• (2023-10-19) John Renfro: This is the best translator on the web because you can just highlight a word or a phrase or the entire paragraph and it translates correctly. Press CTRL and in Chrome browser, it speaks the pronunciation. It does need a written pronunciation guide. For this reason 10Ten reader is better for Asian languages.

• (2023-04-23) Andrey Perevitsky: I'd like this extension, but in my browser (Google Chrome 111.0.5563.146) the translation takes a little much time to appear a pop-up box (~1.5 seconds), but on my older device it was taking a really so little time (< 1 second). (I'am using the alt key to translate a text selected.) And, not everywhere TransOver can do its work, e.g. on translate.google.com or here, when I'am writing this review :D. Nevertheless, I'm glad to use TransOver. Thanks you!

When you click on the word or sentence, the app does not see the word or phrase quickly and doesn't show the translation of the word. You must doing it over and over again and it gets annoying for a while...

  Firstly, thank you so much for your application, it is really useful. I often use it to translate from English to Spanish. Ultimately I've been noticing some inconsistencies in the translations. For example, omision of key words in a phrase, made up words that don't make sense, among others. Due to the inconsistencies found in the Transover's translations, I've compared the results with Google Translator and other services whose results are OK. An example: original english text: 'accused the court of coddling criminals' Transover spanish translation: 'acusó al tribunal de delincuentes de minca' --> Wrong Google spanish translation: 'acusó al tribunal de mimar a los criminales' --> OK I'd always believed that Transover used a Google service, but now I think I was wrong. I'd appreciate any suggestion o advice to correct this issue. I love TransOver. Thank you again. Best regards

  Offer a mode where only some words of the page (displayed in a language that the use knows well and he/she reads most often) are translated into the language the user is trying to learn starting with simple, most commonly used words. (Just like in some texts french words/phases are used to transmit the atmosphere of French cuisine, etc.) The page would be translated by default when the page is opened - to 'force' the user to learn new words. The system would keep track of the words it already translated and with time would increase the proportion of translated words. It case the user forgot the words - floating/clicking the translated word to show the original. Eventually, all or almost all of the page would be translated into the language as the person tries to learn the languate.

  This extension is excellent when it works, but too often there is no translation displayed upon hovering (not when selecting the text either). Is there anything I can change in the settings for Google Chrome?   1. Cache queries to reduce API calls. 2. Add an option to display the single word translation as well. It's fetched from the API but unused when a single word is selected. Also it causes past forms to be translated incorrectly. 3. Handle word boundaries better. Moving the pointer within the word while holding the hotkey results in the popup appearing multiple times. It should detect that the mouse hasn't left the word and keep the popup there, untill the pointer leaves the boundaries of the word or the user unpresses the hotkey.

  I recently discovered your extension and I love it - especially when reading French websites, converting to English, and then also looking up French words on English websites! It is amazingly helpful when studying a new language. But when walking through lessons on DuoLingo, I get to the "Read and Respond" interactive lesson modes and the extension clears the screen, losing all progress in the lesson. The only way to prevent this is to disable the extension. Your configuration allows All sites, and "some websites" (whitelisting), but doesn't offer an "Exclude Websites" list. It would be far easier to add DuoLingo.com to a blacklist than to constantly turn off and on the extension. I would therefore like to vote to add an option to exclude websites to your configuration screen. I think this might be a very quick and valuable addition. Thank you for your consideration. Torin...

  With google translate extention I've either got to double click or ctrl click, then I have to click their pop up icon, then I have to click on the foreign languages speaker icon to hear what it sounds like being said from that country. Your app only leaves the default English language as the voice so I have to use the google pop up to hear what a word should sound like in another language. If you enabled voice in other languages, I wouldn't have to click 4 times with google and could just hold alt and ctrl on a word and have the word said immediately in that countries accent, please think about adding this feature as it would be absolute gold on your extension, ease of access can only improve usability. I don't need the translation being said in my countries accent lol, only if I really needed something to read the text, nice that you can use TTS on the fly with this and it works so it's a great feature already as it is, with other voices feature, you would really nail it, plus when you try to change the language as a default it stays in the English voice cause I didn't want to waste your time before writing this :) Thank you for the amazing app, love it! Hoping you are still around and active and can add this feature

  It works well when it's given permissions for all site data but it does not work when when 'On specific sites' is chosen on 'Site access' permission. Making it access data "on all sites" seems like an overkill. It should work with sites that are listed under "On specific sites".

  I like the visual and its functions. But the reverse translate has this problem: it translates from the "Translate into" to "Translate from" but it will find the most related words from "Translate into" to translate, not like the "properly way" like we thought it would - reverse between "Translate into" and "Translate from".
