Image from store Local Image File Viewer
Description from store Ever open a file:/// image from your local file system explorer only to find that you want to view the next and previous image in the directory with ease? Well now you can. Install the extension and visit it's options page for more details about how it works! chrome-extension://lhlckkgdiojkapplglfeomlkjllphilo/about.html Note - you have to manually allow access to file URLs once the extension is installed, similar to how you might allow extensions in incognito mode. Enjoy! Fullscreen Slideshow Steps: 1) From options set body CSS to background-color:black; 2) Consider checking the option to reduce flicker if URL bar matters not 3) On windows press F11 to enter fullscreen, on mac press Command+Shift+F ( note: version 0.19 contains a bug where the save button will seem to save formats other than PNG. It does not - all files saved with this version are PNGs. Version 0.20 will save JPGs in addition to PNGs. )

  • (2021-06-01) Tejas Gupta: Very nice! Does the job well, I am very satisfied with it :) Just one thing, how do you rotate the images? The rotate buttons given don't work for me. Please tell me this, then I can safely discard my desktop image app! :D
  • (2020-11-09) Hello Humans: Can you add the option to hide scroll bar (at least in fullscreen) . It is annoying to see scroll bar in fullscreen . Thanks for this wonderful extension .

  • (2020-09-11) Agustin Alamo Antúnez: Buenísimo, un visor de imágenes locales para Chrome, por lo que permite enviar la pestaña al ChromeCast mientras sigues con otras cosas en el ordenador.
  • (2020-07-30) Chris Stump: Love this, but I can't figure out how to configure the URL to access a folder of images on an external [USB] drive? It's my first time using file:///, and googling the syntax rules keeps sending me to Chromebook tutorials. Can you help? :)
  • (2020-04-11) Nguyen Pham: WHY IS IT NOT WORKING WITH MY FILES IN \mnt? I have a secondary drive in my Ubuntu computer and this extension only works with images in \home. please fix it. ps: ah nice, it works now, thanks
  • (2019-12-30) Mario Kotlar: Seems to work perfectly! Lifesaver given that most image viewers out there are full of bloat and aren't even color managed.
  • (2019-12-29) Paras Dhingra: Simple yet seamless and efficient
  • (2019-12-24) Maged E. William: lovely, exactly what i needed, also i made the photos open in chrome by default and it works flawlessly on windows 10
  • (2019-10-11) The Soviet Anime Girl: doesn't work. it's just a scam.
  • (2019-08-29) Robert King: Glacially slow, and most of the time the arrows dont show up. The keys never worked.
  • (2019-07-01) Geovane Oliveira: Fastest Photo Viewer
  • (2019-03-28) Time for GameDev: Можно отключить эту надпись которая вылезает когда что-то работает не так? Can I disable the text? One that pop ups when switching between pictures does not work. "LOADING DIRECTORY Cancel Visit Directory" - this one. Just make a switch, that turns it off forever
  • (2019-02-11) Malte Laurids Brigge: does what it says well, but why not Drive folders if coming from the Files App as well?
  • (2018-12-19) 賴文澤: Why not add svg support !!!
  • (2018-10-08) Central Texas J Booth: awesome! works great and just what I needed to cast images live during an event.
  • (2018-06-05) Ralph Martin: Excellent, just what I need to do a slide show from my laptop onto my TV,
  • (2018-05-11) Ariel Nemtzov: Great job! Perfect for casting the tab to Chromecast and thus casting local pictures in a slideshow.
  • (2018-03-06) Rachel Phillips: perfecto. the mac preview for photos has been crashing. this is great alternative
  • (2018-02-16) 僊逸醉: useful for low spec old laptop
  • (2018-01-24) Nicolas Di Fiore: For fast and quick selection/overwiev of pictures it's very practical especially when you have too many.great job thanks..
  • (2018-01-20) Sam Poulson: Simple and works well. Would be great to add support for raw files.
  • (2017-09-08) Julie Reeves: Everything you need to view just jpgs on camera sd card (i.e. skipping *.raw files). Fast, images rotated as needed, and there is zoom and scroll to check detail.
  • (2017-09-08) malcolm reeves: I've also tried local galley viewer but this is better as it rotates images as needed. I'm on chromebook btw. You can also zoom (spacebar) and then scroll (2 fingers on pad) to see small details on image. As well as this you can limit what file types it looks at. Chromebook default galley will just view all picture types which is a problem as I save *.raw and *.jpg. The raw files are big and galley chokes on them and runs sloooow. This extension is fast and just perfect for the job of viewing pictures on holiday when I just have a chromebook.
  • (2017-04-07) Does the job. Plays my local saved images in a random order. Thank You Dev. Longer then 10 seconds per picture would be nice.
  • (2017-03-27) Chris Romero: Nice viewer extension. Would like it to support panoramic rectilinear file formats with automatic spherical image viewing and panning.
  • (2017-03-27) Chrissy W: I keep coming back to your extension. It isn't always what I want, some formats it doesn't read yada yada... but i just refuse to delete it. It's a useful idea. Don't suppose you have any others? wink wink wink.
  • (2016-11-21) Len Kowalik: I am guessing that this app is meant for the Chrome browser running on something other than Chrome OS, because it doesn't work very well on my Chromebook. It seems to do less than the default viewer (Gallery).
  • (2016-11-20) A TON faster than the default "gallery" app. More bare-bones but works so much better. Thanks so much!
  • (2016-10-05) Greg Montaño: Love the way this works. Our only wish is for the extension to not reset the zoom value every time you switch tabs or have an option to never zoom to fit the entire image in the window. We want to always view the images at 100% scale (no zoom).
  • (2016-09-30) Reed's Delivery Services: I finally found a perfect solution to a Picasa viewer replacement after Google's recent termination. Windows viewer is horrible. Hint: Windows users change default program for opening image files to Chrome. Many thanks to the creators of this extension.
  • (2016-09-30) Sondre Ileby: The best of it's kind by far. Works with html files. Would give it 5stars if i had an option to turn of automatic centering (especially of text).
  • (2016-09-12) Lucien Staarink: Perfect! To show images via Chromcast, or use Chrome as image viewer. No bullshit interface. --> No extra interface at all! Just open image file with Chrome. Done! This extension adds use of Arrow keys to step through images and Enter key to start slideshow.

  • (2019-05-24, v: Walter Smith: FAILS: "LOADING DIRECTORY - Cancel -- Visit directory (alternate load method....
This started recently on Pixelbook, chrome OS 74.0.3729.159 (it worked fine before). I have tried changing the options, rebooting, removing and reinstalling extension, different folders, different files, etc. Arrow keys do nothing; there are no next/back buttons.
  • (2019-03-07, v: Graham Hannington: SVG support?
I want to view all of the SVG (*.svg) files in a local folder. I've appended |.SVG to the "Match Files" option, but I don't get any Next/Previous arrows when I drag a local SVG file into the browser. Is there a problem with SVG support, or am I missing something?
  • (2019-01-01, v: Kevin Gould: Error handling needed
Often when I use the slideshow, I will see a file that is flawed and want to delete it. I flip to Explorer and delete it, but if I scan the slide show forward or back onto the missing photo, it generates an error. Preferably, one should be able to just use the arrow keys to continue beyond this, but the error is fatal and you have to use the back or forward browser control, but then cannot advance the slide show - you have to go back to the directory and refresh the contents, locate where you were in the show, and start again. Hopefully you can add something to avoid this?
  • (2018-12-14, v: Nuno Coelho: Save Timer set for next open
hi. Great work, your app works great. One suggestion - I use it for chrome in kiosk mode. It would be great if when the app loads, the last presets could be loaded as well. In my case: - Timer set (20 seconds per image, example) - full screen size - "Play" I have to do this all times. (Just an advice/suggestion - your logo in watermark on the screen corner (small please) would be acceptable for a free app, and gives you publicity)

This file viewer does not open at all. I click on it an it opens the Chrome Web Store and displays the extension page for File Viewer and says "ADDED TO CHROME". The extension will will not launch. It has been figured properly as best I can tell.
  • (2018-09-23, v: Weyland Yutani: How to start this app?
It is installed, and says it's configured, but I can't work out how to make it look at a folder or an image. What does this mean exactly? "Once Local Image Viewer has been is enabled, from a folder full of images: " And this? "Drag image into browser, or use CTRL + O and select an image file." I'm using a ChromeBook (ASUS).
