Crackbook Revival is an open source fork/modification of the original Crackbook extension by Gintautas Miliauskas (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/crackbook/nbgjmohekjolcgemlolblankocjlgalf)
This is a Chrome extension for discouraging use of attention-sucking
websites such as Facebook or Reddit. The idea behind Crackbook is that delaying
access to the website is more effective than straight blocking because you
are less likely to just disable the block after a while.
The extension will delay every hit to blacklisted site. The delay is just
a few seconds initially, but it increases slightly on every hit.
Revival Changes:
- Removed attempted reporting of anonymous usage data (which wasn't working anyway due to original site being offline).
- Delay timer resets on specified intervals (which was already in the original repository but was not published on the store).
- Hide scrollbars until the content is revealed.
- Some fixes for the history graph.
- Some fixes for the options interface.
- Add option to use a blurred overlay - courtesy of @prettymuchbryce
- Pause video and audio in the background - courtesy of @nickwb
- Other minor fixes.

- (2023-10-08) It used to be good. When i downloaded it last year, it could block the junk sites for more than 60 seconds. But as of now it isn't working. It's just working to block the browser for 10 seconds. Please help with this issue
- (2021-04-30) Ca no: just helps you if you procrastinate
- (2021-04-05) Gusts Mūrnieks: It really works! I use it with "MAD - Mindful Anti Distraction" addon- they work hand in hand. When you get passed one barrier, there is another!
- (2021-01-31) Varish Persaud: It seems good (haven't tried it for more than a couple of times), but there are websites that I want to block to VARYING DEGREES- as some websites I only want to check e.g. 5 times a day and others not at all, so it's hard to find a balance between these different aspects.
- (2021-01-19) Space Clottey: Fabulous extension. Thanks
- (2020-04-16) Ильяс Джаббаров (Квей): At each start, the settings are reset, it is impossible to use. Everything else is good
- (2020-04-16) Trevor Olsen: In the first day of installation, this app has already probably saved me half an hour or more. Thank you so much!
- (2020-02-21) Parikshit Misra: Works as advertised. Noticed a google reader easter egg that makes me sad.
- (2020-02-17) Thameera Senanayaka: I use Freedom app, but this extension is better since I don't have to specifically start a session and does not completely block the site either. Exactly what I needed to break the addictions. Thanks!
- (2020-02-14) Harold Cooper: This is great! I've tried completely blocking addictive sites before, but I would always end up turning the blocking off sooner or later, whereas this more subtle annoyance feels like it will gradually wean me off in a much more effective way.
- (2019-10-07) George Kolasa: Love this app, thank you man
- (2018-11-05) Enormous 7174: No Incognito mode support?
- (2018-09-10) Joseph Osgood: I love the idea behind crackbook, but... without the ability to "lock" the settings (maybe with a time delay or something), I find myself simply removing websites from the "junk site" list, rendering the extension useless...
- (2017-09-12) Tyler Casselman: How do you remove domains from your list? I accidentally added some I don't want to block.
- (2017-08-01) Daniel: Useful and innovative idea. Far more effective than other productivity apps that only block. Wish something could be made for distracting apps on phones as well. Highly recommend.
- (2017-07-21) julie: it's okay, works better for me than other productivity extensions like stayfocused. but why can it only handle 13 domains? is there any way you could make it delay more of them? thanks a bunch.
