As with everything Obsidian, Web Clipper is designed to protect your privacy, and give you control over your data. - No lock-in: All your clips are saved in clean, durable, portable Markdown files. No proprietary formats. - Offline access: your saved clips are saved locally, and always at your fingertips, with or without an internet connection. - 100% private: all your clipped content is stored locally in your Obsidian vault. Your thoughts are yours. Obsidian helps you create connections and links between your notes so you can organize your thoughts. • (2025-07-04) Uday Saroj: 👋, seems promising stuff but pls enable actual text highlights and not moving iframe or so on chatgpt.com (do check) p.s. one extra star for young and lean initiative
  • (2025-07-04) Hani Mikhail: Phenomenal. Only wish it enabled bidirectional syncing with the obsidian vault to enable vault context for interpreter prompts for things like tags, existing notes, schema etc.
  • (2025-06-24) Ken McGlothlen: By and large, I've been enjoying my experience with the Obsidian Web Clipper; it works well enough for most sites, the Markdown conversion is decent enough, and I can (almost) get the subject format I want out of it to keep notes organized to my liking. Some caveats: It doesn't work on all sites; Facebook is a particularly egregious failure most of the time. About the best I can do 70% of the time is to clip a blank note to preserve the URL, and then copy and paste the text or images I intended to clip. Markdown isn't particularly rich, but for the most part, it will kind of do. Capturing comments from various sites (like Facebook, LinkedIn, and other such places) can be pretty frustrating, and often has to be done piecemeal with copy-and-paste. But for the bulk of my webclipping needs, it works pretty well. Now I just need to find out if there's an API for Obsidian so that I can start accessing content programmatically.
  • (2025-06-17) Tony: Doesn't save to obsidian on mises android , just copys to clipboard
  • (2025-06-16) Mark M: This is VERY POWERFUL and is now doing the work of other plugins (Movie Grabber, Book Lookups, etc.) Just configure the template for each site type to suit your needs and capture the info needed. Does require some understanding of markup and fields used
  • (2025-06-12) FAHM: It's one of my must extensions! I can easily update my PKM with properties and the help of Interpreter to create my templates. Recommended. My appreciation to the creative team!
  • (2025-06-09) ricardo leiserson: perfect
  • (2025-05-24) Mohd Aqib Zubair: Awesome extension, made capture faster and life easier. At times templater fields don't get filled while clipping the page. But hopefully those problems will get removed soon with subsequent updates. As of now it works beautifully.
  • (2025-05-22) Yu Yuphoria: Highlights are gone when the extension updated the previous day. Data is much more important than the tool. Had about 100 odd pages worth of highlights gone. Now need to re-invest more time to highlight those again. Dev shouldn't be this careless. Find a way to preserve the data when pushing updates or just don't push updates.
  • (2025-05-20) Kathleen Hall: Amazing. Life changing. Heads up: if using the "add to note" function, you need to make the "Note Name" the name of the existing note you want to append to.
  • (2025-05-14) Christophe Pele: Simple and works well. Doesn't require a plugin in the app. I use it to keep access to important pages in Obsidian when I'm offline
  • (2025-05-09) chandler: Best web clipper I've used. I just found the iOS clipper today for Safari as well. Good work team!
  • (2025-05-08) Miroslav Rybníček: Web clipper does not work on Chrome, only on Firefox...

  • (2025-04-06) Peter W: Seems good in a quick test. I just thought I'd feed back that it would be good to be able to set different default folders for different vaults.
  • (2025-04-06) banyan: Can't live without
  • (2025-04-03) Kat Kremser: This plugin has become an absolutely essential part of my workflow and sped up my ability to capture thoughts, notes, highlights and even full pages to read later, so I can move on and not end up in tab hell while jumping between thoughts. It works great with no set up, but the ability to make custom templates and set capture rules is so powerful for research workflows.
  • (2025-04-02) Davy Pinontoan: Thanks for this Extension. Its very helpful for me to gather information from the net to obsidian app. Love it...
  • (2025-04-01) David Lando: Great addon for the Obsidian users, ease of use and customization.
  • (2025-04-01) Tim Morris: Love it. I especially like copying my ChatGPT conversations directly into Obsidian.
  • (2025-04-01) Chris Barnabo: I'm a relatively new (3 months?) Obsidian user and this extension is a game-changer! Default settings are fabulous enough - saves a readable version of the web page right into Obsidian, with link-back to the original and other meta data. You can add notes right as you clip it if you want to add comments, etc. for WHY you're clipping it. But the true power is in customization - for instance, I have it recognizing IMDB pages and using a different template to add shows right into my "You Want To Watch This" list instead of my usual clippings library. Totally indispensable tool!
  • (2025-04-01) 冷门先生: Using it in conjunction with Obsidian has easily become one of my daily habits~
  • (2025-03-31) josh: banger
  • (2025-03-31) Ronny Khalil: Beautifully developed, taking my obsidian experience to a whole new level. With an eye on simplicity and aesthetics, Kepano's continual efforts to defuddle the web is a huge gift for the community, and has revolutionized my experience with web clipping
  • (2025-03-31) Sundar Visweswaran: The Obsidian Web Clipper Chrome extension has truly enhanced my note-taking workflow. Its customization options allow me to clip entire articles, simplified versions, or specific sections seamlessly into my Obsidian vault. The intuitive interface makes it easy to use, and I love that my clips retain formatting and links. Overall, this extension integrates beautifully with Obsidian and has significantly boosted my productivity. If you’re an Obsidian user looking to streamline your web research, I highly recommend trying out the Web Clipper!
  • (2025-03-31) Nihal Krishna: I really love this Plugin and it has saved me sooo much time for copying content from websites. It would be even better if It would work on more websites like I try to extract content from reddit posts on the old reddit website but it doesn't capture the whole page automatically and I can only select Highlights. Other than that I really think this is an amazing extension
  • (2025-03-31) Makarios Tang: Seamless
  • (2025-03-31) Gregory R.: The best extension you could ever use. It's simple, quiet, and gets the job done.
  • (2025-03-30) Lei Peng: The Fantasy addon works perfectly with Obsidian! It seamlessly integrates, allowing me to download all my AI-generated conversions effortlessly—even from platforms like Google AI Studio.
  • (2025-03-30) Charles Mohan: Simple and useful.
  • (2025-03-30) Ігор Андрійович Авраменко: Seemlessly works with all website i browse. Whether it's wikipedia or programming documentation.
  • (2025-03-30) Aleksey Morozov: Cool
  • (2025-03-30) Anubhav Bhatt: This completes my workflow of highlighting academic articles and importing them to Obsidian. The highlights are saved for the next time you visit the article, which is super useful(and neat!). There are customizable templates for arXiv which is super useful when doing literature review. It does take tinkering to suit the extension to your workflow. I have found the payoff to be worth it.
  • (2025-03-30) Konrad Olszowski: Fantastic one - you can download even Chat GPT conversation to markdown and edit it within obsidian.
  • (2025-03-30) Aidan Astridge: I love it for chronicling Youtube podcasts!
  • (2025-03-29) Victor Augusteo: Just wanted to say that I use this daily, and it just works really well. Thank you so much for providing this for free!
  • (2025-03-29) Colin Dowell: Takes a bit of playing around to figure out all the features. Parsing rendered pages for relevant content will never be 100% accurate, but this is up there with the best. The ability to templatize the parsed results and use llm's provides lots of possibilities. Have been really loving it!
  • (2025-03-29) sawta none: I've been using web clipper for about 1 month on my browser and have been really impressed at how well it integrates with Obsidian. I was expecting it to be a little "situational", but I've found myself using it at least once, pretty much every single day. It's a real time saver. If you use Obsidian, I'd encourage you to give it a try. :)
