Description from store [[ Abandoned project / open to contributions ]] There has been ages that I don't work in companies that send nasty emails which need fixing by this extension, and thus I stopped following the Gmail changes. Every now and then, someone sends an email with an issue, which unfortunately I don't have the time or will to fix. However, I'm still open to Pull Requests in the project's GitHub repo, so feel free to collaborate! [[ Description ]] Ever complained about the horizontal scrolling that large images create on Gmail messages? Like those screenshots your client sent you, or a fancy signature that's cool for their widescreen monitors, but not for your windowed view? This is a small extension that adds a slight rule so inline images will always fit in the message body. No need to keep scrolling back and forth to read any paragraph. Gmail already provides a lightbox with an enlarged view of pictures, so you can use it as usual to view the complete image :)

  • (2023-07-30) Erik Schluntz: You sir are a hero. Still works for me on windows
  • (2023-06-30) Bart: Works fine, but an annoying side effect is that it makes emojis comically large. If I communicated with frequent emoji users I'd likely remove the extension, as I don't receive enough messages with oversized inline images to make it worth dealing with 40mm wide emojis.
  • (2023-02-09) Music Lab Folsom: Just WOW! This has been plaguing me for years. So nice to be able to read all the text. Thank you!
  • (2023-02-01) J H: Sadly doesn't work. My colleague on a MAC/Chrome does not have this same issue looking at the same email with large images; her desktop shrinks the images automatically. I was hoping this would fix the issue for my on a PC.
  • (2023-01-06) Reed Albergotti: Doesn't do anything
  • (2022-12-01) Igor Kozarchuk: It works! Can't believe this issue exists for years without native fix by Google.
  • (2022-10-21) Dan Harper: Used to work phenomenally, was one of my best add-ons, now it doesn't work at all.
  • (2022-09-30) Jesper Bevensee Jensen: Used to work - now it doesn't. Absolutely HATE(!) Google for not just fixing this stupid issue. "Dear" Google, why are you so arrogant?
  • (2022-05-31) Jeff P: Tried this. It did not work.
  • (2022-05-17) David B: Completely useless, has no effect whatsoever.
  • (2022-05-11) Luis Salas Lastra: Godammit! THANK YOU!!!!!! I work with LARGE images ALL the time (freelance artist) and this was driving me nuts!. I looked for months and months probably years, and didn't find a solution until today. I'm in a windows 10 pc by the way.
  • (2022-05-05) Brion Keagle: As far as I can tell, this extension does absolutely nothing. I'm still scrolling side to side like crazy, just as much as I did before installing the extension.
  • (2022-04-25) Philip Goetz: Thank you, Igor, for this very helpful little extension. It has stopped working now, otherwise I'd leave 5 stars. I appreciated it while it lasted.
  • (2022-02-18) Nicolas Compain: Merci !!! Quel soulagement :)
  • (2022-02-17) Kaleb Rabe: Doesn't do what it's supposed to, so I still have to scroll horizontally for large images in Gmail.
  • (2022-01-20) Karl Hammerschmidt: Amazing extension. Should be default in Gmail. Only one issue which has forced me to disable it... it makes emojis HUGE. Link to Reddit discussion here. Please let us know when this bug has been fixed
  • (2021-12-28) FLCPCA SPIEL: You're telling me all this time, all I needed was this extension? Why doesn't Google include this natively???
  • (2021-12-16) Carson Stark: Doesn't work
  • (2021-12-16) Felipe Van Cauwelaert: simple y util
  • (2021-10-29) AxioWorks Ltd: A must have! Works perfectly, thank you.
  • (2021-10-13) Dario Ciprut: Excellent. Long irritation in front of mails imbedding overdimensioned images solved. Works under Brave and probably other chromium based browsers.
  • (2021-09-29) Mark DeJesus: Relief! Thank you so much. This should be included in gmail. Makes a big difference in reading through longer emails and ones that have attachments.
  • (2021-09-13) Tom H: For the love of god why is this not already a part of Gmail? Using the side panel for previews is such a pain because if the image is larger than the panel you have to scroll over to find the reply button. This makes the images dynamic and shrinks them to fit. Simple and easy. Thank you!
  • (2021-05-27) Pol Rue: It worked on some images, but not on all...
  • (2021-05-13) Ed Rooney: This extension should be removed as it does not work.
  • (2021-04-08) Aleksey Voznesenski: Awesome! it works, even in vivaldi! how is this still not normal behaviour in gmail is beyond me.. it's been many many years..
  • (2021-03-30) Callan Crawford: Not working at all
  • (2021-03-05) Jonathan Aplansius: Not working at all
  • (2021-01-22) Jeremy Yocum: This extension does nothing. At all. It has no effect at all. What it's supposed to do would be AMAZING! It's something I desperately, desperately need. But this extension does not do it. In fact it does nothing at all.
  • (2020-12-02) Don Schmitt: No longer working :-(
  • (2020-11-13) Adam Frey: I need an extension that does what this one says it will do, but I installed it in my new MacBook Air and it didn't have any effect. I still have to scroll very far left and right to read some emails in gmail.
  • (2020-10-20) Eric Seastrand: Exactly what I was looking for. Appalled I have to install an extension (C'mon Gmail, why isn't this built in?) but I'm happy this extension exists. Thank you for making it!
  • (2020-09-06) Jay Cack: Extension not working. Here's a solution that works for me: Install Stylus: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylus/clngdbkpkpeebahjckkjfobafhncgmne?hl=en Use this style rule on domain mail.google.com .h7 img { max-width: 95%; height: auto; object-fit: contain; }
  • (2020-09-02) Eric Peltzer: Works well in Edge (Sept 2020). However when printing a message, the photo is still way too large. At any rate, a big relief, though it's astonishing Gmail still can't handle inline photos intelligently in 2020. Thank you dev.
  • (2020-08-26) Josh Goldberg: no longer works.
  • (2020-08-11) Kyle Drayton: Can't believe this isn't implemented in GMail. Works perfectly, thanks!
  • (2020-07-04) Ari: makes the show details arrow in gmail vanish
  • (2020-07-01) Dmitry Astapkovich: I love this extension ... except it seems like it doesn't work any longer =( Did Google change something on the end you need to support?
  • (2020-02-10) Natalie Keller Lysne: Thank you. I no longer feel the need to strangle senders of giant images.
  • (2020-02-04) Austin Allgaier: The extension is awesome with one exception: It hides the little down arrow that is found in the header of each email. So i can choose between seeing images without side scrolling or zooming way out; or i can see the details of the sender of an email (which, unfortunately, I need to do constantly for my job.) Once that bug is worked out, then its 5 stars.
  • (2020-01-21) Valerie Deane: This extension was awesome when it worked (seriously, why doesn't Gmail do this? I hate side-scrolling!), but within the past couple months, it no longer does. In fact, it's even worse than that - ever since it stopped working, it does the opposite, and causes many images to appear larger! Left a support note four weeks ago, but it seems the developer is AWOL. I'm removing it.
  • (2019-12-17) Doug Davis: This worked perfectly!!! Thank you! Most of the time, images people send fit within the Gmail window, but every so often, I get photos that are just ginormous, and I have to scroll right and left to see it all, or I do a CTRL/CMD - Minus to make *everything* smaller till I can see the whole picture, and then have to make everything the right size again, after. This extension works a treat! I like that I can use it "on demand" and only invoke it when I click on the extension.
  • (2019-10-29) Raymon Ohmori: How is this not the Gmail default? I was about to pull my hair out trying to read emails from my client. This extension is a lifesaver.
  • (2019-10-07) Rom Po: Works! Time saver! Productivity booster! Horizontal-scroll destroyer!
  • (2019-10-03) Marian Sasso: This just works exactly as it is supposed to without doing other crazy things. THANK YOU.
  • (2019-09-18) Luke Talltree: Hallelujah!!!
  • (2019-09-05) Kyle Hall: Says what it does and does what it says. perfect.
  • (2019-08-14) Mandy Krug: Works with the preview pane. Most excellent.
  • (2019-08-03) Andrey Perevodchik: It does the job! However it also affects other images – application icons and image in message editor, making it impossible to resize image when composing a message. Looking forward for the next version!
