Embark replaces Chrome's default new tab page with a pared back design and beautiful photography allowing you to focus on what matters.
There's a handful of features but each one is highly customisable through the options page:
- 60+ inspirational photographs
- A 12 or 24 hour clock
- The date
Embark loads blazingly fast and uses almost zero resources.

The extension has been no longer updated for years and I create an alternative with the Tabliss extension in case of this extension doesn't work in a future Chrome version. - (2017-04-12) Embark is what I was looking for, and it's perfect for a guy who likes looking at stuff in the simplest way as possible. Embark keeps it simple as possible, just a clock on a random backgroud. Clean, Simple, Modern, and just nice to look at when opening a new tab. It's great that chrome can start with something simple now, and it feels great.

Is it normal that the new tab changes the address to something like: "chrome-extension://aeajehgeohhgjbhhbicilpenjfcbfnpg/dist/tab.html" I'm accustomed to using the addressbar to just click and start typing a google search / web address -- the Embark New Tab page instead puts this random string, which messes up my typing.
