Description from store Better reading experience on Gmail If you having difficulties reading small text in Gmail messages, no need to use browser zoom and enlarge the whole user interface. This small extension can simply zoom only crucial parts of Gmail interface - list of messages - received messages - composed messages. Zoom is saved for every next visit. • (2023-11-28) Andrew Sharpe: Just saved my life. I could find no way to make the reading pane larger and not zoom the rest of the screen at the same time. Our company has just switched to gmail, and I needed this extension badly. Thank you!
  • (2023-08-27) Amit Upadhyaya: Wow, it solved the problem like a breeze. Awesome.
  • (2021-10-21) Hy Ginsberg: Love it -- a game changer. I was just about to switch to always using large font, letting everyone know how blind I've become... Now that's my own business again. Great extension.
  • (2020-10-21) Avi Schwartz: Works very well and helps my not-so-great eyes. Initially I didn't read the explanation on how to use it and thought that I had to click on the icon in the toolbar. Now that I know better to click on the Z to the left of the address bar I am very happy with the result.

  • (2020-08-08) Yvonne Conchie: Great job for expanding the actual emails, rather than the whole screen, menus and all. Thanks
  • (2020-07-08) Does exactly what it says it will. Beautiful simple interface. This was literally the 10th extension I tried to solve this problem and the first that actually worked... Hallelujah!! 🙏
  • (2020-06-30) Telmo Amaral: Exactly what I needed.
  • (2020-03-12) Toma MereNobody: solved my problem neat and quick!
  • (2020-02-04) P Schmied: When it works, it's great, and it has been reliable for quite a while. Having separate sizing controls for list, read and compose is great! I have correspondents who compose in a tiny font size that I can't read, and if I increase my compose font size it gets to them like shouting. After the last update I was surprised by an information screen that appeared each time that I started my Chromebook (the browser opens automatically) . While it is good to be made aware that the last update was a major revision, I'm hoping that after clearing the Chrome cache this stops happening. I don't care about aesthetics, but the new icon shown at the top of GMail needs help. While it matches Google's new design standard in typeface, it does not stand out as a control on the GMail control bar. It needs a circle like its icon has on the browser toolbar, and what is shown on its information page. btw, it isn't necessary to have a copy of Chrome OS to test this extension. The controls and settings of Chrome OS are those of the Chrome browser. It runs GMail in exactly the same way as Windows 10 with Edg(ium) does.
  • (2020-02-04) Gill Smith: This was perfect until the update on 2nd February 2020. Now when we search in gmail the results are all pushed up into one tiny column. It was only be disabling this extension that we realised this was causing the error. Disappointing as it was so useful before the update
  • (2019-07-28) P Schmied: When it works, it's great. But i can't count in it working for more than 5-6 weeks at a time. After every Chrome/Chrome OS "update" the first thing I do is to open GMail to see if it still works after an OS restart. Google keeps breaking inter-operability with it. Goggle 's "Don't be evil" motto is a myth. Actions performed without competence and forethought that cause harm are immoral by omission. They are evil. Google coders don't know how to play nicely with third parties. They aren't developers or software engineers. They don't stick with standardized interfaces. They change labels, invent or switch things on the fly with no warning. They are isolated groups of hackers (original meaning - one who learns on the job by trial and error, doesn't understand what they do before doing it). With a supposedly mature product (release version 75!) that has lots of 3rd party products that inter-operate with it, that is a recipe for FUD by users and developers. Google in-house hackers are human, but so are the developers of most large IT organization. People make mistakes. The most egregious mistakes are those that come from ignorance and lack of management. That's why even the best corporate programmers should NEVER be allowed to make code changes that aren't necessary, aren't supervised, aren't t planned, aren't managed, aren't tested and benchmarked to see that they achieve the purpose of the change, without breaking something else and causing problems for users and aren't documented, and NEVER without being described to 3rd party PARTNERS. EVERY Google software and service change is a "Guess what we did and how we did it" experience. The only ones in the past 5 years that were announced to users beforehand were service and feature removals, Google+ ending and Google Photos losing synchronization with Drive. Google Chromebook users have experienced major GUI changes and broken functionality with almost every "update". When you create a product and expect/invite others to use it, to build add-ons, they are your PARTNERS - stakeholders, not just "users". Ignore them and cause enough problems for serious stakeholders , and they will abandon you, leaving those who don't give a d*mn. Your services will become less trusted, less profitable, and your remaining partners as unreliable and inconsiderate as you are. That is the Golden Rule as applies to the open market.
  • (2018-10-21) Rod: I loved this extension, but a couple of days ago it stopped working! Now the button doesn't even show up. I'm looking forward when it gets fixed!
  • (2018-05-15) William J. Croft: This is a brilliant extension and solves the tiny tiny Roboto default font used by the 2018 GMail upgrade. This deserves much wider exposure for anyone wanting to avoid eyestrain. The extension comes with a Youtube tutorial showing usage. It allows independent adjustment of the zoom for the mail text and the lists of messages.
  • (2018-01-22) So nice to be able to 'read' email without having to zoom in every time gmail is opened. next step...making the feature available via kiwi for gmail, wavebox etc.
  • (2017-04-10) Danijel Ruzic: Very useful and easy! Thanks!

  • (2021-02-18, v:2.1) Bob Rollins: Z appears over Select button
How do I get this to work? I am using Chrome Version 88.0.4324.182 (Official Build) (64-bit) and V7 Gmail Zoom v2.1. In the Inbox view, the Z appears over the top of the Select button and cannot be chosen. In a message view, the Z appears to the left end of the other icons and cannot be selected. The circle Z icon appears toward the right, next to the Extensions icon. It does not provide an option to set magnification.

Hi, I updated to your latest version today. Now when I search in Gmail, the result is shown but only a narrow column. In other words the left 10% of the results are shown, the rest is normal Gmail background.
  • (2020-01-23, v:1.9) Rainer Mager: two suggestions
Hi. Great extension, thank you. I have 2 suggestions: First, emails that come from Google about changes to Google docs that you're watching don't seem to get the magnification settings that other emails do. It would be great if this could be fixed. Second, I use a notebook computer that is usually connected to a large, hi-res external monitor. When using Gmail on that monitor I magnify quite a bit (like 130%). But, sometimes I disconnect from the monitor to use the notebook by itself. Then I only am using the smaller screen and want to return to normal 100% magnification. It would be great if there was a setting that said something like: For window size above X by Y use these magnification settings. For smaller windows, use these other magnification settings. And, then have it automatically detect window size changes and adjust automatically.
