Blocking offending scripts related to the GitHub DDoS incident, annoying messages and being exploited as source of attack.
Ever seen “WARNING: malicious javascript detected on this domain” when browsing websites? Your browser might have been misused as a DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) tool attacking Github!
Blockdu is the Chrome extension to tackle this problem. Offending scripts will be blocked after enabling the extension, avoiding annoying pop-up messages and being exploited as source of attack.
Note: This extension would affect Baidu sites. If you want to browse Baidu sites, you should uninstall or disable this extension temporarily .
Technical Info:
Regarding the case of GitHub being DDoS attacked, it is widely believed that some JavaScripts in the Baidu domains (potentially injected) are related. Many innocent users are affected, and being exploited as DDoS sources.
The attack has not stopped even after 5 days, there are still reports of the “WARNING: malicious javascript detected on this domain” messages from users.
Although the attack approach may be changed, this extension tries to solve address the problems based on known information. It blocks most of the Javascripts from Baidu, reducing the chance of your browser being misused as attack source.
Note: This extension may affect the browsing of Baidu sites.
