PeopleSoft Utilities - increase usability and productivity.

Image from store PS Utilities
Description from store PS Utilities is a Google Chrome Extension for use with PeopleSoft systems. It has a number of features which will improve your effectiveness when working with PeopleSoft. Global Favorites • Create favorites for the pages you use most often. • These favorites can be accessed from all environments, unlike the delivered favorites. • You can choose to open in same window or a new tab. • Favorites can be grouped together in categories and sub-categories. PS Utilities Toolbar • This is a toolbar which is visible when on a PeopleSoft webpage. • It contains a number of features which can be turned on/off as you wish. One Click Tracing • Turn on/off PeopleCode and SQL tracing at the click of a button. This will access the built in tracing functionality that comes as part of PeopleSoft applications and will turn this on or off when the button is clicked. CTRL + J Information • Get the most important CTRL + J information by clicking an icon in the toolbar. If the PeopleSoft environment you are logged into has CTRL+J enabled, then the information you can see by clicking CTRL+J can now be access by a clicking a button in the PS Utilities toolbar - it will retrieve the most relevant information from the web page and display it on the screen. Field Inspector • Use the field inspector to find the name of records and fields behind the pages, it does this by looking at the HTML behind the PeopleSoft page and identifies the HTML tags around the fields and displays this in the PS Utilities toolbar. Search Page Features • Auto Correct History – the Correct History option will be selected on search pages by default. • Auto Advanced Search – some search pages have Basic Search by default, which means you have to click the Advanced Search button to be able to search by more parameters, this option will always bring up the Advanced Search options. New Window • Click to open another PeopleSoft window in your browser. Component pages • Some components have so many pages that you can’t see them all without scrolling through by clicking the arrow icons. • Page Tabs provides quick links to all the pages in a component from the toolbar. Environment Indicator and User ID • The name of the environment you are logged into as well as the User ID with which you are logged in will be displayed in the toolbar. • Very useful for people who work in multiple environments or log in with multiple user accounts. Privacy Policy • URLs of any PeopleSoft sites you access will be stored in your local storage. All of the information that PS Utilities displays (such as User ID) comes from the HTML of the page you are viewing, just the name and URLs of your various PeopleSoft environments are stored in local storage as described above.

  • (2021-01-06) Manikanth P: I love this and its pretty cool feature. As I mostly work out of the client's VDI machine I have a difficulty of logging to VDI and search for the respective tables or whether it's delivered or custom one but with this, I used to save a lot time and my work is done faster. But, here I have query - can someone or the developer answer to this. As I we are using to PeopleSoft confidential data is it really safe to use?

  • (2013-08-12) I find this add-on very useful. I had given up marking favourites because they were lost when moving to a new environment. Now I can easily access my favourite pages from any environment. I also particularly like being able to switch on the record/fieldname display when hovering over a field on a page.
  • (2013-07-23) Wouter de Bruin: This has great potential; well done, these two features are my favourites: - A button to show record + fieldname (similar as page information) - Always have 'correct history' on.
  • (2013-07-16) Prateek Parasar: Its kind of essential if you use PeopleSoft on regular basis.
  • (2013-07-05) I loved it. It is really useful tool. Every time you go from one project to another I had to recreate my navigation shortcuts. This allows me to not have to do that anymore! Thank you.

  • (2023-08-11, v:3.3.3) Michael Carr: Shortcuts don't work consistently
The link saved in favorites is... http://SERVER:13800/psp/DATABASE/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRPM.HRS_JO_FIND_JOB.GBL However when navigating via the menu, the URL is below. It appears to be adding a Uninav command. Is this because we are in a Portal environment? Sometimes the favorites link works and sometimes not. Usually does not work until later after I have been navigating via the native menu. http://SERVER:13800/psp/DATABASE/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRPM.HRS_JO_FIND_JOB.GBL?&cmd=uninav&Rnode=HRMS&uninavpath=Root{PORTAL_ROOT_OBJECT}.Recruiting{HC_RECRUIT_EMPLOYEE}&PORTALPARAM_PTCNAV=HC_HRS_JO_FIND_JOB_GBL&EOPP.SCNode=HRMS&EOPP.SCPortal=EMPLOYEE&EOPP.SCName=ADMN_RECRUITER_QUICK_LINKS&EOPP.SCLabel=Recruiter%20Quick%20Links&EOPP.SCPTcname=&FolderPath=PORTAL_ROOT_OBJECT.PORTAL_BASE_DATA.CO_NAVIGATION_COLLECTIONS.ADMN_RECRUITER_QUICK_LINKS.ADMN_S201112081142023207190160&IsFolder=false

  • (2022-12-31, v:3.3.2) LEON GOLDEN-NOVAK: Correct History -- Why is it "on" by default???
I find it deeply concerning that Correct History is on by default. We have had users who were carelessly in Correct History mode and inadvertently wiped out important history that must be kept for auditing/records-keeping purposes. Generally, Correct History should only be used to fix errors or adjust late transactions that can legitimately/ethically be backdated. So not for all day-to-day transactions, but just special cases. Instead, I feel that Include History should have an option and be on by default.
  • (2022-12-26, v:3.3.2) Ranjan Patro: VDI issues
Hi, From time to time, we loose all our settings on VDI. While we save it sometimes, we dont know when and why settings are lost. Can you share how we can get this in a place it wont get lost. Can we export other options like Environments. I use another utility similar to this as it allows to find fields on secondary pages, refreshes process monitor and other things.
  • (2022-12-09, v:3.3.2) Julie Gilbert: EULA for review
I need a copy of any EULA or software license agreement (SLA) for the PS Utilities extension, please.
  • (2022-11-29, v:3.3.2) Julie Gilbert: EULA question...where is it?
We would like to use your PS Utilities extension in our offices. Before we can allow our staff to use it, however, I need to review any end user license agreement (EULA) or software license agreement (SLA) to make sure my company can meet the terms and conditions. Please be so kind as to post any agreements we would be entering into with you if we use the extension.
  • (2022-10-04, v:3.3.2) Rob Weiher: PS 8.59 Fluid issue
Oh man, I love this extension but we just moved from Peopletools 8.57 classic to Peopletools 8.59 Fluid and it doesn't work anymore. Instead of showing the Page Information for the PS page it only gives the framework information and the Field Inspector doesn't highlight the page fields anymore. Not sure if I'm missing something.
  • (2022-09-30, v:3.3.2) Raymond Martin: Field inspector for pop-up/modal windows
Love, love, LOVE this tool. Absolutely indispensable for identifying records/fields on a page so I can include them in queries. A recent PeopleTools upgrade now causes many page links to go to a pop-up page. The field inspector and page information tools don't work on the pop-up window. Is there either (a) a procedure to get around this limitation; or (b) plans to update PS Utilities to work on PeopleSoft's pop-up pages?
  • (2021-06-07, v:3.3.2) Richard Allen: Browsers Beyond Chrome
The Chrome browser has been incredible for quite a while now, but is being supplanted in popularity and functionality by other browsers. Most of these newer browsers accept extensions to enhance functionality. PS Utilities is one of the greatest tools available to both functional and technical resources needing to use and support PeopleSoft! While developing PS Utilities for all browsers would be unreasonable, extending to one or two other popular browsers would be an incredible life extender of the extension. I have always recommended PS Utilities to all my clients and users. It is as much a part of PeopleSoft as Query and Run Controls. Thank you for all the years of support!!

  • (2021-02-23, v:3.3.1) Michael Maysilles: Great Extension!
Greetings! I've recently downloaded the extension and love it! For my non-Production instances, I'm required to VPN. I'm able to use a vpn portal rather than connecting through a vpn network connection. The portal adds vpn.xxx.xxx\ at the beginning of the address. Therefore, it does not allow the extension to load. It would be great if the extension could recognize loading through the vpn portal. Thanks again for the awesome work!

  • (2020-10-30, v:3.3.1) shyam sundar: New Functionality
Great work guys!! It would be helpful if a new option is added to PSUtilities tool for searching the navigation of a particular component or page and option to route it to that page. Basically this should be a combo of View Menu Item Detail and Test content reference link on structure and content page.
  • (2020-09-24, v:3.3.1) Thomas Dommermuth: PeopleTools 8.58

  • (2020-06-17, v:3.3.0) David Norman: Sign-in as
When I use a Campus Solutions sign-in as link I can't sign into peoplesoft with the PS Utilities extension turned on. However by toggling it off I can sign-in as someone else and then turn it back on and everything works like normal. It seems to have happen roughly the same time as our most recent tools update, although I cant say 100% that was the culprit. We've just move to PS tools 8.57.14. Please let me know if you need any more information.
  • (2020-03-29, v:3.3.0) David Vandiver: Trace Settings Remain On
When I use PSUtilities, and turn on Trace via the Utility, I get more trace settings (and a larger file) than is needed. Then, when I turn Trace back off with PSUtilities, I continue to get a trace file, with a setting that doesn't assist me anyhow. I have to log off and back on to reset to "no trace". The trace lines that appear to be showing are things like start, branch, fetch, and push. To recap: there appears to be two issues: 1) When you turn on the trace, unnecessary trace settings are set, though not set by me via the PSUtility options page. 2) When you turn off the trace, it keeps tracing the unnecessary items spoken about. We are on Tools 8.57.08, HCM 9.2 PUM 32.

  • (2020-02-12, v:3.3.0) Kevin Brown: Adding Queries as Favorites
Is there a way to add Query Names as Favorites? It appears that within the extension, the "Servlet" is limited to "psp", where I believe we would need "psc" for queries. Even if I manually update the Servlet using the Manage Favorites option, and pass a query name as a parameter using "/q/?ICAction=ICQryNameURL=MY_QUERY_NAME", I am unable to get the favorite to navigate to a specific query. Is this an incorrect configuration, or is the Extension currently unable to navigate directly to specific queries? If it's not a current feature, is it something you'd consider?
  • (2020-02-04, v:3.3.0) Other Business: trace options problem
Dear Developer, When I switch on the trace option in PSUtilities with all SQL Trace Options switched off, it does actually trace "Trace SQL Statement (1)" as in PeopleTools - Utilities - Debug - Trace SQL. I can tell, because that option is ticked (in PeopleSoft browser) after I switch on tracing without any SQL Trace Options in PSUtilities (and I had un-ticked it before). Is there a way of keeping the "Trace SQL Statement (1)" un-ticked when switching on trace in PSUtilities? Many thanks, Bart

  • (2019-09-03, v:3.3.0) Rick Allen: Quick Log In Functionality
Like hundreds of other users, I too, use the Quick Log In feature regularly during implementations. It is so quick to set up multiple users to test different securities. When limited to Chrome security, the list doesn't pop-up regularly to create new users and is cumbersome to remember and remove the old users. this was a real blow to an absolutely fantastic extension. I show all my users how it works and saves them time in the work they do. Please bring it back - perhaps with some parameter adjustments that would allow it in non-production environments.

  • (2019-08-30, v:3.3.0) Sean Hardeo: Removed Quick Logins feature
Hi Uffe, extension is awesome. I use everyday, but you just removed one the best features; the quick login. instead of removing feature completely, can you give users like myself choice to use or not.

  • (2019-08-29, v:3.3.0) DelVon Bouwhuis: Quick Login support
Please restore the quick login feature!! It is way better than chrome's password save feature and my computer is in a lab behind many firewalls. I am not worried about the security implications for my test environments. When I use the computer in other locations or in ways that it is a security concern I do not use the quick login feature. I think you can see by the comments posted that this is one of your most liked features.
