Don't block the internet, use it with Intent.

Description from store It's becoming clear: the Internet is making us unhappy.* Seemingly innocent distractions turn into large, unintended time drains. We face regret in how we spend our time on the web. And ad-based internet companies are only making this worse.† So we built Intent. We use your browsing habits to build a plan that helps you spend less time on distracting sites. We don't try to block the internet and we don't guilt you for using sites you enjoy. Instead, we help you understand how you use the internet, how much happiness your usage brings, and how your time trades off against other activities. With Intent you'll build a habit of online awareness -- awareness of how you spend time online, of when you have the desire to spend time online, and of what drives that desire. Intent aims to empower you to take back control of your relationship with technology. Start browsing with Intent now! * See https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/get-out-your-mind/201409/the-unexpected-way-new-technology-makes-us-unhappy † See timewellspent.io

  • (2020-10-08) Frank: Not working for me? All I see is the Welcome page saying "Preparing content..." When I look at my extensions, it says that the extension is requesting access and "To give an extension access to this site, click it" When I click it, it takes me to the index url but it's completely blank.
  • (2020-03-25) Neslihan Ozdemir: Yes!! Love it!
  • (2020-03-09) Giovanni Castro: Excellent extension for mindful browsing of the internet
  • (2020-03-02) Pooja Nanda: Must use extension for managing distraction on web browsers. Has helped me identify areas where I spend too much time like social sites etc. It helps you to set intentions like how much do you want to spend time on sites like maybe Netflix. Slowly makes you realize things! Best approach. As it has been said - "Give someone a fish. They can fill their stomach for once or twice. Teach someone to catch a fish , you help them to feed themselves for lifetime!" Thanks to the makers!
  • (2019-07-24) Taras Kuzyk: Helped me understand were all of my time was disappearing. Lovely app, simple and easy to use.
  • (2019-07-22) Katherine Slattery: This extension works great.
  • (2019-07-10) Michaela Hutfles: My usage pattern is a little odd (lots of "other" time) so I'm looking forward to watching the app grow. I love how it asks you if you'd like to remove items that you're not really looking at or are your highest usage in case they are, you know, PART of your job. I would really love to be able to install in multiple machines (home, work, phone) and compare platform usages. Or in total.
  • (2019-07-01) Arthur Hurnell: A great extension! Thanks guys.
  • (2019-06-02) Nikolaos Libero: Does not load. Endlessly Preparing content...

  • (2018-06-22) Sam Stowers: The app goes a step beyond simple time tracking (which it does well) and gives simple, non-invasive solutions to reduce the amount of time you spend on distracting things (should you want it). It's simple, powerful, and effective - highly recommended for anyone looking to improve the way they use the internet.
  • (2018-06-11) Shan Vrolijk: It is perfect
  • (2018-06-06) Marcin Czarkowski: So much value for free. Awesome.
  • (2018-03-14) Chris Aldersley: This is the first app I've reviewed cos its the best app ever. This app seems to track your time accurately (unlike other apps I've tried) and shows the data in a meaningful, non obtrusive way. The weekly review is great, gets you to reflect on your internet usage, and gives practical methods/tools to help reduce your time and adjust your habits.
  • (2018-02-22) Love it.
  • (2018-02-21) Malcolm Ocean: I really like nuanced tech, and this is it. I used to favor the hard approach of something like StayFocusd, but I've lately found that that can just create weird incentives and reinforce existing internal tensions. Intent helps me untangle my internal conflicts around my internet usage.
  • (2018-02-13) James Chou: I always scoff at the idea that internet addiction can even be a thing, much less something I myself have succumbed to, but the truth of the matter is, when I'm spending 7 hours a day on the computer with a decent chunk of it being mindless, I'm addicted. Intent has been the first step towards helping me become more aware of how I browse so I can choose to be more proactive my time spent online going forward. Thank you Kevin for the Elephant in the Brain, Melting Asphalt, and now, Intent.
  • (2018-02-12) Paul Watson: It works. The reviews are helpful to spot bad patterns and the tips and tools give you a nudge when you are not paying attention.
  • (2017-12-28) Santhosh Guru: Made me aware of my browsing habits in a manner, that I can take an action about it. Not very intrusive but in a thoughtful, gentle manner.
  • (2017-12-20) Nicholas 'UltimApe' Perry: Helpful in curbing many habits I have over using certain sites that, while useful at first, have since become a negative aspect of my life. I appreciate how this app presents itself as respectful of my time and helps guide me toward various features. I could see something like this just giving me all the tools upfront and throwing me into the deep end. But instead I actually feel like it's trying to be actively helpful in my goals. I'm very thankful.
  • (2017-12-12) Edwin: A fantastic tool to make one aware of the mindless drifts into the internet. The nice weekly statistics, useful tools and general wholesome theme make for a magnificent extention which makes a real difference.
  • (2017-12-11) Huan Nguyen: Subtle and useful. Good idea, great execution.
  • (2017-12-08) Sonya Mann: Very low-key, in a good way. Helps me be aware of how I'm spending time online, but without the feeling of being nagged. The makers are very responsive, which is awesome.
  • (2017-11-26) Dimitris Vainas: Helped me regain my time and attention on the web. I used to spend hours and hours on FB and YT thinking "just 5min more" or "just one more video". Intent helped me realize that these were 20+ hrs of my life, every week. I'd rather have that time add up towards something more meaningful, like training, reading, or being together with my dog or girlfriend.
  • (2017-11-06) M: I've only used it for one week and so far so good!
  • (2017-11-02) Razmik Badalyan: I use Facebook for personal staff as well as for work (different groups & pages). It would helpful to able to distinguish those when putting in categories.
  • (2017-10-25) William Minshew: This quickly became my favorite extension. Very simple / clean interface gives you a small timer in the corner just so you know how long you're spending on distractions, but never interrupts you or nags you.
  • (2017-10-24) Sondre Rasch: Very enjoyable, useful and helpful. Love the comforting text.
