Bring the web to your personal knowledge base. Save content to your Obsidian vault so you always have access to it, even offline. Obsidian is secure, private, and designed around durable open formats that allows you to preserve your data for the long term.
- Clip anything: From news articles and blog posts to recipes, product pages, and research papers — if it's on the web, you can save it.
- Select page content: Clip entire pages, selected text, or automatically extract just the main content.
- Highlight the web: Easily highlight important passages, and select the elements you want to save to Obsidian. Your highlights are saved, so you can revisit them when you return to a page.

- (2025-07-04) Hani Mikhail: Phenomenal. Only wish it enabled bidirectional syncing with the obsidian vault to enable vault context for interpreter prompts for things like tags, existing notes, schema etc.
- (2025-06-24) Ken McGlothlen: By and large, I've been enjoying my experience with the Obsidian Web Clipper; it works well enough for most sites, the Markdown conversion is decent enough, and I can (almost) get the subject format I want out of it to keep notes organized to my liking. Some caveats: It doesn't work on all sites; Facebook is a particularly egregious failure most of the time. About the best I can do 70% of the time is to clip a blank note to preserve the URL, and then copy and paste the text or images I intended to clip. Markdown isn't particularly rich, but for the most part, it will kind of do. Capturing comments from various sites (like Facebook, LinkedIn, and other such places) can be pretty frustrating, and often has to be done piecemeal with copy-and-paste. But for the bulk of my webclipping needs, it works pretty well. Now I just need to find out if there's an API for Obsidian so that I can start accessing content programmatically.

- (2025-06-16) Mark M: This is VERY POWERFUL and is now doing the work of other plugins (Movie Grabber, Book Lookups, etc.) Just configure the template for each site type to suit your needs and capture the info needed. Does require some understanding of markup and fields used

- (2025-05-24) Mohd Aqib Zubair: Awesome extension, made capture faster and life easier. At times templater fields don't get filled while clipping the page. But hopefully those problems will get removed soon with subsequent updates. As of now it works beautifully.
- (2025-05-22) Yu Yuphoria: Highlights are gone when the extension updated the previous day. Data is much more important than the tool. Had about 100 odd pages worth of highlights gone. Now need to re-invest more time to highlight those again. Dev shouldn't be this careless. Find a way to preserve the data when pushing updates or just don't push updates.

Default settings are fabulous enough - saves a readable version of the web page right into Obsidian, with link-back to the original and other meta data. You can add notes right as you clip it if you want to add comments, etc. for WHY you're clipping it. But the true power is in customization - for instance, I have it recognizing IMDB pages and using a different template to add shows right into my "You Want To Watch This" list instead of my usual clippings library. Totally indispensable tool!

It would be even better if It would work on more websites like I try to extract content from reddit posts on the old reddit website but it doesn't capture the whole page automatically and I can only select Highlights. The highlights are saved for the next time you visit the article, which is super useful(and neat!). There are customizable templates for arXiv which is super useful when doing literature review. It does take tinkering to suit the extension to your workflow. I have found the payoff to be worth it.

- (2025-03-29) Colin Dowell: Takes a bit of playing around to figure out all the features. Parsing rendered pages for relevant content will never be 100% accurate, but this is up there with the best. The ability to templatize the parsed results and use llm's provides lots of possibilities. Have been really loving it!

I was expecting it to be a little "situational", but I've found myself using it at least once, pretty much every single day. It's a real time saver.
