spaced repetition technique, and it would fit perfectly if mixed with the Status 1-5 progression. This app is 100% free and without ads, so i kinda feel bad about demanding updates. I don't know if the creator actually read these reviews nowadays, but just give us a way to fund it man, there are ways to do it without being intrusive, like with a "support us" tab to raise money (like wikipedia does) or non-intrusive ads in the site. Could be really great to have more frequent updates in the website, fixes for chromium browsers and a mobile version app for android and IOS, this thing could really blow up in popularity with proper funding and marketing in Youtube. Thanks for making this extension.
  • (2022-09-09) Passion Paterson: In progress, Free, enjoyable, effective, ...
  • (2022-08-26) Michel Laevens: Very good app. Please, show the product is properly supported. Ask money ? Eventually, I selected another product. It's not better. But I felt the app would be there when needed. This was important because I will invest a lot of time. I can live with downtimes but not with not with the product going extinct.
  • (2022-04-16) Tibor Horváth: It would be perfect IF instead of choosing how many words on page in 'Studying' you could choose to be shown a sentence at a time. It being seperated by a period. PLEASE consider adding this
  • (2021-11-24) Owen Adams: One of my favourite tools, I recently got into learning languages with input based methods and I've found this plugin absolutely invaluable.
  • (2021-10-31) Clus Agus: Perfect, I wish LingQ would make a similar extension, might start paying them again
  • (2021-10-13) Eden Shokrgozar: If it doesn't do anything in your chrome, just turn on your cookies for that website (little eye in the right side of the browser line) click on that and allow cookies. Amazing extension. thank you.
  • (2021-09-23) Victor Evangelista: I want to export my list to anki!
  • (2021-08-18) Thomas Mineo: Great extension, like LingQ but free.
  • (2021-04-30) Dron N: Very nice extension but I wish it to have some additional features: - Allow marking words as ignored. I don't want to add personal names as mastered. I want to see in mastered only words I actually learned. - Add ability to edit word from the vocabulary. I only can do it if I click the word in the text but why it is not possible in my vocabulary? - Fix export. It breaks most translations to multiple lines. Import should work with exported CSVs. Why do we need to export translations of "red" words. If I already know them why do I need it? Maybe you should add status ''already known' word and not add translations to these words to the vocabulary and export. - Add stats to vocabulary (it is shown when I start exporting but why not to show it always?). - Maybe add examples to words. - Selection of words for learning could be automatic. - BUG: when learning word is inside learning phrase it is not hidden in studying mode.
  • (2021-03-23) Awetewtewtew Awetwetw: i have a suggestion. can you please add an option to customize the pop-up like zhongzhong where you can move it. also i would love a shortcut to close the pop-up window since my only option is to left click on a blank space to make it go away
  • (2021-03-05) Yaakov Davis: An awesome tool. Thanks! I have an improvement request: When clicking a word, sometimes the popup is displayed bellow the word (rather than above it). In such cases, the underline is hidden by the popup, making it hard to track the "mastery state" (0-5) of the word. Also, when adjacent words have different states, it's impossible to distinguish the state of each, because all of the underlines are hidden. My suggestion: just place the popup a few pixels lower.
  • (2021-03-02) kingtheon lee: Amazing! Love it!!!
  • (2021-03-01) Youtube Account: It's amazing! :D It works really well.... Please add more languages pleasee! (Portuguese jejeje)
  • (2021-02-23) K LanguageLearning: This extension is amazing. I’ll make this a thorough review because this is the best tool I've found for making reading immersion possible at an intermediate level. There are a few bugs and rough edges, but for a free tool that does so much, I can work around them considering all the benefits. I honestly feel like Vocab Tracker could allow me to break out of the intermediate level in Russian, and that's pretty exciting. The ability to use this extension on any website allows you to instantly read the kind of content you find most interesting. That's great for motivation, and it allows you to learn the vocabulary that's most relevant to your interests. I wasn't sure I was ready for certain kinds of native content, but the automatic translations get me through any difficulties. And don’t worry about the colors from the word tracking feeling distracting, that's rarely the case as you build up your vocabulary and the colors fade. The word tracking greatly increases the learning potential from reading as it helps you recognize more words, building up your comprehension. It makes what would otherwise be difficult feel very achievable. What sets Vocab Tracker apart from similar tools is its ability to connect various forms of a word to the word’s dictionary form (its “lemma”) and then track them as a single word. That's what brought me to it. Without it, having to constantly mark numerous forms of the same word is annoying for inflection-heavy languages. Tracking all forms of a word also helps when you come across a form that might not be immediately recognizable, but is already being tracked after previously encountering a different form. Knowing that it’s a word you’ve already studied provides a little hint and extra motivation in decoding it, so you don’t automatically assume you don’t know it. There are some small issues with the extension that could use some attention, but they're not deal-breakers. I will email the developer with additional details and examples, but here are the main points: -- While the lemma mode usually works well, it sometimes makes mistakes (at least in Russian) in identifying the correct lemma for a variant form of a word. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize a lemma for an inflected form and treats it as its own lemma (like with "демократическая"). Worse is when it sometimes picks the wrong lemma and connects the word to an entirely unrelated word (like with "растёт"). These issues only happen 5% of the time, so it's not too bad, but it adds up over time. o A solution might be to allow users to manually change a word’s assigned lemma when needed. -- The color coded level system for vocabulary works pretty well, but the blue color used for levels 2 and 3 are too similar and difficult to differentiate on a dim screen. o Could the colors be adjusted to make them more distinct? Like 0=red, then orange/brown, purple, blue, light green. Even better would be an option to set custom colors and opacity for each level. -- With the review (word quiz) feature, if you answer the multiple choice question correctly, the system automatically upgrades the word’s status to the next level, even though that might not reflect your real progress with the word. o This automatic status change should be optional, so that after the review you don’t have to go track down those specific words to change their status back. And to better test our reading ability, could we perhaps get another review method where we’re tested on the meaning of the word itself, with its context sentence available as a hint? It would also be helpful if we had start/stop buttons for text reading in the translation window, and if we could edit word definitions and also see context sentences on the Vocabulary page. Hopefully some of that can be addressed. But either way, this extension is very useful, and it has the potential to become perfect.
  • (2021-01-24) Risitha Wakishta Arachchi: Really useful extension. I recommend checking out the website too, I only wish I could import pdfs/epub files and also a mobile version. Good luck in future endeavours to the dev!!! P.S is there a way to check how much data I use specifically for this extension/site(mainly audio I guess, I only have 15gb a month for everything)
  • (2020-12-20) Stewart L: No Portuguese (Brazil PT) supported.
  • (2020-11-30) Alfredo CS: Great work with this extension mate. I've been using it frequently. Right now the server is down. the website doesn't upload. Keep it up !
  • (2020-10-29) Selin Genc: I was wondering if there is any function to say, if you are learning French, when you click on a french word you are learning you get the french synonyms instead of the english translation?
  • (2020-10-22) Sans: This is an amazing alternative to LingQ for people who want all the amazing functionality with none of the cost. Thanks for this amazing extension. Language learning just got that much easier.
  • (2020-09-19) Antonio David Bastida Zamora: I think it is good but it needs some futures to be useful for me. 1. To be able to see statistics of the number of words I learn each day and the total one as lingq has. 2. To be able to select a text without import it directly from Google and to mark with 5 starts the words that I dont click as Lingq do 3. This is not something important but sometimes it lag a bit, it would be awesome to be able to fix it I think the first to points are not hard to be developed and it would turn the app to a high level.
  • (2020-09-09) Max M: очень удобно чекать незнакомые слова в статьях
  • (2020-07-20) K leo: Doesn't seem to do anything for me. On Brave browser.
  • (2020-06-29) Sisam Khanal: It really is awesome. I really like this style of learning but LingQ only had it or so I thought. This is free, and provides many useful resources at your finger tips. Im just on A1 on my German and its really helping me out. I already feel like a high tier human being using this extension. but im unable to add a dictory .
  • (2020-04-15) Antho E: Bonne extension, qui associe readlang et LWT avec traductions automatiques ce qui est un gain de temps pour beaucoup de mots. Cependant si on pouvait enregistrer plusieurs mots en même temps comme "sim embargo" en espagnol j'aurais mis 5 étoiles. Good app but like the other commentary I'd like to save sentences and several words at the same time.
  • (2020-04-03) Ahmad Juhari: very2 good
  • (2019-12-03) Ryan Kemp: I have only started using this app but have already found it a wonderfully quick and accessible alternative to similar apps. I am really enjoying it so far and would very much like to see a mobile/tablet app version. Very best of luck and many thanks to the developers for creating such a wonderful tool - I really appreciate the hard work that went into this and hope it goes from strength to strength!
  • (2019-11-24) No U: I really like this app and the website that goes with it. They are very useful, thanks developer! I am using it for Japanese and I would like to give some feedback/request on the program. Is there a way to make the colored outline lines thicker and more noticeable and easier to see? On websites where the Japanese is Vertical instead of horizontal the program does not work properly and just highlights everything (even if it is not) as a separate word and gives you gibberish. I have had many problems when the program does not recognize a word and cuts it in half or when it is multiple kanji for the word and when you try to highlight it to add as a word all that comes up is the translation it does not allow you to add the word to your vocab list. These are just a few things off the top of my head after using the app and the website.
  • (2019-11-07) Maksym Iefimenko: This is that what I was searching for! The only one thing I'd like to add is a possibility to switch off the pronunciation. Anyway, thank you for this app, really helpful in language learning.
  • (2019-11-04) Wu Guo: Wow, really a great tool! It can let me use LingQ on any web page! Good work!
