Description from store Ever wanted to surf the web without seeing all the images, but haven't found a method that keeps full Internet functionality? This extension provides a solution: (NOTE: It does not save bandwidth - see later.) It hides the images by displaying a coloured texture where they would be. Small images, and many background patterns are recognized, and will always displayed. Any individual image can be displayed simply by moving the mouse cursor over it, and clicking on the eye that appears (or press ALT-a). The eye will then turn into an undo symbol - click on it to hide the image again (or press ALT-z). There is an exception list (right click the icon and click Options). When navigating to a URL that contains one of these exceptions, Wizmage will be disabled for that page. For example, if you have 'google.com' as an exception, then the whole google.com domain will be excepted. If you have 'blog' as an exception, then all URLs containing the word 'blog' will be excepted. You can also have a Black List, whereby Wizmage only runs on selected sites. This options can be found in the Options page. An extension icon appears in the top right of the browser - clicking it displays 5 options: 1. Add or remove the current domain name as an exception. 2. Similar to 1, but only applies to the current tab. 3. Show all images just this time. 4. Pause / Unpause Wizmage. 5. Pause Tab - this will pause the current tab for any site. The extension will update itself automatically as it improves and will always be free. TROUBLESHOOTING (Q) ALT-a isn't displaying the image: (A) Try clicking next to the image, then move the cursor back over the image and press ALT-a. (Perhaps you only had to move the cursor away from the image and then back again.) Note that some images cannot be individually displayed, as there is an invisible element over them. (Q) I want add a particular page to the exception list, not the whole domain: (A) Right click the Wizmage icon, click Options and add the URL. (Q) Text is camouflaged by the coloured textures, and cannot be read: (A) In the unlikely case that this happens, either 1) Show that image, 2) Reload the page (the colours are random, so you will get fresh colours) or 3) Use the tooltip of that image. (Q) It is not working 100% (or not at all): (A) Please report the problem by clicking 'Send Feedback' in the Details tab. Alternatively, send me an email at [email protected]. NOTES • This extension uses raw JavaScript without libraries such as jQuery, to improve performance. (The Options page does use jQuery.) • Wizmage was not written to save your bandwidth - many images are loaded in the background. This is necessary to determine whether they are real images or icons. • It is impossible to add parental controls, since for security reasons, Chrome makes it very easy to disable/uninstall any extension. • As much as possible, tooltips are given to hidden images, so you can tell what they're about. • Source code at https://www.assembla.com/spaces/wizmage. • Tree icon from http://dapinographics.com/ under the conditions of the license there.

Has white/blacklist. Chosen image shows w/an Icon click.. Well-crafted extension! One note..in options, they claim the their image has transparency..I don't see that. Now, not that I need to save on data, but blocking vs hiding means less cache cleanup too. If you want an easy image blocker that blocks and doesn't replace the image, try the extension "Block Image". The icon isn't as cute as the palm trees though, and you may miss those pastels.

On facebook, some minor problems exists, as: circular profile photos are not hidden, and also some photo are hidden with black not pattern and the eye icon button to view image does not appear on black, however its position is known int the upper right corner.

I know this plugin isn't intended for saving bandwidth, but maybe add disabling image loading as an optional feature. Due to Chrome basically getting rid of adblockers and the like next year, I and many others will not be able to stay on Chrome and will be forced to move to Firefox, I respectfully ask and request a version for Firefox or perhaps a suggestion for other extensions like this one for Firefox. I myself have looked but have been unable to find any that function correctly or comfortably. This addon is the only one I can find that does what it does perfectly and I truly hope you can bring this to Firefox.

Please consider adding an option to unlock an image simply by hovering the mouse above it. There's another extension called Image Hider by a dude named Alex or something that does this already but he doesn't have any kind of image for framing nor does he allow to make exceptions for smaller sizes. I'm sure the lock thing works great for some people, but for me I want noise reduction, not elimination. Cheers, appreciate the work you've invested so far even if I currently use it minimally

Good job thanks : some features like this extension in the firefox broser called Image Hider.. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hide-images-opacity/ for example: -adding opacity option that have different levels of opacity for the user when the user mouse hover over the images they appear- you can give the user option to use the theme that they like for hiding image the recent one and this one adding custom key to hide or show images - In general, one of the best extension that I have ever used on Chrome best regards...

Hi, Unfortunately on some nasty sites annoying ad images still appear. Example: https://ecodom-derevo.ru/stoit-li-pereproshivat-android/ (warning: ugly, disturbing images may show up). The technique seems to be css background-image property + some other trick.

I use this extension like an official extension for hide images in websites, but i am having issue in certain sites, like YouTube and others. For example, in YouTube, when i open a video, all the images is hidden, but, when i reload the page, the avatar image becomes visible, even i decreasing the safe pixels. Other sites, like megacurioso.com.br, don't hide images, and others, like ed.conpet.gov.br, don't hide background image, for example. Thanks.

But if you ever find the time to update your extension I would be grateful if you consider the idea, to add a shortcut key to turn wizmage functionality on/off. Elliot! Thank you for your responsiveness in this support forum. Any chance you would consider creating just a faint outline of the image area as an option? I find that the colored blocks are distracting. but if I turn them off it's sometimes hard to move identify the individual images if I want to selectively reveal them. Hi, being an observant Jew, I am careful to avoid immodest images, your app is the best I have found out there due to its versatility, but sometimes it hides hyperlinks etc., could your app be developed to offer a semi-transparent, or blur option, thus still shielding immodest images but allowing full access to hyperlinks,...what would be the cost of such a addition to your wonderful app?

I set hide images on KhanAcademy.org but ocationally I need to watch their videos(embed youtube), but everytime I have to move cursor to the video and alt-a, and I have to press couple times alt-a to show the video, cos it's usually won't triggered by the keystroke, so I wonder how can I add youtube videos but not the video cover(when playback not started) included those embed externally to the whitelist?

Hi, We recently received a Samsung sm-T813 tablet and we would like to install Wizmage on the tablet. We tried downloading Wizmage onto the tablet, but it did not work. Hi, The plugin is awesome, thanks! One issue though - when scrolling through facebook feed, the newly loaded user avatars appear very large, messing up the feed layout. Hope you can fix this soon. As this plugin is the best to browse the net safely.
