Changes the color temperature of websites.

Image from store G.lux
Description from store G.lux is a Chrome Extension which changes the color temperature of the browser tab. An f.lux alternative for ChromeOS and Chrome Browser users. G.lux is a free and unofficial variation of f.lux, a desktop app that automatically changes the color temperature of your monitor as the sun goes down. Monitors are typically daylight balanced, which can interfere with your sleep cycle when using them after sunset. G.lux is an alternative for those who are unable to install f.lux due to their operating system or administrator access settings, such as schools and workplaces. In addition, G.lux is currently the only f.lux alternative for millions of ChromeOS users worldwide. Why would I want to change the color temperature of my webpages? Modern displays are 'daylight balanced' causing your brain to think it's daytime, which can keep you from falling asleep at night. In the evening, our eyes naturally expect a more orangish 'tungsten balance.' G.lux is also a useful companion for multitasking photo editors, movie watchers and anyone looking to dim solely their browser without the rest of their desktop applications. Features: -Change the color temperature of your browser/websites. -Make your websites darker without using the monitor or operating system display settings. -Choose a custom color for your webpages. You can even make your screen pink or green! -Variable filter intensity: One-extension for all screens and brightnesses! -Color and intensity settings are saved across multiple Chrome browsers or ChromeOS devices. January 25, 2017 version 3.1 Changelog: -Colors can now be saved on a per website (domain) basis, which overrides the default color. -Color is now applied right away when saved, no page refreshing required! -Selected colors are previewed in realtime on the visible tab. -Improved the injection of the overlay div (but due to a limitation in Chrome we still can't color the white shown between new webpages loading). -Fixed an issue with times between midnight-0100. June 18, 2014 version 3.0 Changelog: -New in 3.0! (Most popular user suggestion) Select a time of day to activate automatically! Set the activation time to your local sunset for an optimal circadian rhythm! Tips: -Use G.lux with the black setting and a low filter intensity to create a dimmed screen between the 'screen off' position and the lowest brightness settings on your monitor. Sometimes the lowest setting just isn't dim enough! -Select a dark theme for Chrome. This extension only changes the color temperature of the page(s) you’re viewing and not the omnibar/tabs at the top of the browser. Alternatively, you may wish to use Chrome in Full-screen mode (F11). Notes and known issues: -The color change only comes into effect when the page has been fully loaded. There does not appear to be a solution to this behavior in Chrome at this time. Permissions: -Access to all websites is required, because the Chrome Extension needs to be able to modify each website to inject a filter over top of what you're viewing. This Chrome extension does not collect personal information or browsing history in any way. • (2019-09-14) Maximilian Horcher: Fantastic idea, but at least as of September 2019, this doesn't work with the current Chrome and MacOS. None of the settings do literally anything to the webpage, nor do any of my settings save. Very disappointing; hope it gets updated, but for now it's broken.
  • (2019-06-03) Sydney Moore: This extension didn't work for me. Not sure if it was just my chrome book but reading other reviews it seems to be a redundant problem. You can always give it a try, but I wouldn't recommend.
  • (2018-08-23) Jason Brocker: This is pure garbage. If the app is meant to be a f.lux alternative then its a complete failure. Shame on the developer for wasting anyone's time with this bottom tier, bottom of the barrel extension.

  • (2017-10-13) Dan Loder: For the only app available on a Chromebook to help my eyes at night, this one does the trick - haters are forgetting to appreciate the functionality of this very helpful, although somewhat limited, extension. It's FREE people!
  • (2017-10-10) Amy Walz: Disappointed...can't get it to save the settings even though it says on here - save requires refresh. I've tried and tried. Bummer.
  • (2017-09-11) Conni M: No funciona
  • (2017-08-30) Albin Sniwe: Fungerar ju inte ens
  • (2017-08-15) Justin Walker: Exactly what I was looking for. Perfect and light weight. What I'm using it for: I like to listen to mixes through YouTube at work and a lot of the cover images are really not work appropriate. This extension allows me to make the window barely visible so I can start and change videos without offending anyone. Well done!
  • (2017-08-12) Alexander Peralta: I love it. Never had problems with it and it adjusts very well everyday. No complaints
  • (2017-08-05) Jack Holden: doesn't work
  • (2017-07-17) Mike Smith: It work great for me . Does what I need it to do .
  • (2017-06-08) Connor Moran: The app is terrible and unfortunately, it is the only one for chrome. It does not cover the entire screen, it doesn't always work, and sometimes it likes to give you a nice blinding flash of white when you are working on your computer at night. Anyone who does not have to use chromeOS use f.lux.
  • (2017-06-08) Isabella Malloy: works well for dimming the screen even further
  • (2017-06-04) Emilio Béjar: No hace nada

As someone who screengrabs Chrome a lot, this would help quite a bit. Is something like this possible? Or is it only the OS that can apply this kind of a filter? PS. Thanks a lot for the useful extension.

I'm having a problem with the extension. First, it froze and wouldn't let me change the colors/transparency. I uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing changed. I uninstalled, restarted my computer, and reinstalled -- now I can move the slider and select other colors, but nothing on my screen changes. It's as if I didn't adjust any settings at all. Please help!
