UltraWideo
The cross-browser extension that manipulates video aspect ratio to fit your entire screen.
Introduction
Proven to be working on all major video streaming platforms. If it doesn't work for you, it could be a OS related bug. I am using macOS and before I make claims, I thoroughly test it through all major browsers.
Features
The only extension on the market with functionalities that no other extension in this category possess.
▸ Blazingly fast — injection script that manipulates the video is written in plain JavaScript, has tiny footprint and is very fast.
▸ Limitless platforms — not limited to any specific video streaming platform. Aims to work everywhere, including embeddable videos.
▸ Minimal interface — thoughtful design that doesn't get in your way, but provides you with all the necessary options to get the experience you deserve.
▸ Appearance — automatically applies the appearance that you are using as your system preference. If your system is in dark mode, the extension will be too. Can be modified manually as well.
▸ Cross-browser — available for all major browsers and tested on Chrome & Firefox. It works in all Chromium and Gecko based browsers as well.
▸ Internationalization — supports handful of languages, but aiming to support all major languages.
▸ Keyboard shortcuts — customizable within the browser to avoid conflicts with other extensions.
▸ Magic touch — Toggle between the modes with built-in pinch inwards/outwards on touch screens, trackpads with multi-touch gestures and mouse wheel while holding CTRL key.
Pro Features
By upgrading to UltraWideo Pro, you are supporting future development and unlocking additional features is just a bonus! You will also receive a Pro badge within the extension's interface and your requests on GitHub repository will have high priority.
▸ Magnetic Helper – Want the extension to work outside of the fullscreen? You can now attach an instance of UltraWideo to the video player that you select with this feature. If it can find the video player within the bounds that you selected, it will just work immediately.
▸ Accent Color – Personalize your UltraWideo interface with a custom color scheme. Choose from 8 carefully selected accent colors or stick with the original theme. The selected color will be applied throughout the extension's interface, giving it a unique look that matches your style.
▸ Disabled Mode – Streamline your workflow by disabling a mode you rarely use. This optimization allows for faster switching between your preferred modes using keyboard shortcuts or touch gestures. Perfect for users who have specific viewing preferences and want a more efficient way to access their favorite features.
▸ Consents – Take control of your notification preferences with granular consent settings. Choose which system messages you want to receive, from changelog updates to review reminders. This ensures you stay informed about important updates while avoiding unnecessary interruptions during your video watching sessions.
▸ Ambient Light – Enhance your viewing experience with a sophisticated ambient light effect that creates a more immersive atmosphere. This feature adds a premium feel to your video playback, particularly beneficial for videos where you may choose to keep the original aspect ratio. The blur effect also helps protect OLED displays from uneven burn-in issues.
Purpose
Gain power over the video in fullscreen mode. Primarily developed for 34" ultra-wide screens, but powerful for other smaller or larger screens too. I am currently using it on my Macbook Pro 14" to get rid of all black bars (horizontally and vertically), previously I used it on ultra-wide monitor.
Usage
Relatively easy to use, but powerful at its core. Comes with handful of options within small interface and keyboard shortcuts.
▸ Interface – Popup interface that you usually open by clicking on the extension icon, has built-in shortcut to toggle it for an easy access at your fingertips.
▸ Activity – This option will be enabled by default. To deactivate the features that it applies to the video element, toggle the switch.
▸ Mode – Upscale mode will be enabled by default and only one mode can be active at a time.
▸ Scale – It works simultaneously with the active mode and can scale the video up or down. The default value is 1 and it means that no scaling will be applied.
Claims
It is working on all globally popular video streaming platforms. Including all embeddable videos. If it doesn't work somewhere, open up a ticket on the support link that's provided (Github Issues) and I'll try to fix it for you and everybody else.

Great extension.
Full Wild with Disney+ = non more subtitle :(
Tiny extension with a massive impact on my viewing experience. Super impressed
Everything works as promised. Minimal interface, fast performance, and customizable shortcuts. My only request is adding more languages for international users
Honestly surprised at how smooth and lightweight this is. It's like the video was meant to be full screen.
I love how this extension works flawlessly across all video streaming platforms!
I can use my whole screen. Huge thanks!
Would be nice if the extension remembered the last used mode per site.
Good Job!
works so well
Tried 3 other extensions before this none came close.
It’s rare to find an extension this well thought out. Nothing is overdone, and everything serves a purpose.
The toggle gesture with CTRL + mouse wheel is pure magic—feels intuitive.
Honestly impressed by this tool
Good!
Performance is excellent
The pinch-to-zoom feature on my trackpad is genius.
This solves a surprisingly annoying problem in a very elegant way. The keyboard shortcuts are intuitive and customizable, which helps me a lot as I use many extensions.
Makes YouTube look cinema-like.
As a video editor, I'm constantly viewing content in non-standard formats, and this extension makes previewing content on my ultrawide much more bearable.
I was skeptical, but this actually works better than some desktop apps I’ve tried.
The scaling slider is a nice touch subtle control over video size without needing to dig into advanced settings
Doesn’t mess with the native video player UI. Huge plus.
I appreciate the granular control over notifications. Not all devs let you silence changelogs.
Took me a few minutes to figure out, but once I did wow, it’s perfect.
This solves a surprisingly annoying problem in a very elegant way. The keyboard shortcuts are intuitive and customizable, which helps me a lot as I use many extensions.
As someone who watches a lot of videos for work, this saves me time and eye strain.
Noticed the ambient light feature recently. It’s subtle but makes a difference. brilliant tools
Works great across Chrome and Firefox. No issues switching between browsers.
Honestly impressed by how fast it works. Zero lag when toggling aspect ratios.
was using a different app for youtube but i started looking for an extension that would work on other sites and i came across this app and it works flawless. i dont have to do anything. works on every site i use for video which is amazing
Great app
This extension is a lifesaver for ultrawide users. Makes full use of my screen real estate. Thanks
Exactly what I needed. I use this on my MacBook Pro and it handles every streaming site I throw at it.
As someone who watches a lot of embedded video content across various sites, this extension is exactly what I needed. The UI is minimal but smart, and the performance is blazing fast. I’m impressed by how seamlessly it adapts to dark mode and supports my browser shortcuts. The Pro features are worth every cent especially the ambient light effect. It adds a nice immersive touch.
I upgraded to Pro mainly to support the dev, but wow Accent Color and Ambient Light blew me away. Makes my setup feel polished and premium. You can tell this is made by someone who really cares.
Finally, something that takes full advantage of my 34-inch ultra-wide display!
This is the only extension I’ve found that actually works reliably across multiple browsers (Chrome and Firefox in my case) and platforms. The developer clearly put a lot of thought into its design it's not just about stretching the video; it's about maintaining quality and providing control.
Great job on internationalization – works fine in my native language.
This extension is incredibly lightweight and fast. The injection script is written in pure JavaScript, so it doesn’t slow down my browser or interfere with page loading. The keyboard shortcuts are customizable, and the gesture controls make it a joy to use on my MacBook’s trackpad. It’s one of those tools you don’t realize you needed until you try it.
The interface is clean and minimal, yet the extension gives me full control over how I view videos. The keyboard shortcuts are super helpful, and I love how it adapts to my dark mode automatically. 10/10
Nice extension. A shame about the watermark, but you can remove that pretty easily. What a world we live in, where media distribution giants have the worst video players. They're so bad that we have to purchase 3rd party applications to just ... gasp .... fullscreen a video.
Really love this extension, it's perfect for my OLED UW screen. But the recent addition of the obnoxious watermark is in poor taste. I've thought about supporting, but now being forced to do it just to get rid of the watermark really adds to my disappointment.
UltraWideo is/has been an excellent extension, but the latest update introduces a questionable subscription model. The additional features on offer struggle to justify $30/year, and the introduction of a watermark for free users is sure to disappoint devoted fans. It's an unusual move from an otherwise rational developer. I expect an increasingly poor reception to these changes as time goes on.
This is an amazing extension, but please remove the logo from the bottom corner of the screen. Thanks
please remove the box in the center of screen after use hotkey to resize video. it small but annoying
Doesn't work at all for YouTube with Edge
i use the free version on a regular 16:9 monitor to get rid of the black bars caused by all the different aspect ratios we get these days on youtube and other streaming platforms. it works great for me and i've been using it for quite some time. thank you and good job!
Why did u give us an ambient light and then take it back? even if it is a paid feature you shouldn't just give it and take it back. that's disappointing.
Improved in version 3.4.3 thanks
