Description from extension meta

A find and replace bar for Google Chrome

Image from store FindR
Description from store FindR is a handy extension that does exactly what the name implies: it finds and replaces words, allowing you to completely change the text of any website. This is great for pranking and trolling and just having fun with funny edits on pages. On a more practical note, it also has an input field option that allows you to easily find and replace all the text in input fields (such as forms, etc.) NOTE: After installation or updates, refresh any previously opened pages to make the extension work. Usage: * As you type a search term, it finds matches on the page. You can replace by typing text in the replace box and either clicking the arrows (replace one by one) or "Replace All" * NEW! An options page that allows users to save find/replace pairs that automatically apply to any new tab. Features: * Case-sensitive search * Full Word search * Regular Expression support for searching * Input Fields allows users to replace text within input fields (note: this only allows "Replace All" - it doesn't highlight matches). * NEW! Automatic find/replace background functionality Shortcut to Open: * Windows/Linux/ChromeOS: Ctrl+Shift+F * OSX: Ctrl+Shift+K Shortcut to Replace All: * Ctrl+Shift+A 03/25/2017: 1000 users! • (2023-04-26) Pablo Savigne: Doesn't work for inputs, always resetting the values after save.
  • (2022-12-28) Reinis Bērziņš: It didn't work on Facebook photo descriptions input textboxes, in Google Sheets and even on this Webstore reviews input box. It didn't find even a single letter. I tried with both checked and unchecked "Input fields" flag. I refreshed tabs after I installed this extension.
  • (2022-08-11) Oleg Loewen: sehr praktisches Tool
  • (2022-07-08) Luis Espinal: FINALLY!!!!! a find/replace extension that works... the option for "Input Fields" checkbox did it for me... other plugins don't offer these advanced options for free... please keep them there... only reason why this plugin worked. Thank you.
  • (2022-05-22) BD Web Foundation: I searched for many extensions in the Chrome Web Store but I couldn't find the perfect extension like this so you can use this extension without any hesitation.

  • (2020-04-08) Сам Собой: Не работает
  • (2020-02-21) Glenn Robinson: Excellent tool, plugs the gaps left by the simple built find dialog. Was tearing out my hair (haven't got much to spare either!) wondering why is wasn't working until I saw the tip about refreshing the web-page to enable searching. Cool!
  • (2020-01-28) Hi, great extension but apprently it only changes visible text, not the value behind it. Basically i do data entry that requires me to click a save button after doing changes, and your extension only works if i pass again behind it to change a little something in the text field. Don't hesitate to shoot me an email if you want more details. I think it's the same issue as the person talking about tag stuff in html underneath.
  • (2020-01-27) Georg Baum: Serves well as workaround for the search & replace feature Atlassian removed from Confluence editor in 2019, i.e. you edit the page, trigger FindR to replace what you wanna replace, save the page. 4 and not 5 stars because I can either replace all occurrences nor none, but despite the UI suggests it shall be possible, I cannot jump from search hit to search hit and choose to replace or omit a single hit.
  • (2020-01-21) Nick 390: I can't Find and replace number
  • (2020-01-15) Gallerian Marlon: Exactly what I wanted. Great work.
  • (2019-12-23) Pranjal Gupta: Amazing extension. MIT needs to accept the author asap.
  • (2019-11-30) Rahul Jadhav: Excellent addon for Chrome. Chrome does not have case-insensitive, regex based search. This is exactly what I needed. Thanks
  • (2019-07-07) Gersivan Oliveira: Bem útil pra busca e correção de palavras, com opções avançadas.
  • (2019-03-22) vlād: Cool idea but doesn't work. I'm developing my own that will allow one to search / replace any visible text (or selected one).
  • (2019-03-20) Kian Larb Daniel Wai: Totally not work
  • (2018-12-20) A •: Great extension! I was wondering if theres a way to keep the extension from closing once you tap in the browser. I'm looking for a find exact text option that will allow me to find each instance of this text on the page but allow me to keep being able to click them as I record the mouse clicks
  • (2018-11-08) LK: I find this excellent for batch editing metadata in a digital repository. Great extension.
  • (2018-03-18) Tetryon: It worked for visible text, but I could not change the HTML on tag stuff on the fly.
  • (2018-03-14) Finn Aerix: I used it for replacing ß to ss, becuase I am a Swiss person and in Swiss we use ss instead of ß.
  • (2018-03-13) buz adam: thank you very much very good
  • (2018-02-28) r w: Not working. Hope it could work.
  • (2018-02-18) Kyle Flaherty: Awesome
  • (2018-02-09) Daniel Valentine: It doesn't work with Airtable, was hoping it would. I need to access spaces from a spreadsheet
  • (2017-11-25) Chris Dahms: Greatest extension ever! To the author, seriously, you should drop out of school and go to work for Google, I have been waiting for this functionality in Chrome for many years, finally found out about this extension just now via a Quora post.
  • (2017-09-29) ub carpet: Thank you, Works great.
  • (2017-08-28) Pavel K.: doesn't work at all
  • (2017-04-18) Vyacheslav Sh: Not work On page with multiple text forms can`t find and replace nothing.
  • (2017-02-19) Not work
  • (2017-02-02) Elizabeth Henning: Works fine after I closed and reopened Chrome. Nice job.
  • (2017-01-25) I can't get it to find anything!
  • (2017-01-22) K // Tiffany Flowers: I think this might be the best one I've found, but I'm not sure if works well enough for it really be as helpful as I'd like. I do a lot of data entry type work and the fact that tab doesn't get me from find to replace and the lack of keyboard command for replace all slows down the process enough, that I'm really not sure it'd help my process at all.
  • (2017-01-22) David Zheng: exactly what I'm looking for!
  • (2017-01-18) Yasin Ahmed: Its Very Helpful Loved It
  • (2016-11-01) Celestra Erit Ultima: Since the first run that did not replace a single occurrence of the entered word, the "Replace" button is grayed out. Useless fakeware. Uninstalling.
  • (2016-10-20) TanfolyamOKJ. hu: Hibátlan :)
  • (2016-09-23) Warmuser: Works, but not for entire words. You can replace only letters.. Disappointing for me.

  • (2018-12-03, v:1.1.2) bhaskar k: Suggestion on enhancement
First of all ... great tool and if you can enhance this to next level, I think many people will start to like it and use it. 1) while reading complex article in English, if we can replace this by any Indian language words Example: "to comprehend" should be replaced to "to comprehend(समझने के लिए)" 2) in this way our reading speed will increase for people who can't understand complicated English words 3) We should have a config file which we can load like imagine we have 1000 words in my vocabulary which I want to be changed and content to be customized to a simple English for quick reading. Hope this idea helps us to convert lots of content in much readable format.
  • (2018-07-24, v:1.1.2) Your Extension works great
One thing that I think would benefit your product would be a favorites type feature like on this product https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/find-replace-for-text-edi/jajhdmnpiocpbpnlpejbgmpijgmoknnl I am making mass changes on multiple code pages within moodle using the HTML+ and if I accidentally type over the saved search term, I have to manually enter it again each time. It would also be great if the extension remembered the last replace phrase as well as the last search phrase. Having a favorites option would also allow for me to recall items I am repeating over and over again. To avoid having to add the replace language each time. It would speed up my find and replace processes 100x. Thanks!
  • (2018-05-30, v:1.1.2) Olof Paulson: Change "not sticking" properly/ Capture groups/highlite input/ favorites?
Dear Rahul, thank you for making a great extension, very useful I have four "issues/comments/suggestions" My main usecase: I translate Khan Academy (one of many around the world) and was looking to use find/ replace to do tedious changes like change 1.5( us decimal) to 1{,}5 European decimal, thousand separators etc... and regular text find replace Issue 1 : Content doesn't stick:After I make the Find/replace change In an edit field ( html type:contenteditable) and choose to upload the change "the old value" gets uploaded not the changed one. so 1.5 gets uploaded, even though I see 1{,}5 on screen...I am guessing this is because your Find/replace code does not trigger some form of update event that is triggered if I was typing or copy/pasting into the field . Any ideas on fixing this as it is a deal breaker for usage:-) maybe it is just in this html type? 2. Input fields Count/ highlite: would really love to see the count and highlite of these as you can the regular ones( not clicked input fields). Is this a feature you could add? otherwise you are flying blind. 3. capture groups syntax: I understood you use java, and I thought correct syntax would be Search for : (\d).(\d) Replace with:$1{,}$2 but that results in: $1{,}$2 could you tell me what I am missing? 4. ability to save favorites would also be appreciated thank you again Rahul and all the best with your studies
  • (2018-03-27, v:1.1.2) Tomasz Łapczyński: How to copy settings
I configured "find" and "replace" fields with multiple words. Is there a way to copy my settings to second computer? FindR installed automatically but it didn't copy any settings from first computer. Is there a way to do it somehow?
  • (2017-11-28, v:1.1.2) Sam Hemley: Limit on replacements?
I believe I may have hit some sort of limit on the amount this can replace... Is there a hard limit set or can the application simply not handle, for example, 100+ replacements of words / phrases?

  • (2017-07-27, v:1.1.2) Yusuf Young: Wordpress black magic?
I am really confused by this. I am working in Wordpress, editing a page. I tick "Input fields" and replace a word with another word. Nothing happens... Then I reload the page (NOT saving), and the words are replaced. Cache? Well, I open incognito with no addons, open the same page (that I did NOT save after doing a replace), and the changes are still there! How does this happen? Secondly, I do NOT like it. I don't want it to replace and SAVE for me when I haven't even clicked the save button. Please help me understand what's going on here.
  • (2017-07-02, v:1.1.2) Miles Cranmer: Regex style
What family of regex does this use? I tried to use vim regex but it does not work, so maybe it is GNU regex? A great feature nonetheless!
