Image from store Strict Workflow
Description from store 1. Click to start a 25-minute work timer, and work without distraction. 2. Click to start a 5-minute break timer, and kick back and relax. 3. Repeat until all your work is done. ======================= Features: * Easy to use: just one click starts a work/break timer * Easy to get started: pre-configured to block popular distracting websites * Easy to personalize: block the sites that are most distracting to you or change the timer durations * Blacklist or whitelist: either choose what sites to block during a work timer, or what sites to allow ======================= Permissions: * Your data on all websites * Your tabs and browsing activity In order to cover up blocked websites, we need permission to interact with them. We're open-source, so feel free to grab a programmer buddy and make sure that that's all we do: no website's content is read or stored in any way. https://github.com/matchu/Strict-Workflow ======================= The Strict Workflow time management strategy is simple: work hard for 25 minutes without distractions, knowing that a 5 minute break is soon on its way. This extension helps you stay focused while you work by blocking the sites that can so easily distract us. We pre-loaded the extension with a handful of popular distracting websites, but you can easily add new sites to the list, or, if you're daring, you can even create a whitelist of the *only* websites allowed during a work session. You can also change the lengths of the work and break timers - though I'd recommend against it: these times are default for a reason, so only change them if you're certain that they will make you more productive. When we say "strict", we mean it. Once a work timer starts, there's no stopping it without straight-up disabling the extension or restarting the browser. This is for your benefit: I wrote this extension with myself in mind, and I know how tempting it can be to just give up when work gets too frustrating. Therefore, Strict Workflow actively discourages this behavior, though you can always disable the extension in case of emergency. Tomato icon is from Artbees's lovely Paradise Fruit Icons set, and the ringing sound is from FreeSound.org. Both of these assets are distributed under a Creative Commons license. The source code for this extension is available at https://github.com/matchu/Strict-Workflow Please feel free to fork and do what you like! Pull requests make my day. Stay focused, and have fun! NOTICE: This extension was once named Strict Pomodoro, but has been renamed in compliance with a cease and desist letter sent on behalf of Francesco Cirillo, who holds the trademark for Pomodoro and The Pomodoro Technique. Thanks for understanding.

  • (2023-02-08) Jessica Salmonson (darkocean): It works fine! And I'll get a notification when the time's up. Great! It does what I want; blocks sites and makes it annoying to get around shutting it off. Good, that'll make me go back to work as it's not worth the hassle trying to find a way to turn it off. The people complaining are looking for reasons to rag on this extension this makes me wonder why they're trying so hard to turn it off instead of actually working. That seems like another distraction to overcome. Developers probably have to abide by some rules were it has to be possible to uninstall an extension so, quit your complaining and get back to work slackers! I would like if it was on the right click mouse menu and the only options were: Add site to block list/remove site from block list And we can only remove one site per day though the right click menu so as to not abuse it. (Sometimes a person can miss click so it's important to have that the option to undo a mistake.)
  • (2022-11-28) Joyce Tu: There is no "turn off" option, I'll give it that. However, there are multiple ways to disable it quickly, the easiest of which is to simply open the console (Ctrl + Shift + i) and delete the blocking HTML. I can't say this will help me very much, seeing as I found a way around it in less than sixty seconds, but at least it works as advertised, albeit disappointing.
  • (2022-09-26) Nee Bee: does a good job, but they blocked youtube which is something i play in the background to keep me focused. idk why but it doesnt let me edit my list of sites to block anymore and im not sure how to fix that
  • (2022-06-22) Staly Chin: Super streamlined, no fuss, no bloat. Pomodoro extension with blocking! I do wish there was an option to automatically start the next 25min session after the break, but I understand why they would omit that.
  • (2022-03-13) Pedro: Perfect!!! It's simple to use and it works fine. :) I'd love if the developer creates an android version synchronized with the browser extension.
  • (2022-01-10) Fares Hassan: its very useful and great extension but i think it will be awsome if it can block sites after my break time dirctly
  • (2022-01-08) wassimghel: Great job !
  • (2021-06-14) Erick: There is no way to add websites that you are currently visiting.. so you need to add them manually, and cant create a streak of pomos to keep on going
  • (2021-05-09) Aashish Singh: Love this extension but it is taking access to read all the website or certain websites and has no information on the privacy policies, if they are using this to get every website you are visiting?
  • (2021-05-02) Tripti: I love it! It's so useful and I get my work done fast. It lets me play songs using youtube and is super easy to use. I'd like the option to add sites to blocklist even when the timer is still running.
  • (2021-02-16) fiesinator: Does what it says it does and really improves my workflow. Instead of wasting 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there without getting anything done I can work straight through it. I only wish they would notify you when the pause is over
  • (2021-01-12) Igor Peftiev: It saved me hundreds of hours... it allows to block your acced to the sites you open atomaticly - news, social network...
  • (2021-01-04) Nilay Patel: Dont think this works any more. Under no conditions can I edit the block list. Seems cool tho
  • (2020-11-19) Charan Chandran: If you block chrome web store and the chrome://extensions , then there is no way to stop the timer until it finishes. Also you can keep on blocking in incognito if you go to chrome://extensions then click on the extension and toggle allow in incognito mode on. Then you can literally not stop it.
  • (2020-11-13) MandraSaptak Mandal: Super simple and Super Strict
  • (2020-11-05) Eric Procopio: This helps me so much with work. I have terrible self control and ADHA, and I can never getting work done and end up just watching something on youtube or going into some other crazy internet rabbit hole. Ive tried other things like this but I can never commit myself so I love how it cant be turned off.
  • (2020-10-17) Chesca Roda: reduced my procrastination, thanks!
  • (2020-09-17) Ioan Vulpe: o.k.
  • (2020-08-06) A. W.: Badass
  • (2020-07-20) ok but i just dont want to show the time remained, suggest to have that option.
  • (2020-07-13) Russell Perkins (TheDigitalNinja): Simple and effective. I get blocked many times a day still and it feels good to actually get work done instead of falling into the facebook or reddit rabbit hole.
  • (2020-06-27) Solo W: THANKS!!!!! right now I'm doing a full course load online with no library space to go to for focus when studying so this basically saved my life. I haven't been able to get a good study session down since my habits and willpower arent there yet to resist distractions myself so thanks a million
  • (2020-04-09) MARIO RAMIREZ CORTES: NECESITO OIR BUENA MUSICA Y MULTIMEDIA ME SATISFACE PLENAMENTE
  • (2020-03-24) Enon Z: Nice extension, but, there are some serious flaws: 1. After 25 pomidor period, the sites are still blocked if I do not start a break. This forces me to disable it in chrome all the time. 2. There should be an option to pause the timer, not just to reset it on click. For example, I started a counter and I have an important call, that can't be ignored. I was to pause my timer.
  • (2020-03-17) Ethan Cha: It worked but so annoying when I accidentally click it when I'm doing something else. Also, nothing to stop me from going into guest mode.
  • (2020-03-06) Thao Kim Truong: an excellent extension
  • (2020-01-30) Pankaj Kumar: The blocking or unblocking doesn't work if we transition from work to break or vice versa, unless we click on the extension icon. Please fix this, the already open site should be blocked the moment work timer starts, or i should be able to open sites the moment break starts, without having to click on the icon for it to activate.
  • (2020-01-20) Juliusz B: A great tool. There are a bit of tweaks that would be useful, though. Most importantly – presets. I’d love to be able to save a set of whitelisted websites for when I work on one thing, and another for some other times.
  • (2020-01-17) Alexandra. M: Its a great app, the problem is when my daughter is left alone she can just remove it. Please install a system where we can put a secret password, and then make it repeat until the day start so we can't turn it off, whenever we want thanks
  • (2019-10-01) Wendy Phelps-Byam: Great extension but would love to be able to change block/break timer options.
  • (2019-07-24) Sara Garska: I wish it would let me set up which websites when I add it. It wouldn't let me change any of them until 25 minutes had elapsed, but I listen to classical music on youtube while I work and, instead of being able to get right back to work, I had to find another productivity app that wouldn't make me work in silence.
  • (2019-06-11) Erica Magallon: Please add the ability to add sites to the block list when the timer is going. Also, a long break and maybe the ability to keep track of the number of pomodoros you done.
  • (2019-06-11) Edmo Freitas: The best pomodoro extension I've tried so far. The only thing is missing is an option to make the work/pause phase change automatically and block the websites.
  • (2019-06-07) PyrotheEvilPlatypus: Completely useless. All you have to do is exit Chrome and then open Chrome again for blocking to be completely undone. Others like Self Control CANNOT be bypassed like this, but they don't have whitelisting which is what I need.
  • (2019-05-29) Jordan: Honestly helps me get a lot done, but please add the option to lower the timer volume, or change the tone. You don't know how irritating it is for me (and my girlfriend) to hear the harsh ringing go off twice every 30 minutes. Otherwise it would be a 5/5.
  • (2019-05-16) Nicholas Perry: It's really not great that you can't stop it. I understand the "strictness" philosophy, but it's taken me 5 times downloading and removing repeatedly to simply make sure all of the settings are what I want.
  • (2019-05-09) Nathan Hinchey: Starts in active mode, which means you cannot adjust it when you first install it.
  • (2019-05-05) George Morgan: Best Pomodoro Timer 1) Timer is modifiable, not only 25min, but anything you want 2) Showing remaining minutes in red (during work) or green(during breaks) 3) Sounds, when timer ended 4) Not allowed list of sites, configurable
  • (2019-04-03) Fisher M: Rather efficient.
  • (2019-03-10) Love this - use it daily
  • (2019-02-28) Shubham Shree: A great helping hand !
  • (2019-02-21) I really find this extension useful! I think it would be better if there were settings for cycles (like 4 cycles of work-then-break) so that there's no need to keep clicking?
