This tiny and efficient extension adds standard video playback controls to Instagram™ videos. Normally, all you can do with an Instagram™ video is play or pause it, but this extension will expose the native Chrome HTML 5 video player which has a seek bar, a volume control, a play/pause button, Picture-In-Picture (floating video) button, fullscreen video button, and a download video button!
Additionally, if you adjust the volume of a video, the volume will be remembered for future videos. This feature can be disabled in the extension config, if desired. You also have the ability to change the video playback speed between 1/2 to 4x normal speed. You must set this speed in the extension config.
The download Video button is very convenient - just click it, and the video file will download!
The extension automatically runs and works on all web pages that embed Instagram™ videos!
How to use it:
1) Load any web page that contains an Instagram video
2) Click the video to make it play
3) That's it - the extension will automatically detect the video and will reveal the control buttons.
If you want to change the extension configuration (i.e., to set playback speed), click the extension icon found in the top-right of your browser, and then select "Options".

Instagram makes code changes regularly that break some functions such as audio control or video time position, which often apply to some users but not others, but the developer is very responsive when good problem reports are made (rather than complaining in a review) and has worked with me directly multiple times to troubleshoot and fix the issues.

- (2023-06-19) Henny Molly: Since i've downloaded this extension about a year ago the "remember video volume level" has not worked once. It initially plays videos at 100% volume which is excruciating loud (as is without the extension!) and since a few weeks ago it keeps muting and pausing the video after the first view, so no looping. Rest of the controls work fine, like the progress- and the volume bar and the play/pause buttons and playback speed.

- (2023-06-06) Mamad Nobari: Works great, and apart from the mute thing that happens, which most of the times is Instagram's problem not this plugin, I have only one problem with it. And that is that I can't click on a video playing in a story so I could go to the main page the video was shared from. Turning it off solves it, but if they could just make it so the upper half isn't the controls when watching a story, it would solve it and we could have control and also being able to click on the video to go the original page.

- (2023-06-01) Nathan Gonzales: It works almost perfectly, I found out that the issue people are having with it automatically muting is because the normal Instagram button for muting a video is toggled on by default. You can just unmute it, it's right above the new playback buttons to the right side. Now it should work properly, my only complaint is that when you click on a new video it plays it at full blast automatically still, it doesn't remember your last video's volume. idk if that can be changed but otherwise amazing extension
