Latest reviews
- (2025-07-11) Alessandro Giansanti: Like it, very useful flexible
- (2025-07-10) Святослав Давыдов: I'm a very new user of this extension and currently for me it works perfectly! If there were any bugs, I believe it's not the Dev's fault, due to chrome being in a state of constant feature flux. Sincere thank you and keep up the good work!
- (2025-07-09) Marco Laino: the best thing for Chrome. Works great to suspend the tambs. Lot of customisations. Thanks for creating this
- (2025-07-02) Gerardo Álvarez: It is disrupting the favicons displayed, showing the ones from other websites and so making it confusing to know which is which.
- (2025-06-24) Thomas Grimes: Used to work very well, but now when a tab is suspended it takes several times MORE memory. Also, after not long it stops working entirely. It will stop suspending automatically and even trying to manually suspend a tab it just does nothing. Restarting the browser helps with that...for a while.
- (2025-06-19) Gerry Mackie: Joining the crowd. This was very convenient until a few weeks ago. It was updated, I think, to a version with several flexible features. But a consequence of the update was that tabs are suspended after a minute or two regardless of settings. Renders Tab Suspender unusuable. Please fix it soon. Also after TS update, Macbook crashed (rare) working in Brave. Three stars to be kind, turning to one star if there is no fix. Edit: Unusable, definitely now a one star, Ambitious update with dandy features failed. App continually suspends any open tab within a minute or two. Developer never fixed the defect,
- (2025-06-17) Ник: change url = not good
- (2025-06-06) Gary Ross: Great for saving battery etc. but now suspends instantly whatever your settings. This seems to be a bug of some kind.
- (2025-05-28) Bacbi: It is true that its not working as well as before, two major things are. 1. Periodically it starts to put tabs to sleep in 30-60 seconds. And I get the annoyance, but if you go into settings and copy your whitelist page. Remove the tab, then re-install it. It goes back to working normally again. On a side not as a companion extension to this I would also reccomend people to download Session Buddy. Cause sometimes even if you close out each window to make sure you get to open them all. It won't be saved properly. With Session Buddy it copies the windows and its links in the state it was in. So if it was suspended where the page is black (due to you having removed the extension while tabs were suspended with the extension) until you click the link. It will restore the page in that state so that you don't have to manually suspend each window again. Also avoiding having a giant spike in ram usage if you open up all the windows. 2. You can't use it with chrome//:discard like you could before and the reason given on the discard page is that the extension protects it from being able to be manually discarded, which is too bad. But I get that it was caused by the chrome update. Hopefully these are things that can get fixed over time. But at least for those who experience tabs suspending quicker than they have set it. Now you have a fix for it. Edit: One things I wish was more explained is in the settings it says Discard Tabs (New) Enable automatic discard suspended tabs to free up even more memory I'm not really clear on what that means? Is it the same as back when I could use chrome//:discard together with the extension? Except now I can't do it manually because the extension protects it from being manually discarded? If that is the case could you add a way to discard the tabs manually through the extension? Cause I've tried to turn it off and use the chrome//:discard but it still says protected and won't work.
- (2025-05-15) Brendan Baker: I love this extension but the latest version keeps suspending my tabs after about a minute even though I have it set for 30 minutes! Very irritating.
- (2025-05-14) Arnold Saenz: I like it and don't remember having problems with it but would like even more if it had option to restore with hard refresh. Some sites need a hard refresh and some don't but things would flow more smoothly if I didn't have to perform a hard refresh on those sites that need it after clicking on the screen in order to restore the tab. Update: Stopped working like it should after 2.0.6 update on Win 7, and Chrome Version 109.0.5414.120 (Official Build) (64-bit). downgrading to 1 star because it's been over 40 days since problematic update and seemingly no attempts to rectify. Pity.
- (2025-05-13) Sparktite (Personal): EDIT* Changing to 1 star instead of 2 stars because it will literally stop working for days at a time. Enjoy wasting all the time in setting every last setting for this extension up only to find out nothing works for the 3rd time trying to get this extension to work out of sheer desperation. I dont see other good suspenders why cant this old one just work consistently? Why doesnt chrome just work normally especially without requiring an extension to unbreak itself with lmao Good luck navitgating the github btw if youve never used one. Thank god i know what im doing on there but still so much wasted work/time. When it worked it was the best extension i had because it made chrome actually work for me. Original Review below: Great when all you care about is putting everything to sleep so you can play your game better. However, it doesnt seem to be able to keep settings the way you set them. I turned everything off and found it was still constantly resleeping half of my tabs. Kept having to click the unsleep all button which then eats all of my cpu to fix the problem. But then it just puts them back to sleep even though ive turned all sleep options/settings completely off. The only thing i can do now is completely disable the extension from within chrome to stop it all. I may try enabling it when i want it back, however its all so broken that ive lost all my trust in this extension and will most likely be looking for an alternative. Alternatively (alternatively(lol)) i do have many reasons irking me to just make the switch back to opera gx as chrome seemingly wants to change everything about itself with all these updates its pushing out. Its to the point i cant get a consistent user experience here.
- (2025-05-07) Jamie Moore: Works perfectly until a recent update, am now getting a console warning "Unchecked runtime.lastError: A listener indicated an asynchronous response by returning true, but the message channel closed before a response was received"
- (2025-05-07) Spencer Mackenzie: doesnt work anymore, i agree, great when it did, but now it simply doesnt.
- (2025-05-05) Gena Moore: I was going to write a really nice review, because this suspender really works for limiting memory used. But then, as soon as I opened a new tab to create my review, all my tabs disappeared, and I have to manually restore them from history. This is NOT cool. Pretty please change your extension so that it doesn't do this by default. It is so incredibly unhelpful. If you do this, I will write an update to my review and give it 5 stars.
- (2025-05-03) Cosmic Voyager: Tabs are suspending very quickly and ignoring my ten minutes setting. I am on Mac.
- (2025-04-29) Scott Bernstein: Agree - tabs are getting suspended <2 minutes without changing anything in the settings.
- (2025-04-29) NK5 LLC: Please revert back to when it was working. This new version is horrible and completely unusable. It completely ignores the disabled "adaptive" setting and is suspending tabs within seconds, also ignoring my 30 minute auto-suspend setting. Deleting this to find one that actually works.
- (2025-04-23) xSacredOne: No longer works. :( Win 7. I understand if that is too niche to solve and test for.
- (2025-04-23) Vito: Stop working for me. Was great when it was working..
- (2025-04-19) Alexander Shalashilin: Worked perfect, but as I am still on win7, it simply stopped working.
- (2025-04-15) Denis (eXP_dot_Net): Your extension takes up the entire RAM (more than 8 GB, for a total of 12 GB in the system). After that, either the extension itself or the entire browser (Google Chrome) crashes with an error.
- (2025-04-15) Mi Li: the best tab freeze extensions
- (2025-04-10) wolo wolson: Can't imagine working without it
- (2025-04-10) Whizy: Love this extension. Does it's job well. Though as of 10.04 it seems to have the same memory issue from the February.
- (2025-04-09) T. L. (SIO117): Was brilliant for years. Simple, yet powerful options. But recently no setting applies proper, nothing saves after closing chrome. Still somewhat usable though. Hope this gonna be fixed soon. Then this extension is a 6 outta 5 all day ez. Edit on 09.04. Thank you so much for the quick reply. Hope you gonna get it fixed. Appreciated, thanks for the work on the extension so far.
- (2025-04-05) Rudranil Ghosh: This used to be the best suspender app in chrome web store. But currently nothing works properly, filled to the brim with bugs. Every single function has bugs.
- (2025-04-05) Blade. Ry: Currently favicons dont work, no indicator bar to see how long before site gets suspended, or an icon to show site is suspended, tried factory reset, didnt work. Strange reddit behavior when coming back from suspend, if site is suspended and reactivated, it reloads that tab 5-6 times in a row. If the reddit tab is not suspended and i reload it, it only reloads once.
- (2025-04-01) Lucas Galdiano: have used this extension for a long time and it has been a great asset for me to optimize ram usage. just got the chrome update that mention that the extension was no longer supported and was deactivated. it would be great to have it up and running again! edit apr1, 2025: it is up and running again. life saver extension! thanks a lot for the developer! google should buy you out for doing such a great addition to chrome browser!
- (2025-03-28) Marco Geracao: This extension is unreplaceable. Please, bring it back officially for latest chrome versions !
- (2025-03-25) Bernardo Dantas: PLEASE, PLESAE PLEASE! Make a new version compatible with latest Chrome "best practices". There's no appropriate alternative to this extension.
- (2025-03-25) Chas D: Worked extremely well, flexible and a very handy extension, until Google broke it with a Chrome update. Very frustrating to have 100s of tabs now with incomprehensible web addresses that can't be opened. However, I followed the instructions posted by others earlier by going to the "Manage Extensions" menu, and thankfully got it working again, though Google Chrome Web Store says they don't support it. Google/ Chrome should stop this practice of killing extensions because of their own updates, when doing so has such a drastic impact on end users that rely on working with large numbers of tabs daily and now can't access them.
- (2025-03-17) Ir Kurniadi: Using it for years without problem, recently chrome getting really slow, turn out I had to re-instal this to make it work again (dont forget export your setting first)
- (2025-03-17) Ir Kurniadi: Using it for years without problem, recently chrome getting really slow, turn out I had to re-instal this to make it work again (dont forget export your setting first)
- (2025-03-15) Sonia J: it worked so well, i completely forgot I had this installed. now after a chrome update I am not able to reactivate my sleeping tabs - even after re-enabling the extension (switching the toggle on). now i don't know what to do but to ask tab suspender to update their extension to google's "best practices" requirements and to please fix this! thanks for your work in the past and hope you will keep on the ball :)
- (2025-03-13) Will Chambers: my most used extension. please bring it back @google
- (2025-03-10) Mayank Gupta: I updated my chrome today and suddenly noticed that chrome had stopped supporting this extension. I panicked because 100's my inactive tabs were now not loading and it seemed I had lost the links forever. As Nick points out below: The way to get them back is the following: At the top right of Chrome, select the 3 dots (or More) and then Extensions and then Manage Extensions. At the bottom right, select the toggle of the unsupported extension you want to enable. Then re-enable Tab Suspender - it will warn you it's no longer supported but it revived my tabs.
- (2025-03-09) Gilberto Bobadilla: The best extension I ever used. Why Chrome, whyyyy??!!!!!
- (2025-03-09) Taufik Naaim: Please comeback. Chrome sucks big time after flagging this extension
- (2025-03-06) Francois Tremblay: Chrome made a major mistake disabling this extension. I have been using it for a long time and it's the only tab suspender that has ever worked well for me. All the others don't work somehow (perhaps I changed a setting somewhere, I don't know). Why is Chrome not allowing us to use extensions that work?
- (2025-03-05) bryan brancot_te: Works perfectly, currently block by chrome in version 2.0.1.1 and chrome 133. Hope it will be back soon
- (2025-03-05) 晨夜: If it has a Traditional Chinese user interface, the software will get 6 stars!
- (2025-03-04) Alexander Miu: very nice tab suspending extension, been using it for years now, constantly juggling hundreds of tabs. whatever chrome's problem is now, i'm sure it will get fixed soon.
- (2025-03-03) Nick Ashe: Great extension that I've used for a while now. Recently stopped working on chrome an I thought I lost tabs. The way to get them back is the following: At the top right of Chrome, select the 3 dots (or More) and then Extensions and then Manage Extensions. At the bottom right, select the toggle of the unsupported extension you want to enable. Then re-enable Tab Suspender - it will warn you it's no longer supported but it revived my tabs.
- (2025-03-03) Wilde Foxy: IDK why people don't like this extension, I personally find it easy and useful. It does its job, keeping tabs suspended for months, and my not-that-large-memory laptop manages to keep up with chrome. After the last chrome update all suspended tabs seemed to fail, but I re-installed the Suspender via git.hub and all my tabs are back, all works just fine. Thanks for the tool.
- (2025-03-03) Nano Dragon: One of my favourite and most used extensions. Really hope it continues to exist!
- (2025-03-03) Jan Kowalski: useless piece of software that removes your tabs permamently. DO NOT USE THIS if you don't want all your tabs dissappear
- (2025-03-01) Val: Unable to unsuspend my tabs at the moment, having to go through the suspended tab history and dig them out, which isn't pleasant.
- (2025-02-28) Đức Anh: Highly recommended! Been using for years. I love it. Had to reinstall because the latest Google Chrome updates broke the extension. All good now.
- (2025-02-27) Rodrigo Elesbao: A very nice extension.
