Breaks up walls of text into readable paragraphs, applies a different font and colouring.
Breakup is a simple Chrome extension that attempts to reformat text elements on webpages so they are more readable.
Formatting options include:
- Changing the font to a web-safe version;
- Changing the size of the font;
- Using a "dark theme" to provide more contrast between background and text.
It is designed to work with Reddit, however, it may work on other websites, depending on how their elements are styled.
To use the extension, right click on an element and select "Break up text" from the context menu.

- (2024-06-25) Chris Merchant: Stupendous! Makes walls of text so easy to read. Even BETTER, after switching to Edge it's still installed and working in Edge without even having to reinstall from the Edge Addons site (where it is not found anyhow)!
- (2014-12-16) Leonard Dobre: I'm using the latest Chrome build, the extension doesn't work. (no context menu item)
- (2014-10-12) ccc vvv: Works utterly and extremely well. Does a really good job of identifying paragraphs. It's just great.
- (2014-09-23) Phi Delta Theta Cal Pi: I found this off reddit and I've got to say its still needs a bit of work like keeping the titles separate from the paragraphs but it does work well. I like it so far. It also works on all websites so thats a plus.
