  • (2025-06-11) Corey Baker: 06/11/25 - Installs fine, but nothing happens when I click the extension icon. Not even an error code. Just nothing. Contacted support and while the man was helpful and fast, he could not resolve the issue and noted they'd get back to me if they find a solution. So for now, I guess it just doesn't work, at all. I feel like I should get a portion of the money I paid back, though, since Keys is part of the product and it just doesn't work, and there's no solution either.

  • (2025-04-30) Diego Marino: Well it bothers me that I can only use the extension if I have expressVPN app installed in my machine. It works ok in my PC that I have it installed, but you need to unlock it at least once when you login to your machine so the autofill icon starts to show up. Also, it doesn't ask to save your logins after you input your credentials in a website login page like google does, so you need to create everything manually. The VPN is working great though.

For the past year, when I click the Keys icon in my browser, half the time instead of opening the login window, it will open up a new tab and direct me to set up Keys for the first time (I've had Keys for about two or more years). It's as if it got uninstalled, but it is installed. From a previous poster: "I had an issue for some time where the keys browser extension would work perfectly well on my desktop (win 10), but be fully non-functional on my laptop (win 11) using the same chrome based browser. I could install the extension, but every time I clicked it, it would just direct me to the expressvpn homepage, instead of allowing me to log in to see my keys. No matter what 'sign in' I did on the expressvpn homepage, it would just continue to direct me there. I discovered that the issue lied in the companion expressvpn app that was installed on my laptop being v. 12.95 - and it was NOT prompting me that there was an update available. I checked the version available from the expressvpn homepage (https://www.expressvpn.com/latest#windows), which was v. 12.98, downloaded that - and now i works fully again - including the on-screen red key labels you can press on login fields and password fields to readily load login info into those fields. I would strongly recommended people having issues to manually check their expressvpn version, and if need to - update/reinstall that!"
  • (2025-03-24) Ron Morgan: I've been an Express VPN subscriber for a long time; it's a great VPN. Lately, I've been checking out password managers, as my wife and I have probably 200 passwords for every imaginable website: financial accounts, medical patient portals, forums, professional sites, etc. etc. We use about 5 passwords for all of these sites; it's the only way to manage them. But after reading these recent reviews, I won't be using ExpressVPN Keys. In fact, now I'm thinking about going to another VPN, as a company's quality in one product is usually reflected in its other products. This 2.4 rating just took me totally by suprise. Sorry.

The 'Chat With Us' call to action goes nowhere. I tried to send a message via the 'Contact US' button on the 'Can't create an account' pop up window. Guess what, it does not work. I had to search throughout the website to find another link that reopened a previous conversation that I add, and I asked another question, it's been 30mn and nobody answered. I consider myself a tech savvy person and all their instructions are pretty misleading and complicated whereas it does not need to be. I give them a couple of days before cancelling.

I am sad to see that a successfull company puts out such a poor product. There are many competent Password Managers out there, did anybody check them out before you published yours ? I'm gobsmacked that there is no autofill facility - who doesn't offer that these days? I would not recommend this option to any new ExpressVPN user. To ExpressVPN - do better - this option is below par!

  • (2024-10-29) Roland Lawrence: Comes with the VPN service, so a good deal. However since google chrome did the v3 update, no more auto-fill. I wish expressVPN could have communicated this was going to happen a little better than being super quiet. Still preferred over keeping the passwords synced with chrome or apple keychain on their icloud.

  • (2024-10-21) Gary File: I am very disappointed. I have been using Express Keys for about a year and have had no problems. All of sudden when I started my computer this morning Express Keys does not display the red Key icon in the login fields for any website as it should. Therefore I can not use the Keys passwords. I can unlock the passwords from the extension key but the login of ID and PW portion does not work. I spoke online with tech support via chat and they were of no help. Express Keys at this point is completely useless to me. It does not work in Edge or Chrome anymore. And I made sure and Edge and Chrome's password managers were turned off and have never used them either.
  • (2024-10-15) Dane Ehrlich: I have noted that if I am not running the express VPN client on a device (for example a work machine which I prefer not to run a VPN for personal use on) I can't access my Keys on it. I would like to suggest a web-app be developed for such a use case. Otherwise a good product if you already know what you're doing, not clear to setup otherwise, there's a fair bit of self learning or tech knowledge expected imo. Keep growing/dev up and it's worth it. Eventually you're going to need to change name from VPN, we all know it.

Sometimes uninstalling both Keys extension and ExpressVPN and then re-installing both fixes the problem. Sometimes not... So frustrating!! Can't the software engineers fix this problem?   • (2024-08-22) Alexander Garrison: They just had a server issue as of 8/22/24. I can't even log into my ExpressVPN Keys account as of now. It is having me attempt to setup a new account instead, which scares me deep to the core as I may have lost all of my passwords and data that I spent almost two months meticulosity setting up. Their sign up and log in process for ExpressVPN Keys is confusing and not UX friendly. They certainly should go back to the drawing board with this software product in the future as it's almost unusable from the start and is lacking features that other password managers already have implemented for the expensive price point that ExpressVPN is asking for. For anyone reading this, keep a secure backup somewhere of all your passwords for future reference. I was going to do this soon as I was almost finished setting up all my accounts. However, now I am faced with this issue of literally not being able to sign into any of my accounts due to their unreliable server issues. Personally speaking, look else where for your password manager and VPN needs if possible as their product is unreliable and the security is questionable at best considering it isn't open source code or stable.

  • (2024-07-15) H: Others are right - there's absolutely no easy way to set this up. The auto extraction/importation of existing passwords through other password managers doesn't work. The instructions aren't accurate to what appears in the locations it directs you to for manual input. I'm fairly computer fluent and there's a lot in this process that doesn't make sense and isn't straightforward. Don't bother wasting your time with this, you'll only end up frustrated to the point of anger and you'll have wasted hours and have gotten nowhere. It's worthless.

I open the Vault on another device and see the previously deleted entry. So, I open the Vault again where I previously deleted the entry, now the two Vaults are now sycornized and the entry does not exist on both sides. Now I wonder: if there were a third device, would you see the deleted item, or would it be permanently deleted? Note to moderator: Don't tell me to write to support, it's your job to take messages and report them to them. I love Express but it's not our job to spend time reporting issues that have already been written about publicly.

  • (2024-06-12) Randy Lockwood: Without biometric login to the ExpressVPN Keys browser extension, it is largely useless, as I have to look in eWallet for the password every time I use it. I can just as easily (or more so) find the password I need in eWallet and skip the Keys extension altogether. Also, there should be an option to keep the extension unlocked for a specified period of time or for the current browser session. Having to enter a password every time I use it is not worth the trouble for the reasons mentioned above.

The green tab pop's up everywhere in conversation, email and email and passwords that has been saved, but then updated. The app keeps both and does not automatically update the new password and 2 out of 3 times, it auto enter the wrong key and BOOM you are now sitting to recover an FB account which takes so much effort. I think, from what I can see, the application was launched, but not much was spend since then to perfect it.
