Simple Autoscroll
Extension Actions
- Extension status: Featured
- Live on Store
An extension that adds the ability to automatically scroll through long pages.
Ever want to read through an article without even touching a mouse or keyboard? Simple Autoscroll will help you with just that!
With Simple Autoscroll, you simply set how many pixels to scroll at set intervals, press "Go", and start reading! To stop the scrolling, simply click on the extension icon and the scrolling will cease.
Simple as that!
Tips:
- Want to scroll from the bottom to the top? Simply add a negative value into the "Scroll X Pixels" field.
- For a smooth scrolling experience, simple input lower values for both pixels and milliseconds. For example scrolling 1 pixel every 30 milliseconds provides a nice, smooth scrolling experience. increasing the millisecond count makes it slower.
Simple Autoscroll has not and never will never read any of your data and will only modify a page as needed to make autoscrolling work properly. Simple Autoscroll also does not make any network requests. Simple Autoscroll is an open-source extension. The source code is available on our GitHub page: https://github.com/danman113/simple-autoscrollv2
Note: Doesn't work on all websites.

- I downloaded it, but I ended up deleting it. I re-added it so I could make this review to maybe help some others. I'm going to delete it again though, I thought the functions were weird and to operate. and for me personally I didn't see the usefulness for it unless you don't have a scrolling wheel mouse(I have) or using a trackpad. Understanding -At first I had trouble figuring it out like some other reviewers, but I figured it was a site that would probably be considered sensitive. (settings, pages that will have payment info etc.. kinda like the ask gemini browser thing in the top bar. It won't analyze certain sensitive, or explicit material) So, after a few different sites, I got it to work, but the few dead sites was my First flag. -Then It took me just a second to figure out the pixels and speed, which is kinda confusing to really understand without just testing different numbers.(flag) Why measure it in milliseconds? i'm not sure about other peoples perspective on time with the very tiny, naked to the eye, 1 pixel-ms ratio. (flag) What they suggested is probably the best options-either 5 pixels at 25ms which is (rather quick) or 1 pixel every 30ms for a slow smooth scroll. Do I go up in pixels or just in time 5p-30ms? 5p-35ms? 10p-20ms?. I don't want to do this. -You can set a default otherwise it will revert back to their default 5P-25ms Inconvenient loop controlling -After you activate it, you have to click out of the little window, then go back in to get it to stop, otherwise it will scroll until it finds the bottom. I noticed at the bottom of their description in there update notes after the fact that they added a keyboard hot key for pausing and resuming ALT+J. -If you have the loop box checked, your page will auto bounce back to the top and keep going until you go back into the extension window. However. If you use the ALT+J to pause or resume, it will cease your loop and no longer bounce to the top until you reactivate it again via the extension, NOT the hot key. The hot key will stop the loop. If you resume with the hot key it will not loop. Additionally, If you are on a page that keeps loading more the closer you get to the bottom, you will infinitely keep loading more and more content until you stop it. if it reaches the bottom before it loads it will stop and go again after it's done loading until you manually stop it. Even with the loop it just waited for more to load, rather than bounce back. Not Necessarily bad with the added pause and go Key. Conclusion -I just felt I would be more frustrated and annoyed by it more than it would be helpful and it was apparent real quick that it's not gonna work a lot. I have no use for it, really with a mouse with a scroll wheel. Maybe i'm a skeptic but I have a hard time believing this extension doesn't collect all data you have to permit to use it. last update in 23? this ext. sucks.✌️ Which brings me to my last point, suggestions for the devs. - Most devices have settings for a mouse, with scroll settings will that let you fine tune how many "lines" you skip per 1 notch. I have mine set to skip 2 lines per notch. which, is pretty simple to understand. with the auto-scroll feature by clicking the wheel, it's a little more nuanced with your mouse placement and where you have your cursor. point is, Maybe instead of using a hard to comprehend how many pixels per millisecond to render, you can use "lines" per second or even ms as a base for measurement. - Have the auto scroll stop by either clicking somewhere/anywhere, or have it stop when the scroll wheel is activated, rather than having to Alt+J, or go back into the extension to pause. Not everyone will want to have the extension cluttering their toolbar. Major annoyance for me before I realized the hotkey, Which should be placed up in the top portion of your details, not at the bottom of your patch notes.

- work well with me, great.

- Doesn't work at all. Incredible.

- One of my favorite extensions I use for a number of different things. My only suggestion would be to add function "start autoscroll on page refresh" or to be able to set a page refresh and the autoscroll then restarts automatically.
- Nanhe
- not work, the hint is "Unable to connect to the active tab. If this is a non-chrome tab, refreshing the tab might resolve the issue."
- Richard Brown
- Doesn't seem to work in Google Docs when open in Chrome.
- Raay Jabrial
- Easier interface. A speed variation menu would be great, rest is good, well appreciated.

- I wanted to get to the bottom of Tumblr comics quick so I could read for a while, and I looked for an autoscroller, (and no, the em dash is not from me usig chatgpt) and i found this‒ and IT WORKS. so well. i have to wait only a minute or two, and that's just for it loading! once you learn how to use it, it's awesome!

- It doesn't work. Maybe I dont know how it works, Needs for instructions
- Chop Swords (chopswords)
- It's okay. There's no end-user-obvious way to stop auto-scrolling. It does so when you click the button, but that's not intuitive. Plus, when you set as default, it does not set as default. That button does not work at all.

- literally doesnt work lol (linuxfedora)
- Not_Default
- dont know how to use sadly (needs more instructions)

- Super simple and easy to use. I had it working in 2 seconds. I used Quickflip for a webpage on a teleprompter, set the scroll amount to -1 to scroll backward, and it worked flawlessly.
- bavel ibrahim

- I wish there was a shortcut to turn it on and off
- James leon
- Excellent tool, but can you please fix the bug of having to click "save as default" two times to disable autoscroll? clicking it one time don't stop it...

- Ihor S
- Very helpful app!
- 吉富昭仁
- great!

- It kind of works... I got this as I thought it would be good for scrolling by the pile of comments on YouTube and other sites, but as soon as the page tries to load more, it scrolls to the top of the page, making it slower than if I just held page down. It seems good for reading though, just sucks that it doesn't wait for stuff to load instead of scrolling from the beginning again.
- sophora
- perfect for reading manga when im feeling especially lazy or eating. lol. good for scrolling quickly in general. works as says
- Mantas
- Works well for big youtube playlists so you can ctrl+f to search through them...
- Goofbread
- Good app. Simple, easy to understand. However, it does not work on the one site I need it to, and that is Discord. If you could make it compatible with the web-browser version of Discord, I would be very thankful.

- Sunshine Guimary
- the best one I have! but question will it continue to scroll even if u switch to another tab or window? I did some testing and they stop when you switch different tabs, is it supposed to be like that?
- girlygirl 9983
- The best auto scroller, I've tried most of them on Chrome Store. You can easily set how fast you want it to scroll down the page if you have a long article or photo album you're going through. Been using for months and has not failed me yet. Thank you!
- Ibrahim Essam
- Works great, thank you!!
- Maan Fahad
- it's great but why i can't add negative on the par to scroll up it only allows me to input numbers
- Ahmad Iftikhar
- Can I use it to scroll up?
- Yusuf Nasrul
- Works Well simple but usefull
- Jun Tian
- It works perfectly! I need to load a very long page daily to download some data. The page uses infinite scrolling, which requires me to manually scroll to the bottom of the page to trigger the loading of additional content. This process is extremely time-consuming. Now, with the extension, I can completely automate the process. It's a very useful tool!
- CY Lachita
- Can you add a option to auto start, no need to click on go button. Just active and start.
- raine
- Absolutely love this extension! I can't really focus on things and tend to either read novels or comics while doing something else with my hands. So when I found this extension online, I immediately fell in love 💞 Hands down my best chrome extension and makes reading comics/manga/manhwa/whatever you wanna call it 100x better!

- like everyone else this was perfect until the recent update. installed so i can scroll thru youtube channels after YT (stupidly!) removed the ability to sort by oldest upload, but i ended up using it on all sorts of other sites too. i've come to rely on it! but now it won't turn off when i re-click the icon, forcing me to reload the webpage... which scrolls me back to the top. please address this (and the weird permissions issue too). update (4 May): this was working for about a week, now it's busted again. getting some weird vertical text upon pressing GO. can't tell what it says. did we scare away the app developer? :(
