Description from extension meta

Quickly resolve digital object identifiers to their web destinations

Image from store DOI Resolver
Description from store Use this extension to quickly resolve DOI and ShortDOI codes via any one of several methods: extension button, right-click on selected text, or omnibox with keyword: doi. DOI Resolver packs some great additional features, too: 1) Generate QR codes which can be scanned by smartphones to share a publication 2) Automatically convert DOI codes on web pages into links (optional) 3) Specify your own DOI resolver URL (useful if your institution provides a proxy service) 4) Generate formatted citations for publications 5) Maintain a history of viewed DOIs No user data is collected by this extension and no information is sent back to the author. This is an open source project. https://github.com/mdmower/doi-resolver Omnibox usage: Type doi and press the space key. Now you can input a DOI code and press enter to retrieve the web destination.

  • (2021-10-08) Nick Porter: Very well done. I've been using it for about 10 minutes now and haven't encountered a bug, which is more than I can say for most of my own code. It's such a simple thing but it streamlines the research process so much.
  • (2020-07-21) Mauricio Maluff Masi: This extension probably saves me about a day each year in time looking for articles in my university's library website.
  • (2020-01-31) MaryAnn Strawhacker: Excellent citation generator with very few adjustments for APA 6! When is version APA 7 available in this extension?
  • (2018-04-05) Jitte Groothuis: Works like a charm, except that I feel that the extension should know to ignore e.g. "DOI: " in front of a DOI. Such text is often selected automatically when using double-click to select the DOI (easier than dragging the cursor, where it's easy to miss the first or last character). [Edit: upgraded to 5 stars after implementation of suggestion!]
  • (2017-02-27) Viktor Nilsson: I see that you've recently added automatic stripping of DOI: but it does not seem to be case-insensitive for me... (works when changed to lowercase, not when changed back to uppercase) I would prefer if it could work using the address bar instead, but I see why it's not possible. Right now, it's likely as fast to google the string and hit first result.
  • (2017-02-15) Alexander Zintler: Thanks so much, this extension is so useful while searching for literature.
  • (2015-08-04) Gareth Thomas: Excellent extension. Being able to simply click on a DOI to be taken to the document makes life that much simpler, let alone the other functionality. It even works on DOIs within PDF documents.
  • (2015-05-26) Leonardo Romero: Muy bueno
  • (2013-09-18) Alex Waters: Does almost everything I had custom implemented in Firefox - and then some! Custom doi url is perfect for my uni proxy + omnibox doi = straight to full (logged-in) texts! (one less thing holding me to Firefox use) The citation generation is helpful on occasion (but doesn't always work depending on the style selected) - though I usually use EndNote for that anyway. The ("and then some") right-click (context menu) to Google search or "resolve" is also nice, but the auto linkifying is what makes this extension truly perfect! (edited: had to restart browser for the linkifying to work properly)
  • (2012-09-06) François Lapointe: Very useful! Would it be possible to turn a DOI in text into a clickable link?
  • (2012-05-13) Andrew Perry: Works fine if you want an actual DOI search button that can give you metadata (XML/JSON). If you just want to resolve DOIs to find a paper, you can configure the address bar ("omnibox") to do this without an extension by right clicking on it, selecting "Edit Search Engines" and adding the keyword "doi" and the search engine "http://dx.doi.org/%s".

  • (2023-03-17, v:5.0.2) Mariusz Rozpędek: Custom citation format
I've just discovered your Chrome plugin and I'm very pleased with the capabilities that DOI Resolver provides. Do you plan to add the ability to set your own publication citation format to it? I think such a feature would be very useful.
  • (2021-12-14, v:4.1.1) Sebastian Schuster: Problem with DOI of thesis
Hello, Thank you very much for this great extension! I recently encountered the DOI "20.500.11956/34662". When I enter it at doi.org, it is resolved, but the Chrome resolver returns that it is not a valid DOI. Can DOI such as this be resolved also here, somehow? Kind regards Sebastian
  • (2019-12-12, v:4.0.3) Carl-Erik Høyum: Endnote link
Hi! I love this extention! Would it be possible to add a downloadable file for endnote in the citation generator? Carl from Norway(:
