• (2023-08-20) Sam Khoury: I was a big fan of RetailMeNot until I had a situation in the past few days with this browser extension hijacking my shopping session from another cash back site. I was on the RMN site and used their cash back link to direct me to hotels dot com but before making a purchase I checked another cash back site and it was offering a lot more cash back so I used their link to direct me to hotels dot com to make the purchase. Since I clicked the hotels dot com cash back link from the other site AFTER clicking the RMN cash back link, I expected the other site to earn the commission for my purchase and pay me their higher cash back rate. Instead, RMN essentially hijacked my shopping session on hotels dot com with this extension so they got the commission and paid me their much lower cash back rate, costing me over $60 in cash back. If people use multiple cash back sites like I do then I don't recommend using this extension.

Not sure how to use it in these situations, it will not remain signed into my account.

If I search the store using the search option IN the extension the store pops up with "Cashback + 4 codes". I've asked support in the past and got no answers.

Such as, when I go to sign-in to my Square dashboard, I don't need this popping up with some random store's discount codes, it's totally irrelevant and downright annoying. Please allow me to disable sites that I don't want it to check for.

(Sometimes they come back and say no codes worked.) I saved $12 just now on a KiwiCo subscription. Love it.

• (2022-10-06) Matt Rankin: The RetailMeNot extension opened up while I was in the checkout screen at a shoe website. I clicked the button to find coupon codes and after about 5-10 seconds, a coupon code was automatically applied and my checkout balance changed from $139 to $97.30. But, when I got to the final checkout page, there was a notification that "discount code isn’t available to you right now". and the total was back up to $139. So, seems like RetailMeNot does find actual codes, but doesn't make efforts to determine whether they are current. I did go into retailmenot to give a thumbs down on the found code, but it would not let me rate the code. altogether, including writing this review that I was prompted for, it seems that retailmenot just wasted about 3 minutes of my personal time, and I got nothing.

It searches every available code for whatever website you're using, and usually, it'll save you at least a few bucks and may even find you offers for cash back. Highly recommend!

• (2022-03-15) Jeff State: RMT's extension has some of the quickest and best coupon codes. I've been using their retailmenot.com site as my primary source of store coupons from before there were Chrome extensions for searching codes and deals. Like some other extensions, however, they need to allow their popup tips to be snoozed or inactivated. When coupons are found on each online storefront, the RetailMeNot extension currently interrupts browsing with a big popup tip window that lists off coupons. The UI needs to have an option for users to snooze/disable the popup tip, by merchant site, or altogether. We get it. RetailMeNot has a plethora of discount codes, but it's an exception when there aren't any RMT codes for a storefront. That means almost every online store causes the extension to interrupt the user with an alert that codes were found. Many of the popup alert's codes are inevitably expired, retired by excessive public usage, or not applicable to the user's shopping trip. This means that the popup list gets disregarded for a more streamlined experience. A better use of the extension is to simply check the "R" icon's badge counter, and then allow it to run through its codes DB, while the store's cart (and promo code field) are active. Too many other shopping-related extensions interrupt users' browsing sessions with popups, but RetailMeNot can evolve. The badge counter is the best indication for codes, not persistent popup alerts. The badge counter stays updated and the R icon gets clicked to expand, when the user chooses that he/she wants that info.

The *one thing* that I really, REALLY don't like is how RMN somehow pops up in the middle of whatever I'm doing (where I feel Honey & Capital One do not; perhaps their presence is just not nearly as intrusive). Honestly, if I hadn't found some good savings with RMN, it would be long gone. Drives me absolutely batsh*t. ...But the deals I've gotten (on things I was already looking to purchase) are great! Fix the pop-up in the middle of my screen, and I'd happily go 5 stars!

Dominos has a $5.99 each deal and the extension somehow changed the price to more than $12 each and then changed it back to imply that RMN saved me $6 for each pizza. Um...no. The "Deal" is available to everyone. Also, I'd say 90% of the coupon codes RMN found did not work on the sites where they were provided. Has RMN saved me money? Possibly, but the misses are far more frequent than the hits.

However, it needs an option to disable the automatic popups that cover up the page when I'm just browsing. The popups are annoying and tempt me to disable the extension and only enable it when I'm ready to check out.
